Chapter 4: How Hard Could It Be!?

After the brief discussion by the princes in Liam's quarter, they all headed to the throne room.

Just as they were about entering the throne room, they heard a panting voice coming from behind them.

"Hey, wait for you queen." They turned to see Sati running very fast.

"You know as a Royal, you ought to walk majestically and not run round in your dress." Xavier scolded Sati, but she completely ignored him.

"I can't believe you forgot your queen."

Sati turned to Liam with her lips pouted while shining her bright eyes almost crying.

"Of course not. I would never." Liam tried coaxing her, but she was not having any of it.

"You would never but yet you were about going in without me. You didn't even come to look for me in my room. I had gone to your chamber and the guard on duty told me you all had already left for the throne room, and I had to run to catch up with you." Sati was at the verge of crying.

"I'm really sorry, that was wrong of me. There's no need to cry. I promise to make it up to you." Liam squatted down to her level, trying to plead with her to stop her from crying.

"Promise?"

"Promise." Liam said as he gave her his word.

The once sad Sati was all smiles. "In that case, shall we?" She said as she held Liam's hands softly.

The guard at the door announced their presence and they all walked in majestically with their shoulders held high as expected of a Royal.

The prime ministers were all taken aback mainly cause the younger royal children who were not the heir had no right to be in their meeting.

Maybe Xavier and probably Zerys and Kyle, but definitely not the younger ones. They were even more shocked to see the princess as well.

Other than the Queen, no other female had been present in their meetings. As a matter of fact, the board members all consisted of male and not a single female.

They had expected to meet with the Queen, instead they were greeted by the presence of the royal children.

"Greetings, Your Highness." Alonzo, the head of the board greeted Liam still shocked to see his other siblings present.

Liam had always attended the board meeting since he was eight years old to prepare him for the position of the king.

"You seemed disturbed grand chancellor Alonzo. As a matter of fact, you all look like you've seen a ghost. Please do tell me what the problem is." Liam asked, acting unaware of the reason the prime ministers and generals were all shocked even though he was fully aware of the reason.

"Pardon me, Your Highness for being outspoken. Just that we were hoping to meet with the Queen but yet she's not here, instead we are greeted with the presence of your younger siblings who by right are not supposed to be present." Alonzo said with his head hung low as if scared of the reaction of their future king.

Instead of screaming out in anger as expected by the generals and prime minister, Liam replied him calmly.

"First of all, Her Majesty is ill and would be taking the day off to rest in her chambers, which means I'll be the acting ruler for the day."

He accessed the expression of the board members before he continued.

"Secondly. I completely understand what you mean, but I can't rule without my siblings by my side. Even when I will become the king, I'll still have them by my side." He said, sounding a bit authoritative, not giving the board members any chance to oppose his decision.

"Our deep condolence to the Queen..." Liam didn't allow the general of the Kingdom's army to finish his statement as he said in a calm yet commanding tone.

"I said the Queen was ill not dead. Be mindful of the words you use when addressing her Majesty."

He stared hard at the general as if telepathically telling him. 'You'll be executed the next time you say something out of line.'

"I'm sorry, Your Highness. That was inappropriate of me to have said." General Leon bowed his head low.

When he saw Liam's expression becoming less tensed, he continued with what he was initially saying.

"What I was about saying earlier was that, even if we decide to allow the princes stay, we definitely can't allow the princess."

"And why not?" Liam questioned with a raised brow.

"Cause she's a female, Your Highness." Leon said with his head still hung low avoiding Liam's gaze.

Liam might be friendly at times, but no one dares to get on his bad side.

"So what if she's a female? Is the Queen not also a female, huh?" Liam was getting angry.

No one dares talk about his little sister in his presence like she meant nothing.

"What General Leon meant to say was that, only the Queen Daria had the right to be present in the board meeting." Alonzo noticed Liam's anger and tried to reason out with him.

"For today, princess Satia stands to be the Queen of Amstrid, and that's final." Liam's voice echoed in the large throne room making those present to shudder in their seats including the princes apart from Xavier who was unaffected by Liam's cold tone cause he has spent time with Liam to understand how harsh he could be.

The other princes had never seen the authoritative side of their brother. He was always calm with them, so they were shocked to see this side of him.

The board members had no other choice but to do as their acting king had ordered and permit both the young princes and Satia as well to stay behind.

"Pardon me, Your Highness, but you've not been around for some time now, are you sure you could handle ruling the kingdom? What I'm saying is that you might still need a little more practice." One of the prime ministers pointed out.

Liam scoffed. "I've been training for this position all my life so why do I need more practice simply because I've been away for sometime. Besides it's just for the day. How hard could it be." Liam said smiling brightly which made him to look really attractive.

The prime ministers and generals were at a loss for words.

While some were worried about Liam being incapable, the rest were eager to see what Liam was capable of and were looking forward to how he would rule. They had trained him since he was young, so they were expectant of what he could do as king.
