Chapter 2: PROCLIVITY.

Adora's pov.

I loved my job and everything to do with it, mostly because it was a source of distraction from my super 'amazing' life, and I highly appreciated that.

I worked as a field agent in the Wolf Security Agency [WSA] and it was safe to say I loved it to bits, we were a deep undercover system dealing with 'special' law breakers, by special I mean we never interfered with packs or clans, no that was way easy and they had their alphas to deal with, we dealt with wolves of higher power, the half breeds, the seers, the elders and early descendants and the re incarnated wolves, yes reincarnation was real to us super naturals, but it was a very rare occurrence, every wolf dreamed of ascending some day and living a pure, immortal and happy life with the moon goddess and their descendants such that the chances of a reincarnation happening were almost zero, unless acted upon by an evil force [that was pretty much nonexistent] or by the moon goddess herself whom I was pretty sure knew better than to create chaos within her own beings so in other words zero.

I arrived at my work place in exactly one hour and I couldn't have been happier, It was six am which meant I was still two hours early and that gave me enough time to train and do some other lazy stuff before everyone could arrive, but my joy was short lived when I saw a brand new shiny black bike parked just near the entrance gate, My nose twitched at the owner's coconut scent and I silently prayed to whoever listened, that his early arrival had a descent explanation that involved him leaving as soon as possible, I got into the semi huge building and headed straight to my office on the underground floor, the sound of his footsteps alerting me of his closeness, which resulted in me increasing my pace so as to avoid having any encounters with him or any other breathing creature but just when I'd reached for my door handle, I heard his annoying voice come from behind me, echoing all over the floor.

"mmhh mhh" he cleared his throat noisily, as a way to either catch my attention or he had a bad throat itch, I assumed it to be the latter and chose to excuse the disgusting way in which he'd chosen to go about his scratchy throat as I carefully placed my thumb print on the door handle and patiently waited for it to recognize me and open.

"Good morning, Precious, you surely are not planning to ignore and abandon me right here in this freezing cold, are you? I could die you know."

I rolled my eyes boredly at his stupid attempt at starting a conservation, he was a wolf for crying out loud, we didn't feel 'cold.' as for the death part though, he could die for all I cared, he had lived long enough anyways. I finally heard my door creak, and I huffed out a sigh of relief, "took you long enough" I mumbled to myself as I pushed it open wider and got in, slightly ready to begin my already ruined day, "do not follow me Tony" I called to him after I heard his footsteps nearing my door, I couldn't see him, yet, but I could damn well hear him,

"Well, princess, how else am I supposed to talk to you?" he asked from behind my door, and I was beginning to feel aggravated at this point, I hated nicknames, and I knew he was calling me that just to mess with me, I didn't want to 'talk', as a matter of fact I never did, and he damn well knew that, everyone did.

Tony was my field partner for about a two years now and he knew the rules, we only talked if, and only if it was about a mission, no small talks or any other stupid conversations in between, I hated that, I enjoyed silence, matter of fact I dwelled in it and I very much expected everyone else to respect that, we had not had any serious missions for a couple of months now and I was updated in each and every other thing that took place in the building which needed my attention and as far as I was concerned everything was in place as of now. All of the daily patrols and lack of call ins reporting anything out of place backed me up.

"This better be important, get in then." and he did, I silently followed his movements with my eyes, he was now standing three feet away from me, looking undecided on whether he should join me on my comfortable five seater recliner sofa or to stand seeing as I had no other chair in my office, his eyes were darting around from my chair, where I had now comfortably lain to the big table in the middle of the room, and the wardrobe at the far back, and I couldn't help but ask, "Are you seriously judging me right now?" He didn't even appear startled, as he turned to fully face me now, "No, I am still surprised your office arrangement is this laid back, you know, two years later, and I can't get over the fact that your office has a completely laid back personality, as compared to you, considering 'you' are the owner," .He answered, putting me in quotes, and I rolled my eyes at his response.

This was why I never let anyone in my office, what! just because I was twenty-four and the youngest, fittest, employee meant I couldn't care for my back by relaxing it each and every time I was idle?, judgmental asshole, the wardrobe however was for each time I felt like I had mismatched an outfit or my hair needed re adjustments, and It also had all of my training equipment including outfits, every sensible field agent had one, of course except Mr. Judgy pants right here, just because I was "stuck up" didn't mean I couldn't get comfortable.

"Remind me again, why you are here?" I asked, staring directly at his dark blue eyes, ignoring his earlier comment and being really curious as to why he was here, and at this time of the day, I was the punctual partner not the other way round, he opened his mouth as if to say something but shut it just as quickly, "Mmhh?" I questioned again, not quite understanding whatever it is he was trying to say.

Tony was a somewhat good looking twenty seven year old man, he was 6'3 feet tall, well fit, yes I know I had seen him shirtless a couple of times, with intense dark blue eyes and long black hair that was always fit in a perfectly tight bun, lucky bastard, he was an alpha male who'd given up his title for whatever stupid reason and had joined the workforce two years ago, after my then partner had mysteriously resigned, and Tony had been hired to take his place.

He sighed, then took in a deep breath while rubbing his hands together, a habit of his when he was nervous, I was beginning to get bored and anxious about this, "No seriously Tony, I don't really have ............."

"I got a call yester night" he rudely but calmly interrupted me, I wasn't mad, at least he was now speaking, "and?" I asked, urging him to continue, "and it was from the head, two female rogues were found dead on the boarder of blue moon pack, while three female members of the same pack were found injured and with no memory whatsoever of any of their attacks, and the Luna of the moon knight clan suddenly went missing on the same day as that of the attacks."

I looked at him unsure of what the last one had to do with us, "They went to bed together with the alpha, and he woke up alone, not a trace of her left anywhere, not even her scent, no broken locks or packed belongings, none of the guards saw a thing, it's like she just vanished into thin air, she is a descendant Adora, they just don't 'vanish'."

Wow that was a lot to take in, no wonder he was nervous, things like this didn't just happen, matter of fact, I had never heard of such events happening at the same time and to say I wasn't at least a little bit shaken up would have been a lie, "What do they think of it?" I asked referring to the heads, I watched as his expressions went blank and I got my answer before he even uttered a single word, fuck, this was really bad, "They say we are the best in the field, and you know we are, you are a natural Adora, they are trusting us with this case because they know we are dealing with something much bigger, and as of right now we are the only ones trained and skilled enough to do the job"

I sighed deeply as I massaged my temple, a habit of mine when I felt overwhelmed, I was anxious and scared a little bit, scared of what this mission would un ravel, I hoped it wouldn't be anything serious and that I would be back at my home in no time enjoying the feeling of nothingness and nature, but my gut told me otherwise, and then I asked the question that I did not want to hear the answer to.

"When do we leave?"
