Chapter 47: Captured.
(Ponzu POV)
'Hmm. This is so boring... I want to be part of the action. Staying in the hideout is really boring. I understand that Neon is vital to us, but just knowing that she is important doesn't heal my boredom!' I was lying on the ground while looking at the ceiling, when suddenly, I felt some disturbance in the entry. "Oh. It looks like I will finally have some action!" I excitedly said.
Then, I got up and went there but instead of being some enemies for me to take care of, it was Kurapika coming back with Chrollo, the leader of the Phantom Troupe, together with Vergo and Menchi.
"Tch. Its you guys... huff. At least I won't be by myself anymore." I pursed my lips.
Chrollo then began to look around. "So this is where you have been hiding..."
"And this is the famous leader of the Phantom Troupe? Great. Now we can trade him with Oemitsu." I said.
"You better give up. I have no value in a bargain." Chrollo said.
"We will see about that." Menchi smiled.
"You better shut up, or else, I'm going to kill you if you keep babbling." Kurapika warned him.
'Chrollo must have done something terrible to Kurapika, he looks so pissed off.' I thought.
"You will not kill me. You left your precious friends behind. Besides your leader stood behind." Chrollo said.
Kurapika, in response, punched him. Menchi together with Vergo appeared right in front of him, Menchi placed a blade on his neck while Vergo had his staff right next to his head.
"Oemitsu is still on the hands of the Phantom Troupe, if we kill Chrollo she will also kill him." Menchi said.
"Hmm. So his name is Oemitsu... its good to know. I will kill him when this is all over." Chrollo commented.
Vergo punched him in the face and said. "You are a hostage. You're only alive because Oemitsu is with the rest of the Spiders. While I cannot kill you, Ponzu can poison your body beyond any repair."
I simply lifted my hand and many bees came in through the window. 'The reason why Oemitsu took this risk was because of me. If he didn't played as hostage I would die. I was supposed to die in this week. The only way to overwrite such event, is to create another event that will be as important or even more crucial. So, Oemitsu proposed that he would allow himself to be captured, while we would kidnap Chrollo.
The hostage exchange must last for 2 more days and by then the week will be over, breaking Neon's prophecy. Needless to say, his plan was met with a lot of opposition, both from Vergo and even Menchi. If the Spiders didn't care for Chrollo and killed him, we would lose the core of our family. The only reason why Menchi, Vergo and even me, are able to cooperate and act as a team, is because of Oemitsu's existence. While we are the wolf's fangs, Oemitsu is, without a doubt, the head. If we lose him, we wouldn't be able to replace him.
This is the third time he saves me. I'm ridiculous. I was forced to enter this family by gunpoint, I was expecting harsh treatment and forced labour, I thought that I was lucky for having a 1 year deal. If I endured for a year, then I would easily leave. However, in the end, Oemitsu actually cared for me, saving my life in three different occasions. Now I owe him my life.
If I left the family, then what? The only reason why I am a Hunter, is because of Oemitsu. If it wasn't for him, I would still be stuck in that cave. What am I supposed to do after all of this? I still have 6 more months to figure it out. But the least that I can do, is repay my debt to him. He placed his life in risk for me, I will not allow him to die today!'
(Oemitsu POV)
I suddenly woke up with a strong blow against my head. Looking around, still a little dizzy, I saw that I was in a dark room chained to a wall, the only light inside this room, was the moon. In front of me there were the 7 legs of the Spider. Most of them were bandaged and in a bad state.
I was surprised to see that Franklin was still alive. "You live? You look like a broken doll, though. I thought that Vergo would be able to kill you."
"I used my Nen to stop my bones from damaging my organs. As long as my heart is still beating, I can restructure my body in any way I want." He said.
"You really are a discount Frankenstein. Maybe I can get one myself." I sneered. 'Thank you for the input, dumbass. Now I know how to kill you.'
"How should I torture him? Maybe ripping his nails off or ripping his eyes off?" Feitan asked.
"I like the suggestions. Wouldn't it be better to break every single bone on my body? Oh, why don't you join my family? I'm looking for a good torturer, the wage is good. What do you say?" The more I talked, the more Feitan got pissed. "Fufufufufufufu. Nevermind. I don't need such a short and weak member. Oh, yeah. Where are my friends Killua and Gon? I'm kinda thirsty... don't you even serve juice or water. How rude. Wait until I talk with the mana-." Before I could conclude my speech, Machi got near me. "Hello there. It has been a long time, Machi. What happened to your face? Sunburn?" I mocked her.
Machi, at this moment, lost her patience and punched me in the face over and over again.
"Hahahahahaha. Is this all you got?!" The more she beat me, the more I laughed, it seemed as if I was a maniac.
Machi did not stopped until Pakunoda said. "Machi, stop before its too late!"
"Why stop? Let's kill him!" Feitan protested together with Machi.
"We can't kill him! If we do, Boss is going to die! There are only 8 of us left, counting with Boss, if we lose him, the Spider will stop existing!" Pakunoda explained.
"We must kill him! Our fallen members demand it!" Phinks exclaimed.
"Don't you understand?! If he dies, the Boss dies too! The spiders need Chrollo to work. Especially right now. If we lose our head in such a crucial moment, then it means that the Spider will cease to exist!" Pakunoda tried to reason with them.
"Hahahahahahaha! Such an entertainment! Continue, continue. Don't bother with me... fufufufufu. You all are truly retarded. Chrollo is the only reason you even exist. While you may not have noticed, if Chrollo dies, so does the Spider. Chrollo thinks that you 7 can survive without him. What a joke! As soon as he leaves, you will split up. You guys will fight between each other in each important matter! Ahhhh, continue, I want to see what will be your decison, assholes. Fufufufufu" I widened my smile while blood dripped from my mouth.
"Shut up, you fucker!" Mavhi said before she returned to beat me.
She punched me until someone finally stoped her. After coughing blood, I looked at her and smiled again. "What happened? Did your hands turned into pillows? Why don't you punch stronger? Or is it that you can't?"
Machi tried to come at me but was stopped by the beaten Franklin. At this moment, I leaned on the chair while feeling an extreme pain in my body. Then, I looked at the ceilling and ignored their babbling, since I already knew the result of the conversation. From the beginning, the Spiders were puppets and I was the puppeteer.
While looking at the beautiful moon hanging up above, I asked. 'Ne, Nyar. Do you think that I am wrong?'
(What do you mean by that?) She asked.
I wanted to build a family that is not a bunch of toys. I wanted a family that will be by my side. I don't want another family like the Gremory... I know that Machi will not join me under normal circumstances. So out of jealousy, I went after the Phantom Troupe. Don't get me wrong, I feel no pity for those I killed, however, it hurts me when I have to hurt one of my future family members... and yet, I still did it. I truly am a hypocrite.' I smiled at how beautiful the moon is right now.
Its silvery rays of light shining upon the ground. Truly beautiful.
(To be honest... I don't care about your family. Sure, I want you to have one and I love to be apart of it, but if your ever left it, so would I. I decided to dedicate every single bit of what is left of my existence to your happiness. You are a kid, so it is perfectly normal for you to act by our emotions. And even if Machi does not forgive you right now, you will have a lot of time to get into her heart. But if she doesn't listen to you... then you can leave it to your Onee-chan. I will teach her how to please you.) She said.
'And there she goes. The maximum amount of time that she can act serious is 5 minutes, after this, she turns to her perverted mode.' I smiled again before looking in front of me. 'Ok. I can only move my finger tips. At this moment, I must not show weakness to the Phantom Troupe. They must not figure out my weakness.' I thought while I attached my fingers to my arms, legs and spinal cord.
I made it in a way that I could use my 3 fingers to move my entire body. This will prove to be a challenge but it isn't impossible. Turning to the side, I spat out a tooth that broke. 'Hmm. Machi really did a number on me.'
When I returned to look at then, I saw Phinks getting a phone call. 'It seems that Kurapika is the one making the negociations. Hopefully he will follow the plan. Well, if he doesn't, Vergo, Menchi and Ponzu are there. And I doubt that he would be able to join forces with Chrollo, so its safe.'
"One of the hostages fought back, so we had to break a couple of bones, but-." Before Phinks could continue talking, Kurapika hanged the call.
"Fufufufufufufu. You idiot." I said, at this moment, it was really fun seeing how dumb they were.
Phinks made a pokerface before he called the number again and said. "I was lying." Suddenly, Machi punched him in the head and took the phone from him.
Then, she give it to Pakunoda before she punched me again. "If you keep talking, I will not be able to hold it in. Either you die after we rescue Boss or right now." She threatened me.
"Fufufufufu. I truly can't win against you. Anyone else would have said that he had enough by now, but you still keep going. I really love that in you. But you should try to improve your intimidation, even a rat is scarier." I commented.
"We will do the hostage trade in two days and I am the only one that is allowed to transport them." Pakunoda said.
And here they come, showing me that I was right. After Pakunoda informed them, they started to argue between each other. Feitan even suspected that she was a spy.
'It truly is ridiculous. Without Chrollo leading them, they are like headless chickens. The only reason they managed to survive, in the series, for that long without Chrollo, is because they had an objective. Which was to find the Nen user who could remove the Nen chains that were inside Chrollo. If they didn't have that objective, their group would have dissolved.'
