Chapter 4 - Information
"Making a cat video sounds like a good idea. I don't need to show my face and the cats will be the main focus of the video." Danial thought properly but he did not decide on it yet.
He continued watching more pet-related videos. He found a lot of interesting and funny pet videos.
Also, looking at their views, it looked like pet-related videos had stable views most of the time.
Other than that, the channels all had quite a high number of subscribers. The lowest was 20 thousand subscribers but that was a new channel. Still, the new channel's video had more than 50 thousand views.
"This is not a bad idea. Hmm… cat videos, maybe I should do this." Danial made his decision.
"Let's survey the cat's price," he immediately sprang into action. Why wait since he had made his decision?
"If I want to have a cat, the cute one will attract a lot of viewers. Also, the one with long furs usually is the most popular," Danial searched online.
He searched for information about the long fur cat. There were many popular breeds of long-haired cats and they were the Norwegian Forest Cat, Himalayan cat, Persian cat, Maine Coon, Ragdoll, and many others.
Even so, the five long-haired cats were the most known breed of this type. Although their names sounded like they came from some kind of place, those names did not exist in this world. The name giver just put whatever came to mind.
Danial looked at the pictures of these five cats and he recognized some of them from the videos he watched earlier.
"These guys are cute and will surely be popular. I wonder how much they cost?" Danial typed in their breeds and checked their prices.
Norwegian Forest cat – Price range 600 Fil to 900 Fil for a kitten. Normal bloodlines 900 Fil to 12 000 Fil. Premium bloodlines, 1200 Fil to 4000 Fil.
"…" Danial fell silent. The price was certainly not something that he could afford. With only a convenience store part-time job, he could not afford the Norwegian Forest Cat. Impossible.
"Emm… maybe the other breeds are more affordable," Danial did not want to give up. He searched for the Himalayan cat's prices.
Himalayan cat – 500 Fil to 1300 Fil.
"…Let's try Persian cat," Danial moved on.
Persian cat – 1500 Fil to 3000 Fil.
*Gulp* Danial swallowed his saliva and he looked for Maine Coon and Ragdoll cat.
Maine Coon – 1200 Fil to 2000 Fil
Ragdoll – 1200 Fil to 2500 Fil.
Danial sucked in a deep breath. He was speechless at how expensive these cats were.
"It makes sense since they are popular… or maybe because it is hard to breed them?" Danial was totally a beginner… not even a beginner in a cat.
The only thing he knew about cats was if he looked at one, he knew that that was a cat. As to what breed it had or its behavior, he was clueless.
Danial started searching for other breeds but even the cheapest one was within hundreds. He could not afford that much with his salary.
After paying his rent and food, he did not have much left. He did not want to ask for his parents' money. He was an adult and capable of earning money by himself.
"Is it impossible to get a cat? Should I consider making another type of video?" Danial wanted to give up. The prices made his heart cold. He felt like he was at the north pole with thin clothes.
"Sigh…" he sighed and locked his phone. He lied on his futon again and contemplated his decision to adopt a cat.
"They are too expensive. I cannot afford them," Danial closed his eyes and tried to calm down.
While lying down, he remembered about the cat serial-killing on the news last night. He saw many cute cat photos online when searching about their prices and when he imagined them dead, he felt bad.
His thoughts wandered off and remembered another news on tv that night. His eyes suddenly lit up and he got up from the futon.
"That's it! Buying a cat like this is expensive but what if I adopt a cat from the shelter? The news said there were many shelters around the country housing many stray pets. Adopting them will not be that expensive… right?"
As he got this idea, he grabbed his phone and searched online about this.
"Cat shelter, cat shelter, cat shelter," Danial mumbled as he typed in the words in the search tab.
He found information about pet shelters and when he looked at the adoption price, he felt relieved.
"50 Fil to 100 Fil. It is not that expensive and according to this, there may be a lot of cute cats available there."
"This is a better idea. I can save my money and I am also helping the cat," Danial nodded as he was confident that this was a good method.
After that, he looked for information about the nearest pet shelter in the city. Unfortunately, there was no pet shelter in Blue Tulip City.
Be that as it may, a massive shelter could be found in Silver Tulip City, a neighbor of Blue Tulip City. He just needed to take a 10 minutes train to arrive at the city.
"Nice! I will go there tomorrow," Danial was excited. He could not wait to adopt a cat and started his Ayetuber side job.
He clicked on the website of Silver Tulip City's pet shelter which used the name Sunshine Shelter.
Once he entered the website, there were some introductions about the shelter. They usually housed stray, lost, and abandoned pets.
As he read more, he found out that unadopted pets were euthanized. Only about 20% to 30% of pets were adopted and the rest were euthanized.
Danial was shocked when he read this. He knew about this but he never thought that it was this high.
If there were 100 pets at the shelter, 70 of them would die if no one wanted to adopt them.
"This… is a bit cruel… isn't it?" Danial did not know what to think of it.
He continued reading Sunshine Shelter's information and then, he found out that there were some rules applied by them if someone wanted to adopt the pet.
Danial read through the rules.
The animals cannot be reserved and the shelter had the right to approve or reject an adoption request.
Danial nodded. He understood these rules. After that, he continued reading and was stunned by the next rules.
"They will check my house? Also, my job?" he was stunned.
