Chapter 1: Prolouge
Curse of the oak tree. One that could be deeply understood by the one whom it falls upon.
A curse of darkness. Can it be resisted. Or broken...
People were tied by the hand kneeling hopelessly on the floor. Pleading to be spared. Men in armor behind them slicing their flesh with swords. Some being struck with arrows coming from different directions. Others were hanged. Kids because slaves. His majesty standing with no bit of pity.
Queen Yoo bowing at his feet pleading for some to be spared. This was the setting of Gusum royal quarters. In few minutes there were no souls left except that from the kings side.
Queen Yoo. My mother. Decread to be hanged but was spared and sent on exile.
The entire household of the army commander was wiped out. For they had greatly wronged His majesty King Gilbert. The army commander having a secret relationship with one of the kings wives.
Bearing a child with the woman and blindly disgusting the girl to be the kings.
Deceiving the king for more than 7 years.
How bad king Gilbert must have felt when he found out that his most precious and last of all children born to him wasn't really his.
And so out of his raging anger.
None of the armys commanders family were spared.
As for the girl. Raelyn. She shall be sent to marry the Duke of kitan. Alonso. At that young age.
The king saw it as an opportunity to strengthen alliance with the kitanians.
Although she was given as a wife to the Duke. To princess Raelyn she was. Mearly
a hostage. She was never to set foot in Gusum again. Neither could she set eyes on her mother.
