Chapter 16: 28. Mo Ting Xiao, the lovesick cat
" The surprise was very beautiful… I loved it….", Mo Ting Xiao said after everyone stopped laughing. Lu Chang Chang just smiled in response.
Mo Ting Xiao fell into a daze and continued staring at her beautiful face. Lu Chang Chang had already picked up her chopsticks along with the others and continued eating. Neither did she nor the others pay any attention to the dazed Ting Xiao.
Li Sing Tan was sitting next to Mo Ting Xiao. Feeling no movement from the other side he looked up. He saw Mo Ting Xiao just stare at Lu Chang Chang like a lovesick cat.
" Oh God Ting Xiao…. Just stop staring at your wife and eat… No one is going to take her away..", Li Sing Tan exclaimed.
This made everyone look at Mo Ting Xiao.
Mo Ting Xiao, who just got out of his daze was embarrassed and shocked. He immediately smacked Li Sing Tan's head and said," Stop spouting nonsense.".
Li Sing Tan just chuckled in response and continued eating. Yup… It was most definitely nonsense…
Lu Chang Chang didn't pay much attention to his comment and continued eating…
After they finished their meal, Lu Chang Chang said that he had to light lanterns. They walked towards the other side of the corridor where the twenty seven red lanterns were hung in a straight line.
Mo Ting Xiao counted the number of lanterns and was surprised seeing twenty seven lanterns instead of twenty six." I turned twenty six years old today… Why are there twenty seven lanterns??", he asked while looking at Chang Chang with a confused gaze.
The others hadn't paid much attention to the number of lanterns. Only when Mo Ting Xiao asked the question did they notice that there were actually twenty seven lanterns.
" I know that you just turned twenty six years old… The extra lantern is for good luck…", she replied with a smile.
Mo Ting Xiao and the others just nodded their heads.
One of the maids brought over the special candle used to light lanterns and gave it to Chang Chang. She took it and lit it. She then gave it to Mo Ting Xiao.
He took the candle and walked towards the lanterns. He slowly lit each of the candles with a smile. He was recollecting the smile on Lu Chang Chang's face.
' I hope you will stay with me forever Chang Chang…. My love…'. He thought. This was also the wish he made before blowing the candle earlier.
The others were watching this with a smile….
The entire night was filled with chatting and laughter. They enjoyed each other's company.
Li Sing Tan left when it was almost midnight. Liu Chen decided to drop him off as he was a bit tipsy. Chu Chu left with the maids to sleep.
Lu Chang Chang and Mo Ting Xiao were walking towards their night chambers in silence. While Lu Chang Chang was looking ahead and walking, Mo Ting Xiao was busy admiring the beauty beside him.
Both of their night chambers were next to each other. When they reached the stairs, they turned and faced each other.
" Happy birthday again….", Lu Chang Chang said with a beautiful smile.
Mo Ting Xiao didn't know what got into him, but he pulled her in for a hug. Just as usual, Lu Chang Chang was surprised. She just patted his back wordlessly.
He pulled out after a few seconds and said," Thank you sooo much Chang Chang….".
She just smiled." So…. Good night and sweet dreams….", she said with a wave before hopping into her chamber.
Because she was already almost out of ear shot, Mo Ting Xiao just waved back before walking in to his chamber.
They both slept with bright smiles, not knowing about the storm that was about to come…..
