Chasing Eternity

Was this world really enough? What are the best things one can achieve in this world?
Marcus' mind was plagued by such thoughts throughout his youth. Thus he always strived to be the best at whatever he did. Despite being born into a privileged family with loving parents and siblings, he never took his advantages for granted and made as much use of them as he could.

Born during the First World War, enlisted in the Second World War, and after surviving many near-death situations, Marcus often thought of living the best life possible.

With a very healthy lifestyle with occasional cheat days, a very successful career with a decent work-life balance, a loving wife, 2 loving children, 3 loving grandchildren, and a very close-knit group of friends Marcus excelled in all aspects of life one could.

However, as he lay on his deathbed at the age of 104, surrounded by his loving family, he felt both grateful and bitter. Grateful for the fulfilling life he had led and bitter because he knew just how much more he could have had if only he could live for a little longer, If only he were not restricted by the flow of time, if only he was immortal...

Thus he took a final look at his loving family and then there was darkness. And in the darkness, a voice spoke:

[YOUR WISH IS GRANTED. THE FLOW OF TIME WILL NOT PUSH YOU TOWARD DEATH. THE COST IS YOUR LIFE].

And thus began my second life.

Author's Note: This is my first proper novel (fingers crossed) and I will continue improving as we move ahead with the journey.

I hope that all readers like my work but that is something close to impossible for a newbie like me.
