Cassandra's POV

A scream caught in my throat, as I feel the familiar coldness of the wooden floor. My thin blanket wrapped around my body and legs.

'Great! It's going to be another one of those mornings.' I groan and mentally roll my eyes.

I slowly entangle myself, from the death trap I call a blanket, and drag my sleepy butt towards the shower. My night gown soaked in the familiar sweat that I've woken up to for the past month.

"Tomorrows my birthday." I tell my reflection in the mirror that hangs on the wall.

I don't know why but I have the feeling that my reflection its staring back at me with her violet eyes.

Some days, I swear I have seen a twisted smile upon her lips out of the corner of my eye. Her eyes were pitch black back then.

But when I fully turned it was just my reflection.

The hot water licked my body, the droplets running down my voluptuousness before falling to the tiles. My body feeling heavy, as I feel the cool tiles slide down my back, the latest premonition weighing heavy on my mind. I slump against the sides of the shower and encircle my arms around my legs. Resting my forehead on my forearms, my mind races through the events of last night's premonition, the one I've been having for the past month.

'Tomorrow is my 17th birthday… and could possibly be my last.' My thoughts full of dread.

My 17th birthday. How much I've dreaded this day.

Our 17th birthday marks a special time in a young witch's life, a time that is supposed to be an exciting and eventful occasion. The day a young Witch is supposed to start understanding who or what they are. When all our lives we feel like a piece of ourselves are missing, when everything starts to click into place. A day where our beloved Goddess, Hecate, grants the young witches their full powers: but a last, whether I've been gifted or cursed by our Goddess, I've been able to tap into a portion of my powers since I was a mere child.

I involuntarily shudder at the memory and can't help the tears that burn my eyes. My first premonition, when I was only 6 years of age. I thought nothing of it, and just wrote it off to an extremely vivid dream.

The water and my body were cold as ice, but my mind is elsewhere, so I don't take notice as my skin turns white and my teeth are chattering. These premonitions wreak havoc on my already damaged and weakened body. Since I was born, I've had to pay, at times, daily visits to the local healer; because of this fragile heart I was born with. Someday soon it will be my downfall, I'm sure of it. Tomorrow, with my powers growing and gaining strength, I fear that I might not wake up.

Will my fragile heart be able to handle the stress and strain that seeing the inevitable future brings with them? will my next, push my body and mind to the breaking point and the Blake family curse, of pending madness, claim me and I lose my mind? Or what's left of it.

'Just like it was claiming my poor mother's.'

I ponder letting the icy water chill me to the bone.

A/N: Has anyone else had these kind of mornings or is it just Cassandra?

is the reflection in the mirror just a trick her eyes are playing or something else... thoughts?
