Chapter 1: Chapter One
Technology...something that the whole world focuses a lot. It's shocking how much it has been improved from one generation into the other and the other. It doesn't feel like a while ago when the worldwide web and internet were finally combined and created, but now people have been creating a whole artificial intelligence that can believed to be helpful to improve people's lifestyle. There won't be doubts if unexpectedly the breaking news would announce of a new flying car's release!
However, this is not exactly what the story is about. It's about 2 best friends, Flora and Chloe, who had no idea that the game they about to experience would happen to bring them into a quite unexpected adventure...
"Flora!" Chloe shouted her friend's name in the phone call, with full of excitement and cheer.
"Chloe!" Flora replied as she copied her friend's voice tone, "Why're you shoutin'? Y'know I can hear you clearly" she added with slightly lower tone.
"Flora, you won't believe what I got!" The girl still continued shouting, "I got the last copy of the newest game that everyone were gossiping about!"
"Wait? You mean that game, the called realistic game?" Flora asked, with more excitement this time.
"Exactly sis, this game, it got released but only a few as this game is still in a development" Chloe stated, "But, ya girl Chloe managed to get this game, and what's better is that its a 2 player game!"
"Oh my jeez, so that means..??" Flora said and then paused, waited for her friend to finish the sentence as she knew that both of them had the same idea of what this whole thing meant.
"This meaaans we can play this game together!" Chloe answered.
"That's amazing! When should we try the game out?" Flora asked.
"Right now! I'm by your door, open up!" Chloe replied and hung up straight after.
Flora didn't hesitate and immediately got up from her bed and speed walked down the stairs to look at the door eye to see if Chloe was actually by her door. And there she was, standing with a quite big package with her. Flora swing the keys and opened the door for her friend.
As soon as she closed the door, the 2 girls went upstairs to Flora's room to have a go at the game that Chloe has gotten.
The whole instruction of the game's structure was a little bit confusing for them to understand, but eventually they sorted it out and managed to connect every necessary cables that needed to be plugged for the game to work. The game box and its design didn't looked like any other casual play stations or Xbox, however, this one wasn't needed to be plugged into a computer or television. It was working without those devices, likewise, it didn't have controllers. Instead, it had helmet with 2 cables already connected to them. Helmets were metal with pale green colour, and when worn, would cover half of the face.
"Is this a controller?" Flora asked as she pointed at one of the helmets that she was already holding on her hands.
"I guess so" Chloe replied, still confused of the whole design of this game.
"Are you sure it's the game? It looks like some sort of machine that would use our brain to hypnotize us like from those movies..." Flora said as she felt unsure whether to put the helmet on.
"Yes I'm sure. It supposed to technically teleport you in the game's platform" Chloe stated as she grabbed the second helmet, "I believe it's like a teleportation helmet so we'd feel the game more realistically... but don't worry we won't die or something, haha." Chloe added and gave a little chuckle.
"That's not what I was thinking..." Flora said, then sat herself down on the floor beside her bed, which Chloe did the same. "What if we get stuck in that game? You told me yourself that the game is not fully finished and still in development"
"Flora, if it was that dangerous, do you think the company would sell it? They are aware of consequences and prepared for anything to avoid any issues that could happen" Chloe tried to confront her friend beside her, "Don't worry girl, everything will be fine, I promise"
Flora sighed then nodded. "Ok, I believe you...let's put that piece of plastic on our heads" Flora spoke with a smile. Chloe nodded with a cheerful smile and then 2 girls put the helmets on their heads at the same time. 5 seconds passed and the 2 girls got teleported into a whole new world.
The teleportation went very fast that the 2 girls barely noticed they came into an unknown place that they never seen before. The place believed to be a lobby, with quite glamorous design. The room had a large window across half of the plain light purple wall, and a light purple leather sofa was placed not very far away from the window. A plasm TV was in the room as well, and was coloured in dark themed colours, nearly whole black. However, the TV wasn't standing or hanging on the wall, perhaps in floated in air, while faced the sofa. The ceilings were designed very classical but with the same theme colours as the sofa was, light purple.
On the side there was a bar with nobody, with unknown drinks. The floor was light blue neon coloured with no texture on it and on the further left side of the room, there were stairs leading up to some other rooms.
"Whoa..." Chloe's first words pronounced in the lonely room.
The 2 girls were standing next to each other, observing their surroundings and admired the unique design that they saw on front of them. "This is incredible..." Flora mumbled with a surprised face expression.
"See??? And you were scared to wear that helmet" Chloe laughed at Flora a little, then said something more, "to be honest, I never thought technology can be so advanced to create a gaming platform like this, I wonder how we start playing it..."
Suddenly, Flora looked down, and noticed that she looked exactly the same as she used to look back in her bedroom. The same bugs bunny pyjama were on her, which made the girl gasp. "Oh my lord, do we have to change our outfits? I look ridiculous!" She asked in a complaint tone.
"Nahhhh, who's going to see you anyway apart from me? We're all alone, with some computers, so it doesn't matter how you look" Chloe confronted Flora, who then nodded and gave a small smile.
Out of nowhere, a small metal ball flew on front of the girls. That robotic figure was a size of a baseball, but had 2 little antennas that were sticking on the top of that thing. The little fella was coloured in purple and suited well with the theme of this room. The thing opened its square dark purplish neon eyes and glanced at the girls who seemed to be in shock. It then started to speak with a sweet female but robotic voice:
"Hello new heroes. Thank you for purchasing this amazing platform, I believe you will have a wonderful time playing while exploring all different kinds of games that I'm about to present to you in a moment. My name is QR Kikibyte, but you can call me KQ for short"
"Whoa.." Chloe mumbled again, admired with what her eyes were witnessing right now, "do we have to type on something to communicate with this thing or speak to it?" She turned to Flora and asked while glancing back at the flying robot from a corner of her eye.
Before Flora could reply, the robot that is preferred to be called as KQ, answered for her:
"You do not have to use keyboard to communicate with me as I contain a full ability to understand heroes through their speech"
"Whoa..." Chloe mumbled the same word for the third time before she gave an excited smile.
KQ continued its talk:
"To not waste anymore of your time, I'd like to collect your names first before I explain to you the instructions of this game"
Then two white boards floated towards the girls. Also two pens appeared from the girl's sides for them to take it to write their names on that futuristic looking boards.
"Oh my gosh, so far I'm loving this game, and it hasn't even officially started yet" Flora spoke with a smile while having a pen on her hand and drawing letters on the board to create her name on it.
"See, all thanks to ya girl Chloe" Chloe said with a proud tone, which made Flora to feel a little amused as she gave out a small chuckle.
Once they finished writing their real names on the boards, these boards and the pens vanished as if they weren't even in present. KQ continued to explain further instructions:
"FLORA and CHLOE, what are wonderful names, now listen carefully to the following instructions"
A floating menu icon has appeared on front of the each girl.
"As you can see, these are your menu buttons which you can use to exit or enter the game, and furthermore. To use it, all you have to do is to touch it with your finger and further options will be presented on front of you. With this icon you'd also be able to see the instructions options again in case you get lost through what you need to do during your chosen adventure. Unfortunately, there's no pause button, yet, but do not worry too much about it as when you leave the game without finishing it, your progress will automatically be saved and you will manage to continue with the game as soon as you join back to it"
Suddenly the menu button disappeared.
"To not distract you from the game, the menu button will be gone, but do not worry too much about it as all you do is to clap once with your hands, and the menu button will reappear to you again"
"Okay okay, when do we start to play games already?" Inpatient Chloe spoke as she seemed to feel those instructions being explained too long.
KQ paused for a few moments before speaking:
"I assume you have understood the instruction, which means we may now proceed to the game. Please follow me to the television beside us"
KQ flew to the plasma and turned it on with just flicks of its eyes. The two girls followed, with bright smile on their faces as they felt the burst of mixed emotions running through them right then. They observed the TV's screen that already had different images sorted in order. Each image had something written above, which believed to be the title that belonged to each of them. KQ proceeded to continue with its further explanations:
"This is the television in where you'd manage to choose your game. Each image contains different worlds with different missions which you will have to complete in order to win. Some of them may include levels as well, to make the gameplay longer and more excited! Go ahead and choose a game you want to try first."
"There are so many choices, I don't even know from where to start..." Flora said as she stared at the screen. She tapped left to right on the screen to scroll furthermore to see more options, and eventually to be able to choose a game that would appear to be the most appealing for her.
Chloe decided to take a closer look as well, and stopped Flora from scrolling further away from one game that caught Chloe's attention. "Let's play "Underground Maze"" Chloe suggested, in which Flora seemed to agree without hesitation.
"That's an excellent choice! The game has been selected and you're now going to teleport into a new world, have fun!"
KQ vanished as soon as it finished talking, and everything else around the girls began to swirl and spin around. Yet, it didn't take long when they have already teleported into an unknown place, that seemed much darker than it was back in the lobby.
