Chapter 2: First Target: Xuan Ji
Xu Han lived in a cozy wooden courtyard. It had a single floor with two bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, and a beautiful garden at the back with a serene pond where fish gracefully swam.
The courtyard, a serene winter scene, was adorned with falling snowflakes. Yet, a fascinating occurrence took place within its borders. As the snow approached, it inexplicably disappeared, leaving the courtyard free of its frosty touch. This enchanting phenomenon was the result of a powerful array formation, diligently ensuring the courtyard remained snow-free.
The sect to which Xu Han belonged was located in the western part of the northern region and controlled a vast territory spanning millions of miles. Most disciples' cultivation in the sect focused on ice or water-based elemental abilities.
The sect itself was situated on a cold mountain range, forming a picturesque setting enveloped by a cold and serene environment.
he sect was divided into different sections: the outer court for outer court disciples, the inner court for inner court disciples, the 12 peaks for core disciples and direct disciples, and the Main Palace where the palace master and her disciple resided. These different sectors were situated on the mountains forming a C. Xu Han, being at the Body Tempering realm level 4, belonged to the outer court.
To advance to the next level and become an inner court disciple, Xu Han knew he had to reach the Qi Gathering realm and pass a test. Success would grant him the position of an inner court disciple. However, the specific requirements for further advancement within the sect remained unknown to him.
After closing the door behind him, Xu Han headed towards the sect's restaurant. He had a specific purpose in mind: to find a suitable person to invite for the simulation and he had already chosen whom to invite.
There were certain conditions that needed to be met for an invitation to take place. Firstly, the target had to be within a 1 km range. Secondly, Xu Han had to know the person's name. Lastly, he needed to be aware of the person's cultivation realm.
Although Xu Han had the power to forcibly invite someone who was one major realm higher than him, he still had to fulfill these conditions. For individuals who surpassed him by more than one major realm, Xu Han had the option to extend an invitation for them to enter the simulation. If they willingly accepted the invitation, they could enter simulation.
Due to his current cultivation level, he could only invite one person for the simulation. If he had the ability, he would have invited all the outer court disciples to participate. However, he had to be selective, as inviting someone incapable would be a waste. Although he could remove that person later, it was better to invest effort in finding a suitable candidate from the start.
Xuan Ji, the most talented individual among the outer court disciples, had already been chosen as Xu Han's candidate. Xuan Ji had a good character, was humble and not arrogant despite his talent.
Since Xu Han's invitation range was limited to a 1 km radius with himself at the center, and he couldn't invite anyone from the inner court, he focused on the outer court disciples. Luckily, Xuan Ji's residence fell within the 1 km range from the restaurant.
Walking on the snow-covered brick road was effortless for Xu Han due to his body tempering level 4 cultivation. He smoothly made his way to the restaurant.
The restaurant was a three-story brick building designed in an eastern style. It had enough space to accommodate all the outer court disciples. Although cultivators at the body tempering realm still needed nourishment, Xu Han rarely dined there since Lingxi took care of his meals.
Upon entering the restaurant, Xu Han was met with the scent of various delicacies, mingling with the lively conversations and clinking of utensils. The air was filled with noise and loud voices.
Tables of various sizes were occupied by people of different heights, builds, and genders some in groups some lonely. Some were enjoying their meals while others engaged in lively conversations.
Many pairs of eyes glanced at Xu Han but quickly looked away out of fear.
His decision to purchase an expensive courtyard as a new outer court disciple had drawn the attention of individuals within the sect who were driven by greed.
Xu Han understood that he couldn't wait passively. So, he took proactive measures and confronted those who harbored covetous intentions before they could act and beat them black and blue. Even though he was only at body tempering level 3 at the time, he proved to be more powerful than even those at body tempering level 4, causing others with similar thoughts to recoil in fear.
Unaffected by the lingering gazes, Xu Han looked for an available table and sat down. He ordered roasted chicken and a cup of tea, patiently waiting for his meal.
While savoring his food, Xu Han focused on the task of inviting Xuan Ji. After some time, the system interface suddenly appeared before him, displaying the details of his chosen candidate:

Without hesitation, Xu Han internally confirmed.
After eating, Xu Han stood up from his table, paid for the meal and made his way back to his courtyard.

In a room within a nearby courtyard, resembling Xu Han's, sat a person of slender build, fair complexion, and a handsome face, completely engrossed in his cultivation, sitting cross-legged on a bed. Suddenly, his hazel like eyes snapped open, revealing a mix of shock and confusion.
"Congratulations! You have been chosen to participate in the Celestial Simulation," a message appeared before them.
Before he could react or utter a word, he vanished from his original place. Xuan Ji suddenly found himself surrounded by emptiness, unable to move. Bewilderment and fear consumed him. Just as he began to consider his situation, words appeared before him, floating in the void.
