Chapter 4: Rewards
There were only 10 people who survived, and everyone was looking at Zac with complicated expressions,
A lean bespectacled youth walked out and forced a smile on his face, it seemed like he could represent the group,
"Zac and Xander right? My name is Andrew and I would like to thank you both for saving our lives, without your help we would have surely died today."
Zac waved his hands and smiled at the polite youth, with his years of experience he could see that the youth was truly grateful.
"No need to thank me, I told you that I will only show you the path to survival, you survived because you were all brave enough to walk the path"
Andrew smiled and looked back at the group, including himself their group consisted of 5 Mages, 3 Healers, and 2 Summoners, with him being one of the Mages, he had managed to survive because he had not vomited back then and continued to cast Mana Bullet desperately, those who had vomited were all dead because they couldn't get away from the destruction of the Mana Sphere. Although Xander had changed the direction of the sphere the ones vomiting on the floor couldn't move away in time and died in the aftermaths of the blast.
Zac wasn't too affected by their deaths, those who didn't have the courage would be weeded out sooner or later.
Andrew took a deep breath and voiced his concerns,
"What do we do now? The blast from the Mutated Dragonfly seemed to have scared away the Frenzied Rats but they would be back soon..."
Zac knew what he meant, he waved his hand and pointed at the items on the ground,
"The only solution is to be stronger than your enemy, I will now distribute the items according to your contribution in the battle"
Saying that he opened the Battle log and displayed the Contribution to everyone,

"I will take the first pick since I have the most contribution, Xander can pick next since he has the second-most contribution. This kind of distribution is the fairest don't you agree?"
Zac looked at Andrew asked,
Andrew was put on the spot he then discussed with the rest of the group and came to a decision,
"We have no objection since you both have the highest contribution and saved our lives, but... we hope you will let us follow you and protect us. I am willing to forgo my chance at the item for this."
Zac raised a brow and looked carefully at Andrew's face, No matter how he looked at it he did not see any fake emotions. He seemed to genuinely care for the others.
Andrew's back was cold because of being stared at by Zac, but he did not have anything to hide so he did not avoid his gaze.
Zac laughed out loud and walked towards Andrew, he put his arm around his shoulder and spoke to the rest of the group,
"If you all are willing to listen to my commands then I will not treat you badly. Those who contribute more will be able to earn all kinds of items, your strength will surely increase in the future"
The group consisting of 4 Mages, 3 Healers, and 2 Summoners excluding Andrew could feel the sincerity of Zac, so they agreed to follow him.
Zac nodded and looked at Xander,
"What about you? Will you follow me?"
Xander had long made his mind and replied without hesitation,
"Yes!"
Zac smiled and personally checked every item that dropped from the Mutated Dragonfly,

Zac nodded his head, although he would not be able to equip it now it would be his main weapon for a long time.
He then picked up the next item, it was a small crystal which had a blue hue on it,

Zac was not surprised that this dropped, although its effects would remain unknown for a long time in the future, he knew many of its uses.
He then tossed the shard to Xander,
"See if you like it"
Zac then picked up another item with a grey hue, it looked like a ring with some complicated inscriptions on it,
[Storage Ring] (Grey - Common)
Requirements: None
Effect: Able to store inanimate objects inside, size: 1 cubic meter
Durability: 100%
Zac grinned when he saw this, he picked up the Sword and the Storage ring and did not bother looking at the other Common items with grey hues.
He gestured for Andrew to come and distribute the rest of the items to the group.
Zac then stored his [Mandible Sword] and bronze coins in his ring.
The Mutated Dragonfly had dropped a total of 53 bronze coins adding the one he got from killing the Frenzied Rat, he had 54 bronze coins in total, this was a lot in this stage of the Calamity.
Xander gave the Mutation shard back to Zac saying that he wasn't interested in the item. Zac told him that he would just hold onto it and return it when he needed them in the future.
Everyone else also returned their items to Zac since he was the one with the storage ring, In total, the drops were pretty decent for an Lv. 5 beast.
