Chapter 34: -34- Horikita Suzune's goal

"Wait!"

Just as Nanaya Hori and Ayanokouji Kiyotaka were about to leave, Horikita Suzune called out to them.

"Do you really have no interest in advancing to Class A?" Horikita Suzune asked Nanaya Hori and Ayanokouji Kiyotaka, seemingly unable to understand.

It's a normal question.

You see, now it's not like before, where all the conditions here could be considered favorable treatment.

Except for Class A, there's no guarantee of further education or employment in the other classes, and that's already confirmed.

And the reason people come to this school is for that near 100% guarantee of further education and employment, right?

It's unthinkable for someone not to want to advance to Class A for this reason.

But unfortunately, Nanaya Hori and Ayanokouji Kiyotaka are just such unthinkable individuals.

"I already said it, didn't I? I don't want trouble; I just want to live quietly in this school, and that's enough for me," Ayanokouji Kiyotaka replied in his characteristic emotionless tone, making it clear he had no enthusiasm for advancing to Class A.

Nanaya Hori was the same.

"I didn't come to this school to advance in education or employment; I just want to experience things I haven't experienced before and because I'm fed up with adults' arrangements," Nanaya Hori replied, looking at Horikita Suzune.

"Whether I'm in Class A or Class D, it doesn't make much difference to me."

Ultimately, Nanaya Hori came here just to experience school life he hadn't experienced before.

Although striving for Class A as a goal would be a rare and valuable experience, given the situation, most people would give up on that goal unless they had special determination.

The reason is simple.

"Even if you want to advance to Class A, it's extremely difficult."

Nanaya Hori posed the biggest question to Horikita Suzune.

"Look at our current class points and personal situations. Anyone can understand that advancing to Class A seems distant to the point of despair."

Currently, the difference between the four classes is quite clear.

Class A has 940 class points.

Class B has 650 class points.

Class C has 490 class points.

Class D has a total of 0 class points.

If, as Chabashira Sae mentioned earlier, all four classes started with 1000 class points, then in this month, Class A has only had 60 class points deducted.

In contrast, Class D has lost all its class points in just one month, which clearly demonstrates how much the level of Class D differs from that of Class A.

Even if Class D adheres to basic campus life regulations to some extent to prevent further point deductions, there are currently too many unclear aspects of the S System's rules.

Class A, which gathers outstanding talents capable of self-management, self-discipline, self-improvement, and self-control, can naturally avoid many risks.

But Class D is in dire straits, with all the problem children clustered together. Who can guarantee that one of them won't cause trouble?

Moreover, the gap between the two classes has widened completely.

With a difference of nearly 1000 class points, how can Class D, filled with problem children, overtake Class A, which gathers outstanding talents?

Just thinking about it makes one feel despair.

Of course...

"Next, the school should provide opportunities to narrow the gap, but that's not something we can consider now."

Nanaya Hori's statement elicited a response from Horikita Suzune.

"The school will provide opportunities to narrow the gap?"

Horikita Suzune seemed to not understand the meaning of this statement.

Ayanokouji Kiyotaka didn't seem to have any doubts. He still had that lifeless look.

Obviously, Ayanokouji Kiyotaka, like Nanaya Hori, probably has some guesses about what measures the school will take next.

This reminded Horikita Suzune of Chabashira Sae's words.

"Compared to you, the other two are much more outstanding."

Recalling this, Horikita Suzune felt intense regret in her heart.

Getting Horikita Suzune, who has a strong sense of self-esteem, to admit that she's not as good as others is not that easy.

"Even though the gap is large right now, there are still three years ahead, and no one knows what might happen," Horikita Suzune declared with determination.

"I won't be content to stay in Class D. If the school really judges me only at the level of Class D, then I absolutely have to climb up," she announced.

In other words, Horikita Suzune's goal has been confirmed, right?

"I aim to advance to Class A," Horikita Suzune said with a strong voice. "I absolutely must advance to Class A."

Only this goal is absolute.

Horikita Suzune demonstrated this determination.

Is it to prove that she's not defective? Or for some other reason?

Nanaya Hori and Ayanokouji Kiyotaka don't know.

They only know one thing.

"That's going to be quite hard, isn't it?" Ayanokouji Kiyotaka kindly reminded her. "Aside from anything else, you'll first have to get the problem children in the class to mend their ways. Tardiness, cutting class, chatting during class, and the upcoming mid-term exams—all of these hurdles must be overcome."

Just thinking about how tough it will be makes it clear.

But Horikita Suzune isn't just talking.

"I can't solve the problems in the class, but Hirata-kun must be trying to convince the students in the class. At least, the issues of tardiness and cutting class will be addressed first, and the rest will also restrain themselves from their reckless behavior in the future. Even if they don't strive to advance to Class A, nobody would want to maintain the miserable situation of having 0 class points."

After all, the abundance of class points directly determines the amount of personal points students can receive each month.

If the class points remain at 0, the students in Class D won't receive any personal points.

There surely wouldn't be anyone who could accept such a situation.

No, maybe someone as arrogant as Kouenji Rokusuke might not care.

But surely the rest wouldn't want it, right?

So, even if they don't aim for Class A, the students in Class D will try their best to increase the class points.

For this reason, Hirata Yousuke, Karuizawa Kei, and Kushida Kikyou are probably already persuading their classmates to at least maintain basic discipline and avoid getting points deducted.

"As for the upcoming mid-term exams, those who fail will be expelled. And as Chabashira-sensei just mentioned, the handling of expulsion points is also within the scope of the S System. If someone is expelled, there's a good chance the class points will fluctuate significantly. So, we must ensure that no one fails this mid-term exam."

With that said, Horikita Suzune looked at Nanaya Hori and Ayanokouji Kiyotaka.

And she posed this question:

"Tell me honestly, if you study seriously, what kind of grades can you achieve?"
