Chapter 37: Starting The Long Game II
Three of the higher-ups finally sat down even though CEO Lim looked visibly angry while the vice-president hid the anger quite well.
Lim Do Yun looked really angry, as if he was controlling an outrage. In truth, he was happy to be next to his little brother. He was robbed of the opportunity to be a big brother when they were a child. When he bought his little brother back, he was naive and did not realise people would use his hand to ruin his little brother's life.
Even now, he was not sure if he could protect his little brother, and he knew it was selfish to want to be next to his little brother. But he wants to be selfish now.
Lim Tar-Ri knew drama would happen when Choi Haneul joined the company, but she did not expect it to start on day one. Holding a sigh, she sat and looked expectantly at Haneul to start the drama.
Haneul looked at Tae-Ri as he started his game. "What is the point of you guys signing the contract with my boss if you are going to breach it soon? Why did you come all the way to SMJ and speak with my boss as if you guys are going to keep your end of the bargain? Do you think our boss is an idiot or SMJ has no power?"
Haneul could not help but take a personal dig at the coward of an elder brother. "Mr Lim, I know you can't keep a word you gave in your personal life, but I am surprised to know you can't do it in your professional life. This is a shame!"
"Choi Haneul! How dare you?!" Lim Do Yun was furious at his little brother for mocking him about the wound that would never heal in his heart.
Choi Haneul crossed his leg and leaned against the sofa as he spoke with blatant disdain. "How dare I? Wow! How dare you and your useless company try to investigate me?"
Three of the higher-ups were too stunned to speak.
CEO Lim Do Yun and President Lim Tae-Ri were shocked as they did not know about any investigation.
Vice-president Go Yoo Han felt the soul leave his body when he realised he was caught. He still hoped to lie his way out and did not want to out the person whose orders he was working on to anyone.
Haneul turned towards the vice-president, who was sweating, irrespective of being seated in the path of air conditioning. "Maybe I should ask the concerned person. Where did you get the audacity to cross the line with me or SMJ? How dare you look into me? Who do you think you are? Why did the company's vice-president behave like a lap dog and follow an order of a certain bitch with the surname Sun?"
"Choi Haneul!" Lim Do Yun felt fear for his little brother and ended up yelling out the name.
Lim Do Yun did not even realise that his outburst would look like a rage toward Haneul, but in reality, it was for the safety of Haneul.
Lim Do Yun knew both the artist hated his stepmother. But he could not say the same for the company's president and vice-president.
The last thing he wanted was for his stepmother to cause trouble for his little brother.
Haneul ignored Lim Do Yun's scream as he continued his questioning. "In that case, I am curious, what is your relationship with her?"
He blatantly looked at the vice president as if he did not pass a suggestive comment.
"Speak respectfully of her. She is madam Lim and…" Lim Do Yun could not even complete his sentence saying 'our stepmother who could ruin your life and the entire Lim family.'
He hated that he would not be able to protect his little brother.
Vice-president Go Yoo Han took the blame even though he was only part of making the payment. "I acted on my own. It has nothing to do with the company or madam Lim. So speak respectfully, Mr Han."
"It was not madam Lim who I am accusing. Mistress Sun, a bitch in heat and the homewrecker who climbed someone else husband's bed to separate the family for her greed." Haneul's words surprised the vice president, who did not know the information before.
Choi Haneul's hatred for the one who hurt his mother was immeasurable. But he has better things to focus on, like making money to fund his project, than spending time on petty revenge. At the same time, he won't let her ruin the company his mother built or bring loss to his boss.
"Mr Han, speak respectfully of her and stop implying something is happening between her and me. I am a married man and loyal to my wife." Vice-president Go Yoo Han wanted to protect his honour and his CEO's mother.
"She climbed a married man's bed once and would do it again. So shut your mouth." Choi Haneul did not care if he was slandering a good husband. After all, that good husband was a bitch's henchman in his eyes.
For the first time, Lim Tae-Ri spoke, and her eyes were spitting fire. "On which authority did you do it, vice president? What were you looking for? I have to explain it to SMJ's CEO - BB. So please tell me."
Lim Do Yun looked at his cousin, who was not revealing the CEO of SMJ's name even at this moment and just addressed him with an initial he already knew about; BB was the short form for the nicknames based on the mood and context.
BB was for Big Brother when the boss looked out for his people.
But BB was Brutal Beast as the man lacks humanity in dealing with issues, a competitor in the business and threats of his people.
Lim Do Yun knew in what context the BB would fit here, even without anyone explaining it.
"I was just looking out for the company. He has a history with us, but there were no records of him in the company. I still don't know how there was no record of Haneul's trainee days. I got concerned. So…" Vice-president Go Yoo Han knew he fucked up and gave the half-truth.
He was indeed worried about Choi Haneul, but there was nothing he could find. It was that moment their CEO's mother called him and gave him the money to contact a private detective. She asked him to get the details she wanted to know about the new choreographer Mr Han who SMJ sent.
He also naively agreed to do the task and did not think twice before signing the contract with the private detective as it was for the company's benefit.
