Chapter 17: Chapter 16
We left Marisa house and even Reimu seemed irritated with how lackadaisical Marisa was at invading someone's house and stealing there stuff. "This is Gensokyo if nothing comes out of her stealing all those books I will eat a shoe." I said while flying my carpet back to the Hakurei Shrine
Reimu's eye twitched "I wont take a losing bet, I'm not that stupid but, I can hope there isn't another major incident for a while." She just laid back on the flying carpet and I was in agreement I was making good progress in finishing my magic tower and I already put the light absorbing ward my old cabin had so I had some offensive options.
"Hey! Hey you guys!" I heard a faint feminine voice crying out as I slowed down and saw a large fairy flying at us to catch up. She was petite in figure and wearing a blue dress that matched her blue hair and she had three large icicles flying behind her back on each side almost like wings.
"Ugh first it's Marisa and now its Cirno, today can't get any worse." Reimu groaned before grabbing my arm. "Hey Jake um I never got to see how fast this thing could go why don't you show me hehe."
I just deadpanned "If you are so scared of the so called strongest fairy why don't you just fly away you are faster than my carpet and you know it..." But it was too late the vile evil monster known as Cirno finally caught up.
"Hey Reimu where you been. I haven't seen you seen you around the misty lake for a long while," She blabbered on about how she was freezing frogs in the misty lake and when she got bored she would go freeze the huge sun flowers past the human village and narrowly escape death by the strong Yokai living there.
'Ok I'm starting to understand why she wanted to escape my god she doesn't have an off button' So I cut her off seeing Reimu's eyes were like a dead fish's with how blank there were, she totally is her own world ignoring her! "Hey Cirno was it? I have a trick that can make me go super fast, if you can catch us I will duel you." I said with a mischievous grin. No amount of speed can beat teleportation haha!
"HA Cirno is the strongest there is so I accept you're challenge human!" She said boastfully holding her hands to her sides but I could see her ice wings fluttering in anticipation.
"Ok great Reimu hold my arm I got a new cool trick to show you." She complied with an indulging smile till I twisted us in a half-spin and apparated with a thunderous crack. As the one doing the teleporting the effects wasn't nearly as bad for me when we landed in my tower. where as when we landed Reimu staggered and I heard her hiccupping and trying not to retch as I pulled her a nearby sofa.
Woops I forgot side along apparating is much more rough on the extra person. "You ok Reimu?" I comforted and helped her to sit down and just rubbed her back to soothe her.
"If you surprise me with that again, I will shove a Yin Yang bomb where it doesn't shine." She groaned. Yeah I really, really don't wanna get hit by the bomb its like conceptual in how it grinds things down between the magical forces as it spins.
"Well at least we don't have to deal with that chatter box I swear I was losing braincells just standing there." Reimu just groaned and stood up obviously no longer nauseous.
"I need to get back home it's getting late and god knows if the Human Village will need me or a Yokai goes out of control." Reimu called out flying throwing one of my tower windows.
Seeing my neighbor leaving I settled in to continue one of the books Reimu loaned me from a friend in the Human Village. I was learning how to programmed spells which would have certain effects like for example a glyph that shoots several dozen blasting curses every second all I would need to do is feed the glyph my magic. I am guessing this is the precursor to the spell card system rules that will be put in place later to after to slow down the killing.
I went outside on my flying carpet to and flew a bit out and practiced throwing out my new glyph and started blasting blasting the debris literally building a wall around my ward line "Ok this is bullshit this crap is now filling up even during the day." I mumbled only to be surprised by a reply in response
"Well duh you have been pretty boring to watch. Seriously you haven't even invaded the underworld or tried to beat the goddesses on the Moriya Mountain!" I turned to the brat I was going to smash into a pancake with a tree and saw it was Chen.
Instead of crushing her with a tree I shot the most overpowered tickling jinx I could as my response, and dryly replied to the loli catgirl rolling in the air gasping for air trying to hold her sides "Yes well I distinctly remember being drugged and literally left on the side of a road to die by Yokai. So I don't particularly give a shit about what you think." I said ending the charm which left her shaking and trying to get her breath back
"Now what do you want, and why the hell did you make such a damn mess?" I said frowning, I know she is a troublemaker but this is just dickish like really who puts the effort to collapse a tree in front of someone's front door so they cant get in.
Chen sniffled "I just wanted you to go on adventures and not stay at home. Yukari and Ran got in a argument about it and they agreed if you could solve one of the coming incidents you could move in." Haaa I sighed regretting snapping on her so harshly, I forget for all that Chen is literally thirty years old she is basically stuck with the mentality of a ten year old but I was and still am butthurt about how they literally threw me away like Ellesmera did even if she says it was to protect me it still stung.
I just ran my hands through my hair thinking before mentally saying screw it if something came so be it, but I wont go crawling back for a handout, worse case scenario I can go through the Underworld and try to find my way to the devil faction and then hitch a ride back to Earth. "Ok I'm sorry for snapping but how was I supposed to even know that and its not like an Incident has even happened since I've gotten here so you can't blame me for finally getting a chance to relax."
Chen looked bashful and stuttered "Wwell Lady Yukari said one is coming and she told me so uh I helped make it happen sooner and helped Marisa steal more books and then steal all of Sakuya's knives oh and we also stole Flandre and Remilla's beds to make sure they couldn't sleep." Ok time to smash.
I opened the glyph and started blasting sending a string of red lasers that blasted the Yokai several meters away screaming in shock and pain amid the explosions. Relying on my lightning talent I adjusted the Glyph to start shooting small tracking snakes made of lightning at the retreating figure who responded with her own glyph that started rapidly firing fast flying butterfly's with razor sharp wings if the way they cut my snakes in half but the snakes had the advantage of exploding taking out more of her butterflies.
For the next minute we danced with explosions ringing out as we dodged, ducked, and most importantly weaved around the spells of our opponent. I started to mix it up and left flying magical mines that wouldn't register me and hurt me so I could fly through them but they would explode like taking a grenade to the face for other people.
Chen responded by making slow moving balls of magic that looked like an eye that shot out large volumes of small blades of solid magic that made it almost difficult to see so much was the sheer amount of spells in the air.
I teleported behind Chen and channeling my inner Sasuke I slapped the shit out of the back of her head with a jury rigged Chidori which sent her crashing into the ground with a earth sundering shake I felt Reimu could have felt at her temple.
"Wow Jake you are getting better I bet you could last for a few minutes against Chen if she was actually trying haha." A cocky and annoyingly familiar voice rang about above.
And reacting with a perfectly proportional response I roared with all the anger I felt at the cause of my problems "Fiendfyre! Burn you witch!" A massive western dragon made of dark purple flames exploded around the giggling woman and the solid flames that fed off of all matter and magic swatted her down with a oversized claw like a human would swat a fly making her crash into the ground around where Chen was gleefully watching perfectly fine and not even dirty from our fight where as I was exhausted.
"What the hell do you want Yukari?" I frowned and stood beside my dragon and guided it to absorb the magic and air around it to continue to fuel it.
Yukari just stood up and walked through a gap and knowing her pranks I had the dragon whip its tail right behind me which earned a sniff as she dodged and then came out to stand in front of me hovering with a lackadaisical grin. "Heya Jake that's certainly a nice piece of magic there wanna trade I might be able to snag a nice trinket to trade for it. And I don't know what I want, I was bored and just wanted to check on my new pet project." And with that she grinned maliciously and my dragon sensing my rising irritation prepared to pounce on the target.
Seeing us not explode she just giggled "Mooh I was hoping to show you around the neighborhood for what I understand you haven't made any friends except Reimu." Her voice lowered and became dangerous as she looked at me with half-lidded eyes. "And that is no fun at all."
I snorted at her "Yeah well apparently you guys already interfered and started an incident so you can just leave thank you very much." And with that dismissal that sent Chen giggling at how Yukari's game was up and the lady in question blustering I went back into my tower and turned my wards on full power and went to laydown.
