"Can you turn on the light, Mason?"

"Oh, there's no need for that. It's night. Let me help you to collect your stuff under your leg," Mason insisted. 

Unfortunately, the darkness limited my vision caused me to miss the most important thing because it was out of my range. 

Mason's hand reached it first and checked it, "An earring box?"

"Ah, that's—" I tried to grab it from his hand, but it was too late. He had already grabbed it tightly and opened the earring box.

Mason Hall saw the ruby and emerald earrings, and he looked stunned. Even in this darkness, the ruby and emerald were shining so clearly, "This is… my gift, right?"

I snatched the earring box and closed the lid immediately. I put it inside my small bag again, "I—It's nothing, Mason. Let's keep going."

"No, Em," Mason shook his head and refused to keep going. "How could I ignore this? You're holding a gift that I gave you! That means you truly like my gift, right?"
