Chapter 1: Drenched

Lyra's hand shivered when she felt a cold hand passing alongside her waistline and up her stomach.

"Lyra did you sleep well?" a guy asked in a cold tone making the girl's entire body tremble in fear and when she turned around her eyes widened as she stared at his face for he was the one person she least expected bed she would wake up in.

"No, this is not right, you... you ignored me and yet... this must be some sick dream," she said to herself as she closed her eyes thinking she was dreaming and the guy passed his cold hand on her face bringing her closer to him then kissed her and Lyra pushed him away then got off of the bed wrapped in a white sheet.

That night Lyra was slightly traumatized for she slept with someone not only older than her but was also someone she dearly cared for but was shoved aside so many times that she thought she had no other chance at a good relationship with him.

"Your life is in my hands, you may not realize it yet, but you will always come back to me, I am the only one you want to be with, you cannot sleep with any other man, you hate admitting it because it makes you feel ridiculous even thinking about it," he said coldly to princess Lyra as he leaned in closer and her entire body shivered.

Every girl dreams of having their true love one day in their life but sometimes they come in so many unexpected ways that it would leave you shocked, something similar happened to princess Lyra who was the stepdaughter of the king and queen of Aqaerrania, one of the most powerful among the eight kingdoms that was filled with wonder and magical beings despite being in the modern ages.

Before the incident happened with the guy everything went well for the princess, who embraced her new family despite the fact that she was not the king and queen's biological child due to which she faced a lot of problems that they were unaware of.

Princess Lyra enjoyed drawing and wanted to live an adventurous life to make up for the missing part of herself; she felt as if a black hole was in the center of her soul, but she tried her hardest to live life to the fullest.

The princess had no idea that her life was about to take a wild turn and everything was about to change, that her reality as she knew it would no longer be the same, and thus the princess's story began.

As the princess stood by the ocean's shore, her feet were washed by the waves, the water was calm, as was the wind.

"This feels so good," she thought as her long silver hair blew up with the wind and the water ran down her smooth, glossy white skin and curvaceous body, her eyes sparkled bright blue and green as the sunlight reflected in them, and her rosy pink lips formed a wonderful smile.

"Your highness," someone said as she turned around and saw a young lady approaching her.

'What exactly is it, Jane?" she inquired.

"Your highness, it's time you return to the castle, the last thing I want right now is to be yelled at, your sibling has already asked me ten thousand times where you are," she responded, laughing.

"I don't want to worry anyone so I'll come back with you, let's go,' she says "She said this as the girl handed her a robe and she boarded the carriage back to the castle.

When they returned to the castle, the princess came out of the carriage with the maid.

"What were you doing? where were you? " A girl inquired, and she lowered her head.

"I was at the beach," she replied, and the girl scoffed. "Go inside and put on something that is not wet and exposes you," she advised.

"Lyra, sorry I don't mean to be rude, but we will be having dinner soon," the girl said, and Lyra smiled since the girl was none other than her step-sister, who was just having a bad day.

"Sure, Mika," she replied before walking in with the maid.

"Your highness, relax, I'll go get your clothes, I'm leaving to go with my family, I hope to see you again soon, these past few years with you have been great," the maid said as they entered a royal suite that was actually the princess's room.

"You are right, it has been fun, I will keep in touch with you. You be careful out there. Click a few pictures and send them when you get to your destination as well, Jane," she replied, smiling brightly.

"Oh, your highness, your laptop needed to be changed, so I did that already; how difficult is it to run a modern kingdom in a modern world?" she asked as Lyra's clothes were placed on the bed, and the princess went to change.

'It's pretty difficult, technology is improving all the time, fancy cars and supernatural beasts, it can be difficult to keep track of everything, but we do it anyway," she replied, and Jane sighed.

"It must be difficult for your parents, huh?" Jane inquired as the girl emerged from the walk-in closet wearing a simple blue dress.

"Yeah, it is, but there are others who can help, so no need to worry," Lyra said.

"You are correct; I just want to know, your highness, are you going to be okay?" Jane asked and Lyra patted her on the head.

"I'll be fine Jane, don't worry about me so much, go enjoy your life; after all, I'll be graduating from the academy soon enough and I might even go look for a job or join one of the squads, I think, I am not sure, but seriously, I will be fine. Relax," she replied, and the maid sighed with relief.

"That's great to hear, you seem fine, I know this isn't your family, you know you... Yet you handle it so well, you are the strongest among the group regardless of who says what, I will always admire you, it will be night in a few minutes, "Jane stated.

"Yes, you are correct; I should join the others for dinner, when are you leaving?" Lyra questioned.

"First thing in the morning," she responded.

"See me before you leave, I have a gift for you," Lyra said as they exited the room and made their way down to the dining hall.

"Good night, guys," she said as she entered the hall and sat at the table.

"You look so down today, are you alright Lyra?" a guy asked cheerfully as he walked in, and she sighed.

"I'm fine, Arion," she said as he sat beside her and peered at her, causing her to pull back with a smile and he scoffed.

"What is it?" she assessed as he passed her a bar of chocolate, which she accepted.

"I appreciate it," she said.

'You're welcome; I got some news today that I won't share with you just yet; focus on your final term then graduating, you will see what it is for yourself, I assure you, you guys will smile brightly okay," he said.

"Okay, I will," she replied as she lowered her gaze and sighed.
