Chapter 2: Chapter 2
Zack stood up as his eyes shined with a golden light as six wings sprouted from his back. They shined brightly with three wings on each side as they slowly expanded. Even staring at him was painful for a demon like her. She never saw an angel that bright, and with wings like that before. Her body was reacting off instinct as she shuddered on the ground. He quickly put them away as he helped her up. While Lilith was getting dressed she looked back at him with a smirk.
"Sex with an angel...I feel so dirty." She teased.
"You came onto me remember. Also, don't call me an angel. Not one of those douchebags. My name is Zack, and that's all that matters. I gotta finish my trip to town, but if you're capable of disguising yourself you can join me." Zack said while walking down the trail.
"Shy to be seen with a demon?" She asked while grabbing onto his arm.
"No just don't wanna have to kill anymore today. You know how close-minded they can be. Better to be discreet." He replied.
She understood what he meant to begin with just enjoyed teasing him. With a snap of her fingers, she resembled a regular human. Her eyes were now green, and her hair was blonde. While they walked into town everyone seemed to be watching them. With all the attacks recently they were wary of outsiders. The need for business outweighed their paranoia as the two wandered towards the market unbothered.
"What are you looking for today?" A merchant asked as he approached.
"I'm looking to sell," Zack said with a wave of his hand.
On the ground dropped three sacks filled with magic crystals. The merchant was stunned looking at the treasures in front of him. Normally a large expedition into a dungeon would only secure a third of the crystals he possed. While examining the crystals he was thrilled at their quality. People quickly began to gather at the commotion.
"Do you need anything made from this, or coin only?" The merchant asked politely.
"Do you need anything?" Zack asked Lilith.
Lilith shook her head as they exchanged it for money instead. To have enough money, they needed to submit a form to the treasury. A few armed guards were escorting a man from the treasury over as two men carried a large chest. The guard protecting it possessed tier five artifacts and are radiating powerful magical auras.
After the exchange, Zack grabbed some supplies as they left the city. Following behind them were a few bandits wanting to rob them. Zack noticed this as he trailed off into the woods. Not long after he did a spear of lightning was roaring towards them. He placed his hand out halting the spear. Tightening his grip as the attack dissipated into thin air as the bandits quickly surrounded him.
"Fall back it might get messy. You can still leave with your life," Zack told the bandits while manifesting his spear.
Lilith was clear from the area of attack, and Zack slammed it into the ground as he flexed his aura. All the bandits fell to their knees under the pressure. Only one could withstand the pressure staring Zack down. He charged in wielding a large sword covered in mana. With a swipe of his spear, the sword shattered into pieces. The man didn't seem bothered as he pressed forward preparing a spell in his hand. Zack began spinning his spear as a cyclone formed sending them all flying high into the air as they disappeared into the distance.
"You know I can fight too," Lilith said as she walked back up.
"I'm sure you can. Just wasn't sure if I was gonna need to use any holy attacks. I know your vulnerable, and didnt wanna risk hurting you." Zack said as they continued their journey.
"Where we headed anyway?" She asked.
"I gotta drop something off then I'm heading home. You planning to stick around?" He replied.
"Thinking about it. We did have some fun after all. Got nothing better to do anyway." She said while grabbing his arm.
They walked in the woods for over an hour and came across an orphanage disguised in a mirage. It was surrounded by a large wall and a powerful barrier. Lilith looked over at Zack when examining it. She could sense his power was protecting this place. When they walked in she quickly noticed it was filled with a variety of species and only housed a small group of humans. A few of the children ran up to Zack jumping up for attention.
The girl leading them was an Inari named Tanya. She has wavy blonde hair and ruby eyes. Tanya was a lot older than the other children. She was expecting Zack to arrive today and had a large smile on her face seeing his safe return.
"Did you bring snacks?" Tanya asked as her tail wagged.
"I sure did, but you know Ms. Yuki will be angry if you eat them now. So you have to wait till after dinner okay?" Zack replied while patting her head.
"We will promise," Tanya said with a smile.
He waved his hand as a few large pouches landed on the ground. They immediately began searching through it picking what they were gonna eat later. After picking out their favorites they took off towards the house to store it properly.
"It's for everyone okay? If anyone tries to be stingy I won't bring any next time." He shouted while walking up to the house.
As Zack approached a beautiful woman walked out from the house wearing a pink kimono with a white obi. She has long black hair trailing down her back, silver eyes, and skin as white as snow. Her name was Yuki, and she was a snow nymph. When seeing Zack a beautiful smile swept her face. Even seeing Lilith didn't bring her down. She walked up to him to embrace him tightly.
"I thought we would see you today, and Tanya was certain of it. Who is this with you though?" Yuki asked trying to be polite.
"You know I always stop by when I can, and if I wasn't concerned about attracting trouble I would stay here. This is Lilith we met earlier today." Zack said while looking around.
"Nice to meet you," Yuki said with a smile.
"Likewise, Is it okay if I look around some?" Lilith asked.
"Of course you can. Just be careful some of the children are pranksters." Yuki said while leading him inside the house.
"I brought some supplies. Where did you want them?" Zack asked.
Yuki gestures at him to follow and leads Zack down the steps to the storage room. After he brought out the supplies and money he looked around to see what they were lacking. Zack began placing everything in its proper place as Yuki moved towards the door.
"You do so much for us already, and I know just how to repay you," Yuki said while locking the door.
"You know I help cause it's the right thing. Your acting a little different today." Zack said trying to avoid the situation.
Zack could tell bringing Lilith to visit sparked something inside Yuki. It wasn't hard to pick up her intent. Yuki is gorgeous, and the offer was tempting to Zack, but the kids are running around the house. She placed her hand on the door freezing it to the wall. It's as if Yuki knew the excuse he was going to use.
"Do you only like blondes?" She asked nervously with her eyes to the ground.
The two had known each other for two years now, and have been working together to care for the children. In all their time together he never witnessed her acting like this. Seeing the embarrassed look on her face, and given their history it felt wrong ignoring her advances. Zack walked up to her lifting her chin gently.
"I didn't know you felt that way." He said as he kissed her.
