Chapter 43: Found The Killer
"Ladies and gentlemen. I am sure you would have never seen these kinds of beauties. Each one of them looked no less than a noble and was never touched.
Though they are not trained well, they are so enchanting that you would never feel at loss. Now let me call the first one on stage.
He waited for a few seconds but none of the girls entered the stage, bringing a lot of slow voices around him.
He frowned and waved his hands to a man who nodded and left the stage only to come back empty handed with a pale face. He ran and came closer to the auctioneer and whispered a few words in his ears that made his frown grow bigger.
He whispered a few words back and a sheen of sweat could be seen forming on his face.
"The carriage that was bringing the goods was late. So, I have organized a dance show for you to keep you entertained. The auction will start in a few minutes.`` The auctioneer spoke in a soft voice and then left the stage hurriedly.
Soon a group of girls wearing skimpy clothes started to dance on the stage with seductive looks and alluring steps silencing the angry crowd.
Alex and Ethan exchanged glances and nodded their heads to each other while stealthily leaving their seats.
They followed the auctioneer who walked into the same room where the girls are to be kept but they have only found the strange girl with dark hair so far.
"Where the hell are the girls? Do not tell me that those lousy guards did not even check twice to make sure that the girls had entered the room!" he shouted at the two men who were in the room.
"All are gone. The guards at the entrance, the carriage riders and those who keep watch on this room.
All of their bodies were found in the basement when I was checking the whole building. I even checked that the man who had brought the girls and were coming with the girls in the carriage were killed.
I think it is a planned attack and started from the carriage only. I am afraid that our lives are.."
"Shut up! I said shut up! Are you worried about your lives? Do you know if i did not introduce them to girls, my business would suffer a huge blow. The nobles would not let this incident go and take strict action against me.
What does your life cost in front of my loss? Huh?" he shouted silencing both men who felt insulted but it was nothing new for them.
"I am telling you, I am not going back on stage until you find those girls or I will make sure that your guild will perish with me too." he shouted again when the guards lowered their heads further.
"But sire, we have already checked the whole place twice. There is no one." he replied slowly. No matter how they looked, there was no one and they could not produce a bunch of girls out of thin air.
No matter how many times did this man shout, there was nothing they could do.
"If not, then what use would I have of yours? I will free you from your misery too if my problem can not be solved." came the voice through the gritted teeth when the sound of footsteps could be heard and the door was opened.
"We have the same solution for you too." and before the man could turn and see who had disturbed him, a dagger came flying and hit his back making him fall on the ground.
"Both of you, do you want to die or come with us?" The voice was cold and curt that left them trembling but they nodded their heads.
Their boss was awful and they were glad that he died. They did not feel any remorse in speaking against him and spilling his secrets.
"Good, then come with us." Ethan chained both of their hands for precaution and walked out of the room.
"Flare them. Give them so much that they burn the palace but make sure that the dancers would be taken out unscathed." Ethan nodded and passed the rope holding both guards to Alex who left the place while scanning the way out.
"Do you have any idea about any precious thing or person kept here?" he asked the guards as he took slow steps towards the exit.
Surprisingly there was no one in their way.
"No! Everyone is killed and all the precious things were taken away by them. There were 14 girls in the carriage and two girls in the basement. But now there were only dead bodies.
The room of the boss had a good amount earned from the whole month transaction but everything was gone too.'' Alex frowned as he felt there was something amiss.
If the killer had taken all the girls and precious items from the building then why was he not caught and if he was strong enough to handle all of them then why did he leave a single girl in the room.
Why did he not save her or kidnap her again and why have they not found anyone coming or leaving from here. They must have seen the killer if he had left the room but..
"Holy jesus!" He ran towards the door dragging both men with them whose eyes widened. His pace was too fast for them to catch up and their chained hands were making it difficult for them to follow him. They ran, trotted and hopped to match his steps but Alex continued to run all the way.
Soon the sound of shouting and throwing things entered their ears and then ran faster to save themselves.
Alex sat on the horse and pulled the reins when their eyes widened.
"Are we not getting a horse? How will we…" The rest of their words died in the sound of winds that were cutting through their lungs when they had to meet the speed of the running horse.
It felt like Alex had turned crazy suddenly, behaving so strangely. He rode the horse faster until he found the nearest inn.
The men had already given up on running and now letting the horse drag them. Their body was full of injuries and blood when the carriage stripped.
They took a breath of relief but fainted as soon as they were able to breathe again.
Alex found Tavern standing on the door but it only made his eyes colder and narrower when he saw that he was alone.
"Where is the girl?" he asked, cutting the chase. Though bewildered, the man replied honestly,
"She was not feeling well, so she asked for the room. Why did something happen?" he said in a bewildered look when Alex ran a hand in his hair and closed his eyes with a deep sigh.
"That shrewd girl had run away again!"
