Chapter 11: Chapter 10 Δέκα

"Christopher." as I heard that familiar voice, I immediately woke up, startled.

"Huff Huff Huff-" I tried my best to grasp some air, but nothing seemed to work, as hot as I felt, I ran to the circular ship's window and heaved deeply, but I could only sustain on it for a short while, there was practically no air in this place. And if I didn't get out of here as soon as possible, I was soon going to be fried chips. So desperately, I thought of stepping out of my cabin, even though that was the last thing I would have ever wanted to do before I got to New York, but this was no joke, the journey was supposed to last about 5-6 days which meant that, if I stepped out of this room, I would tormented by my stalker for about 5-6 days.

But I needed the breeze at that moment, I couldn't explain why but all my whole system crawled with fire, I was very sweaty and my duvet could witness how sweaty I was, the cloth was all soaked and wet, disgustingly from my perspiration. And if I had taken another minute in that room, only the underworld knew what could've happened.

I opened my cabin and looked around skeptically until I was sure that there was nobody in the passageway, then I slowly began to tip toe along. I roamed around, trying to retrace my steps, all I wanted to do at that point was to get to the ship's bow, unnoticed.

Why unnoticed? You ask, well who ever wants to behold a guy completely wet from his own sweat? Not me, at the least.

As I roamed around the maze-like ship, I finally came across a door worth calling an exit from this hot oven, and when I opened the door, I felt the chilly rain breeze in its full power. That was just the stuff I needed.

Alongside, I sighted at a beer corner, some young folks. They were having drinks and laughing maniacally, especially if someone said something that wasn't supposed to funny. Geez, they were very annoying, and their jolly laughing seemed to echo all over the ship. However, they seemed distracted, so I quietly snucked past them so they won't force me to come have drinks with them, of course, they all were guys and girls, some looked like they were of my age and the others seemed only a year or two older than me.

As I reached the bow of the ship, I couldn't help but let out a comfortable sigh, the whole place seemed as still as it could've been and my whole became calm the moment I ascended there. The moon had its light spread far wide across the ocean, and it only became more beautiful anytime an orca dived out of the water. I tried to take in the happiness but I couldn't, this beautiful scenario only reminded me of mom.

But the only the thing mom reminded me of was the nightmare, where I was sure someone had impersonated her so as to haunt me. The nightmare was the reason why I had that strange overheating and there was no odds that there was something aching about that dream. And what was more strange was that many people had been asking me in my dreams, why I killed my mother, or maybe this was a setup, I didn't know what was happening to me but I knew Hades had something to do with it.

At that moment, a memory sparked into my mind, I saw myself, but rather an angry version of myself, my face was literally cracked open in different places and some black gas kept emitting from the crack, I appeared as though I was wounded, but I wasn't wounded, at least not physically. My face became pale at every second I looked at myself and I just couldn't bear to look at that horrible monster, which was me.

When I finally opened my mouth to say something, my vision blurred out,and I could see was the ocean, again.

I throbbed my head in pain as my vision faded, it seemed as though I knew what I Wanted to say but I just couldn't remember, so I kept disturbing my brain, trying to recollect what I was going to say. It took a few moments doing that until Tori finally showed up out of the blue.

"What are you doing?" She asked.

Her voice took me by surprise so I quickly tilted all over, before a slight frown quickly formed on my face. "None of your business." I turned back and faced the azure.

"Oh, okay. Hey, you finally decided to visit camp right?" Though I wasn't looking, I could still sense her smiling.

"What do you think? The fact that I'm going to NYC doesn't mean the camp is my stop."

"Oh, alright." Tori replied, rather sadly. "But why do you want to go somewhere else, I mean, I guessed you'll rather be anywhere than camp."

"You guessed right."

"Why?"

"I'm not in the mood for your questions Tori."

And then suddenly, she walked towards where I stood, at the bow. She leaned on the rails and then she looked at me straight in the eyes, curiosity clear in her expression, this went for a while, and it felt really awkward. I had to look away. "What?"

"Your eyerims..." She started, "... They're pale, very pale, have you had any sleep ever since the incident?"

"Not your business."

"Oh, sorry blackface." She raised her hands in surrender and faced the sea. And at that moment, I felt like I needed my peace to myself. After a long while of prolonged silence, I still felt uncomfortable, so I decided to retire back to my room, though, surrending to a girl wasn't something I anticipated.

"You're going already?" She called out to me.

"..."

"Hey, wait up."

"Oh please don't follow me." I thought.

I walked quickly through every corner in that ship, but Tori made sure she tailed me smoothly, the last thing I wanted her to figure out was the location of my room so I made sure to maneuver her through some unknown places, places that I myself didn't know. Soon enough, I felt lost, and if you've never been lost in a cargo ship, you can't understand that feeling. Painful part was that, Tori got lost with me, and even worse, none of us had a dang map!

I felt frustrated and tired, and that's the kind of thing that bugs you when you have a private stalker. I decided to take a look around, but the environment here was nothing but an endless passageway, I could've guessed we were really deep down into the ship because the only thing I could hear was gurgles of sea water.

"We can retrace our steps right?" Tori suggested aimlessly.

Out of sudden frustration, I grabbed her by her shoulders and pushed her to the wall. "Why do you keep following me?!"

"Because... Because I figured out you've been brooding lately, and as a friend I just wanted to make you happy."

"Okay, let's make two things clear here, first of all, we aren't friends! And two, if you hadn't tried to make me happy, we won't be stuck in this maze-like ship."

"Maybe we should wait for an attendant."

"Just forget it..." I released my grip from her. "There is nobody on this floor to attend to to anyways."

"But we could always retrace-"

Tori stopped talking because we both heard a familiar voice. "Asssssellle, don't you worry about thosssse hossstages, onccce we take our placcce as generalsss, we would be able to eat whoever we want to."

"Ms Ella!" We both chorused in whispers, what was the teacher doing on a ship when she had work to do as a "teacher".

Like it happened instinctively, we both snuck through the passages, trying to figure out where the voice came from. But even before we could figure out what the teacher was up to, a large door shut behind them, it's echoes filled the whole passageway.

"Come on." Tori said and began moving, and even though it felt like a stupid thing to do, I still curiously followed her.

As we got to the big door, which was about 8 meters tall, and 3 feet wide, we placed on hears on it, trying to eavesdrop. But the door was too thick, we couldn't hear a thing.

"What are we gonna do now?" Asked Tori.

"We turn back and leave, it's too dangerous to just barge in. It might be a trap." I said, matter-of-fact lyk.

"Trap or no trap, they have hostages." She whispered.

"So?"

"If we risked our lives to save just Gema, I don't see why we can't do the same for some hostage(s)"

"Goodluck being the hero." I turned my back and made to leave.

"Really?" She looked at me bewildered, "Do as you wish, ain't gonna drag you into this one."

Before I could even think, she kicked the door open and rushed in, and yet, she was unarmed. "Oh Hades." I sighed, this was really not I wanted to do, but since she rushed into that room, I guess I had no choice than to follow her.

With the same strength, I kicked the door open and rushed in, but I guess I shouldn't have, because there was immediate darkness, and the big door seemed to shut quickly.

"Hey Tori, I can't see a thing." I said, rather scared.

"Yeah, this isn't good." She spoke behind me, at least I had an idea that she was the one leaning on my back.

"And who do we have here, two half bloods eh?" Someone spoke and it echoed really fiercely, we eventually figured out this wasn't a room, but a hall, a really big one at that.

And it was definitely packed with monsters.

"Tori, you should've just listened to me, it is a dang trap!"
