Chapter 71: Dark Gaze

After returning and getting a good night's rest, Genji woke up to the sound of chirping birds and footsteps.

His eyes slowly opened and Genji looked at the large group of Omashu citizens conversing and chatting in such a lively manner.

Getting up, Genji stretched and turned to look at Aang, noticing him meditate.

Without any strange gestures or anything different from usual, Genji also sat down to meditate, but to attempt and enter the Spirit World.

'If I remember correctly, you don't need to be an airbender to enter the Spirit World. Though I can't say the same about the spiritual projection…' thought Genji as he opened an eye and glanced at Aang.

Because of this, Genji won't be able to learn spiritual projection any time soon without Airbending.

However, with no way to get Airbending right now, Genji could only wait until an opportunity arrived. Finding a book, making Aang create one, or find another way.

He had already attempted to create the Airbending skill by mimicking Aang's moves and attacks, but it didn't work.

In the end, Genji couldn't even move the energy within his body the way he wanted, it was like it only followed the pathways of the skills he knew. Because of his physician skill, Genji knew he had unused pathways in his body, but he couldn't make any energy travel through them even with acupuncture.

Because of this, Genji focused on enhancing his strongest skills before focusing on the other one's.

Clearing his mind, Genji threw away any thoughts and focused on a point far away.

A point that could connect him to the Spirit world.

"…"

Shh…

A soft breeze passed by Genji's ear, blowing his hair lightly.

Opening his eyes, Genji was pleasantly surprised to have entered the Spirit World in his first try.

'Must be my spirit stat,' thought Genji as he looked around at the beautiful area around him.

Luck must have been on Genji's side since he appeared at the pleasant side of the Spirit World and not the dark side.

"Ffff! Ah~, maybe it's just the spiritual energy in the air, but it smells fresh here."

Walking around the area with a smile, Genji walked around with a smile, enjoying the scenery in the Spirit World.

He walked and gazed at all the different spirits with amazement, all of different sizes, colors, and shapes.

Suddenly, a small and white spirit with stubby legs and arms walked over to Genji, its cute and cartoonish face looked at Genji.

Piii~

The white spirit walked around Genji and made a small and cute noise as it inspected him.

Genji watched the white spirit with interest as he continued to walk around the Spirit World. It trailed behind him, following him like a baby duck does to its mother duck.

Chuckling as he glanced at the small spirit, Genji decided to give it a name.

"I'll name you Bob," joked Genji, surprisingly, the spirit liked it as it ran around Genji happily.

Pipipipi!

'Damn…looks like I have a small friend named Bob now…'

***

Somewhere in the Northern Water Tribe, a group of young female warriors were on a journey to visit various tribes.

One particular lady was the leader of these warriors, a young looking lady with a cheery yet serious look on her face. Her hands were clenched around the closed war fans.

'Genji… where are you?'

After leaving Kyoshi Island, Suki had been traveling around the world in hopes of helping the people. However, she did so by following anything that could pinpoint her towards Genji.

She had no luck until she had heard about the story of the Fire Nation attacking the Northern Water Tribe.

The instant she had heard that, she had a vague feeling that Genji was there. She didn't know why, but she decided to trust that feeling and head over to the Northern Water Tribe.

Along the way over to the Northern Water Tribe, Kyoshi helped as many people as she could as she made a beeline towards the Northern Water Tribe.

The instant Suki had arrived at the Capital City of the Northern Water Tribe, Suki knew that Genji had been there.

A huge hint that laid right in the middle of the city for all to see even from the entrance of the city.

A large statue that looked exactly like Genji.

Now, Suki could rest knowing that Genji wasn't with the Fire Nation.

Bringing pain and disaster to people…

She could rest, relax and look forward to meeting him with happy feelings. However, she will leave it up to date now.

For now, she will help the people with the Fire Nation.

She will visit the lone tribes of the Northern Water Tribe that couldn't receive any help during the raid.

Hana, the Vice-Leader of the Kyoshi Warriors and Suki's best friend, approached Suki and pointed to a pillar of smoke in the distance.

"Let's hurry, a nearby village is being attacked by Fire Nation Soldiers," said Hana.

Suki nodded and was just about to issue the order when she noticed something over the hill of snow.

"Hold on," whispered Suki.

Slowly approaching the hill, Suki peeked over and noticed a small group of six Fire Nation Soldiers making their way over to the nearby burning village.

Turning to the other Kyoshi Warriors, Suki did a couple of hand gestures before making a move.

Half of the Kyoshi Warriors followed Suki whilst the rest headed to the nearby village with Hana leading them.

Suki moved quickly and quietly on the snow with four Kyoshi Warriors to her sides.

Jumping up into the air, Suki caught the Fire Nation soldiers in surprise as she kicked out with both her legs at the two soldiers, the sound of helmets banging against each other ranging out.

Ba-bang!

The two soldiers were kicked to the ground and the other Kyoshi Warriors also made their move as they attacked the stunned soldiers.

"Ah!"

"Amb-ugh!"

"Take them down and tie them up!" Suki ordered as she struck the two Fire Nation Soldiers once more.

Bam!

One dropped to the floor but the other soldier managed to evade Suki's attack before jumping back and sending a blast of fire over.

Bang!

Suki dodged quickly and spread out her War Fans along with the other four Kyoshi Warriors.

Two more Fire Nation soldiers escaped the clutches of the Kyoshi Warriors and joined the other soldier.

"Take them out!"

Bang! Bang!

The Fire Nation Soldier roared as he jumped forward and shot two fire blasts over to Suki and another Kyoshi Warrior.

"Burn!"

The Fire soldiers attacked and blasted with all their might towards Suki and the other four.

Suki dodged quickly to the side and the other Kyoshi Warrior wasn't too lucky as she was blasted back. Luckily enough, the Kyoshi Warrior blocked with the metal war fans, preventing any fatal injuries.

"Ha!"

With a strong yell, Suki dashed forward and sent a single metal war fan flying over to the Fire soldier, hitting them right in the head.

Ping!

Their head bounced back and when they focused back in front of them, Suki was nowhere to be seen.

!?!?

"Where?!"

Pang!

Their eyes rolled pack and they fell to the floor unconscious as Suki stood behind them with her hand on her war fan.

Turning to the side, Suki was glad to see that the other Fire soldiers were taken care of.

"Let's move," said Suki after tying up the Fire Nation soldiers.

Moving, Suki and the rest quickly made their way over to the rest of the Kyoshi Warriors.

A minute later, Suki's small group was right before the burning village. All of the houses were made from ice, but clothes, posts, and various flammable objects were being destroyed in the entrance of the village.

Further within the village, Suki could hear shouts and the sound of fighting.

Not wasting a single second more, Suki moved the group and headed straight to the sound of fighting.

"Gah!"

"Take them out!"

"Defend!"

As Suki rushed over to the sound of fighting, Suki began to feel confused. She didn't hear the sound of Fire bursting through the air, but rather a watery sound.

When she arrived at the battle, Suki was shocked to see Hana's group fighting against a group of waterbenders.

Suki knew better than to question Hana right away and instead ran over to provide support.

Helping Hana out and blocking some attacks, Suki began to ask Hana what had happened. Hana smiled wryly and explained.

It seemed like these waterbenders were evil people who had already attacked this village and raided it, which happened a couple of days ago.

When they returned to the Village today they began to burn everything in order to lure in the Fire Nation soldiers that were nearby.

"This was a trap for the Fire Nation…" mumbled Suki as she quickly ordered a retreat.

All the Kyoshi Warriors quickly turned to leave, blocking attacks that they could block and dodging the rest.

"Quick! Let's leave this area," yelled Suki, suddenly feeling danger at the village.

Her eyes trailed over to the attackers and Suki didn't see any panic in their eyes, instead it was a mocking gaze. A gaze that made Suki feel like she couldn't leave the place anytime soon.

Suki suddenly felt chills as she continued to run, the waterbenders already very far away.

However, no matter how much she and the rest ran, it was already too late.

BOOM!

HISSSS!!

Without warning, a large amount of snow exploded into the air as a large shadow erupted out from the snow and towered over Suki and the other Kyoshi Warriors.

HISSS!

Suki felt like her legs were giving way as she looked at the large being standing before her. Her eyes were wide and she stared at the dark spirit before her in shock.

"Run!!"

***

With eyes wide open in surprise, Genji was looking at the black eyes staring right at him.

He couldn't believe what he was seeing at all.

After all, the owner of those black eyes was him!

He was looking at himself in the river he found within the Spirit World.

'The Spirit World sure is trippy,' thought Genji as he turned to Bob who was also looking at his own reflection.

Bob's reflection was another him, but with a silly black mustache.

Genji chuckled and patted the spirit's head before waving his hand and disappearing.

Pi!

Opening his eyes, Genji looked over at Aang who was still meditating before standing up and stretching. He checked his inventory and quickly frowned when he found that it was empty and had nothing in it.

Though to tell the truth, last time Genji had checked this was before the Fire Nation's invasion on the Northern Water Tribe.

He sighed and wondered what could have happened to everything that was in it, especially the staffs he had made for himself.

With a sigh, Genji decided to go ask the citizens of Omashu whether they had a spear they could gift him.

After a couple of minutes of searching, bargaining, and trading, Genji got himself a metal staff.

'This is some good stuff,' thought Genji as he grabbed the staff and spun it in hands before nodding in satisfaction.

Seeing as how Aang was still meditating, Genji began to swing the staff around and train to increase the level of his skill.

Half an hour later, Aang finally woke up from his mediation session.
