Chapter 7: Candy

Delilah had just returned from her flower shop and found that her apartment door was unlocked. Her eyes widened as she thought that her father must have come home. She instantly went inside without a second thought and only regretted it after.

"Who are you!" Delilah shrieked shockingly and dropped her bag. She was shocked when she saw that her father had been severely beaten. Delilah came over to her father.

"Dad, are you okay?" Delilah raised a question with a timid expression and was on the verge of crying.

"What happened? Who are they?" Delilah still wondered about her father, but Mark didn't answer.

James came out of the room and to glimpse what was happening. He strolled towards Delilah and watched behind her. Delilah was kneeling in anxiety, holding her father. James then glanced at Earth and coded with his eyes to talk to Delilah.

"Your father stole from the casino. Now he must pay what he took!" Earth said in a cold tone. Delilah then gazed at her father, who was quietly bowing his head.

"Is that true, Daddy?" Mark still didn't answer.

"Not only him but also your brother. Where is he now?" Earth interrogated furthermore. Delilah shook her head.

"I don't know. He's gone. I don't know where!" Delilah replied while shaking her head. Delilah then got up and tried to negotiate with that mafia group. At the same time, James was still watching her.

"You'd better get out of my house. I-I can report you to the Police!" Delilah threatened with the remaining courage she had. James snorted and smirked behind him at that. Was this indeed the girl who had helped him?

Earth and James' men burst into laughter at Delilah. Delilah innocently hustled dangerous men out of her house like a puppy barking at a Doberman.

"Do you know who we are?" Earth asked her more.

"I-I don't care who you are! You guys have to get out of my house right now!" Delilah was still pushing them out, but her hands were starting to tremble. James nodded. He had seen enough of Delilah's 'courage' to his men. James stepped over, and Delilah was still trying to chase away James' men.

"Go away from here!" Delilah's expression directly changed when a man in a neat and expensive suit appeared from behind her. The man confronted Delilah for the first time for him and the second time for Delilah.

The man was taller than Delilah's head. He's very handsome with brownish hair. His masculine hair is well-groomed. Delilah was surprised to see the man in front of her. It was the same man she had helped a few weeks ago.

"Y-you..." Delilah pointed with a startled look. James tilted his head slightly to look at the girl with a bright blue-eyed girl hiding behind the round glasses.

'I think she still recognizes me,' James thought on his mind.

"Why? Surprised to see me, Vreya Delilah Starley!" James guessed right away. Delilah was stunned and could not contend.

'It turns out that you are my savior,' repeated James in his heart.

James grinned evilly and drew closer to Delilah. Delilah automatically stepped backward without daring to say anything.

"W-what do you want?" Delilah asked, terrified that she had been pushed against the wall near the kitchen.

"I came to see the person who saved me a few weeks ago. Am I wrong?" James was toying with Delilah with an irrelevant question. Mark then looked back to see that James Belgenza had noticed his daughter.

"Y-yes, I-I helped you," replied Delilah in trembled voice, and now she was glued to the wall. James drew closer and locked Delilah with one hand extended against the wall. James smirked and nodded slowly. He screened Delilah's appearance from top to bottom with his eyes.

"Do you know who I am?" Delilah shook her head.

"From now on, call me Mr. J." James suddenly grabbed Delilah's glasses and threw them away.

"Ah, my glasses!" James's eyes were stunned to see Delilah's eyes were a stunning blue like an ocean. It was wonderful. Her skin is white and pale with light blonde hair. She is like a doll—a living Barbie doll who disguises her beauty with glasses, braces, and 60's attire.

"What do you want?" Delilah asked, breaking James' reverie.

"I want my money." Delilah is stunned because she doesn't know anything about money.

"Oliver brought it," Delilah admitted innocently.

"Who's Oliver?"

"My brother," she replied again innocently.

"Then you have to pay for it." Delilah was stunned and thoughtful. She was counting the money she had in her wallet at the moment.

"How much?" James chuckled and snorted. He was looking down to burst into laughter. The girl was so innocent that she thought that what had been stolen could be refunded instantly.

"How much money do you have?" James frowned to mock Delilah. Delilah inquired James to back off to pick up her bag, which had fallen on the floor. James didn't want to back down instead asked his men to bring Delilah's bag. After she got her bag, Delilah directly reached into it and handed 50 euros she had. Innocently, Delilah put the money into James' hands.

James opened his mouth in disbelief to see a girl give 50 euros to pay her father's debt. Her eyes from the palm holding the banknotes rose to see Delilah's face again.

"You think...it's Halloween?" Delilah shook her head innocently. James raised the 50 Euro and showed it in front of Delilah.

"Do you think that I'm buying candy?"

"N-no… I mean, I want to pay off my father's debt." James chuckled evilly again. He stared at Delilah's eyes. There is an unusual desire after staring at this girl. James was convinced that she must still be a virgin.

"Your father's debt is 50 thousand euros plus interest, that means 100 thousand." Delilah's eyes popped. She had never seen so much money in her life.

"H-hundred..." James nodded before Delilah finished her words.

"How are you going to pay for it?" James cut off then. Delilah didn't dare look at James and instead lowered her sight.

"G-give my time. I'll pay for it, Mr. J," Delilah replied, making a snarling commitment.

"Well. I'll give you two days. I'll come to pick it up by myself, Candy!" James returned and pursed his lips. He stepped backward and turned around. He gave the code to all his men to go out of the apartment and followed him.

Instantly Delilah fell on the floor because of her wobbly legs. Her legs could no longer stand. She had made a pact without her consent at all.

"What have you done? Do you know who he is!" Mark rebuked Delilah, who was still pale. Mark then hurriedly got up from his place to lock the door. He panted and peeked a few times through the window. He walked over to Delilah, who was still crouching. Mars was pointing at her.

"You made the promise with him. You are the one who should obtain it. I don't want to obstruct! I want to move out of here!" Mark spoke casually and went into his room.

"What do you mean, dad?" asked Delilah worriedly. She Stood up to follow her father into the room. Mark quickly took out all his clothes and put them in the suitcase.

"Where are you going?"

"Somewhere but here… I don't want to die at the hands of that mafia!"

"Mafia..."

"Do you know who he is? He is James Belgenza. The mafia and underworld criminals know him as James Harristian. He will kill us if we don't move out of here!" Mark shrieked back to Delilah and resumed filling up the suitcase.

"But what about the debt?"

"Didn't you agree to pay for it? It's your business and him. I don't want to get in," Mark retorted without any mercy at all.

"But I don't have that much money, Daddy!"

"Then why did you even make a pact with him?"

"Otherwise, he will kill you!" Mark snorted without thanking Delilah for saving his life.

"I could have gotten a slight slack if I negotiated with him, but you stupidly acted like a hero. You agreed with him instead. You idiot!" cursed Mark and then poked Delilah's head with his finger. Mark wasted no time dragging out his suitcase and leaving Delilah in the apartment alone.

"Daddy, don't go. Don't leave me alone, I beg you!"

"Oh, let go! You are as stupid as your mother. Good thing she's dead!" Mark shoved Delilah, who kept begging him not to leave. After making sure things were safe, Mark wasted no time dashing out of the apartment.

While in the car, James leaned his head to gaze at the view he passed on the streets of the Vomero. The corners of his lips lifted slightly at the memory of those girl beautiful blue eyes.

"Candy!" He mumbled softly.
