Chapter 56: Clarity

"You think I was too stupid to realize that?"

"Gabriel, you make it sound like I am some evil manipulating narci--" I trailed off as Gabriel started shaking his head.

His eyes were remarkably clear, as calm as the deepest ocean. "I know what you're doing. You are trying to incite jealousy in me. If you like me then you are making poor Lysander the rebound. You didn't want to be a rebound but you are making other guys, one."

Truth hurts. 

I wisely shut my mouth as I thought of arguments to defend myself from Gabriel's accusations. 

 "You are a pot calling a kettle black." I forced myself to return his gaze, fascinated by the tiny flickers of white light that came and went in the darkness of his eyes. "You used to kiss Lauren at school every time I'm around to make me green with envy. When Lysander was flirting with me, you cock-block him."

Gabriel growled softly in response. "You like his cock then?"
