Overall this book seems pretty good. I've only read up to Chapter 15 so far, but it's got a good MC. He's transmigrated, but that's barely mentioned and doesn't matter much, into an evil sect where he gains years of life from the leather he works with. Then he uses those years in a text based life simulation to gain skills and abilities. It's pretty straight forward. The MC is very level headed and is not evil or good so far. The one downside is the translation especially in the first few chapters is very unreliable. It's a little confusing trying to picture what is happening based on the word choices used. Skin-making is in the title but it's later called a tannery which makes sense, but the story also lists tannery as an optional place that he didn't go to. "Profound robes" is used but it probably just means robes that are black. If you can make your own head cannon of what's happening or just ignore some descriptions you'll probably like the actual story.

The opening is good and sensible but it eventually falls into the classic safe mc trap where the only reason the mc is interesting is being forced into situations that ultimately benefit him beyond reason. Without being pushed out and choking on all the benefits the author shoves in his path he wouldn’t really do anything. The system just breeds an overly cautious/boring mc and rewards doing the same thing over and over again. I like an op mc but I want some kind of balance/trade off. Otherwise it doesn’t feel like they earned it. They come off more like the spoiled second generation npcs that you see in classic novels and can’t wait to get slapped. When I start rooting for the mc to get slapped I find that to be a pretty bad sign for the book.

Really good, Mc is great, World building is great, Certain aspects of the power system are pretty unique, and the most insane part is -characters have actual personalities, you can actually tell them apart and each of them has left a unique impression in mind, overall one of the best Chinese novels I have ever read

I really enjoyed this one. The main character isn’t over-the-top evil, which makes them easier to connect with. The world and system are interesting without being too complicated, and most of the characters feel surprisingly real. Overall, it was a good read and I’d definitely recommend it.

Great story. The demon sect is evil and demonic, and the righteous sects are generally good but not too much. MC is not evil but has to become it to survive and to prevent entrapments and betrayals. The golden finger allows him to capture and spend lifetime to accelerate cultivation and comprehension. There's good character development, interesting cultivation system, lots of action and a well written plot.

The core concept is very unique for a cultivation novel. The "System" is very unique!

dang the title got me, lol I usually don't grab books by it's title but I opened the app and say the title and I was like "hmm" then I realized it was about the puppet sect which honestly I have not seen a single mc that focuses on the puppet sect ever, so it got me, I hope it gets 5000 chapters.

Interesting take on the simulation genre. The MC can extract the remaining life energy from monster materials in order to increase his lifespan. He can later use this lifespan to simulate advancements to a specific ability and retain the possible benefits. With this cheat the MC will navigate the martial world filled with dangers from monsters, ghosts and humans alike. I enjoyed the read. Nothing displeasing comes to mind.

I would like to recommend this novel to those martial arts / xinxia loving faithful readers, who are bored of story line of traditional novels as these novel's stories have become repetitive and predictable. But, this novel presents a different entertaining vibe, which keeps us engrossed in reading as we progress to read the novel further.

Everything is good in this novel except the fact that the mc is timid and always afraid....even when the stone skin master knows his level of skills in skin painting,he tries to perform even far lower than that which doesn't make sense(even when they are alone). The novel concept and power system are very well designed along with his(mc) sect core fighting techniques i.e.shadow puppets but the mc even after reaching the ninth layer is not using it I don't know why . I feel like the novel has potential but the mc character while sensible(in some cases ) is not upto satisfaction. P.S. And please the idea of hiding your cultivation level is so overused now that people have stopped reading them all together,it is just repetitive now causing all immersion to lose air
