Chapter 1: Chapter 01 - Luffy Arriving in Orario

This fanfic is just for fun; there won't be regular updates. It's just something to laugh at when I have time for it.

[Chapter Size: 2200 Words.]

Perspective of the Ganesha Family Guard.

South Gate, Orario.

...

...

The city of Orario, known as the center of the world, entrusts the Ganesha Family with the responsibility of ensuring security in collaboration with the adventurer's guild. Together, we have the crucial mission of preserving order in this vibrant metropolis.

My name is Lian Mcturim, a level 2 adventurer for over five years, and today, I'm on duty at the South Gate. The scene is routine: traders negotiating, ordinary citizens seeking jobs, and young aspiring adventurers looking for power, wealth, glory, and romance. When I arrived in Orario, I shared these dreams, but I realized that reality was less indulgent for most.

Orario houses around 100,000 adventurers, as I estimate, but how many of them truly achieve fame? Only about 1%, and all of them boast levels higher than 4 or belong to notable families. Eventually, I chose to become a guard. I can't complain; the salary is generous, allowing me to live comfortably, thanks to the benevolent god Ganesha.

I was attentive to a trader and his purpose in visiting Orario. It's part of our duty as city guards to conduct these inquiries, given the numerous forces out there eager to take control of Orario. It's not an easy task, considering we harbor the most formidable individuals in the world, and our mission is to prevent headaches for the Gods and the guild.

After my brief dialogue with the trader, my eyes turned to a young man, if I can call him that. He showed visible signs of exhaustion, with his tongue hanging out and his spine so curved it seemed about to collapse, creating an almost caricatured and surreal scene.

Visibly hungry and thirsty, his modest attire made him look more like a character from a beggar's tale than an adventurer. He wore a straw hat, typical of an unassuming farmer, and his clothes— a red tank top, blue shorts, and sandals—only accentuated his pitiful state. However, completely contrasting the appearance of an unfortunate wanderer, he carried on his back a notably large spear, a sight that intrigued onlookers, who watched him with curious glances, keeping a certain distance.

When it was finally his turn, he crawled to us with his mouth open and lifeless eyes, providing a disconcerting scene. We even felt a twinge of compassion for this seemingly 18-year-old youth, whose presence exuded a unique mix of desperation and oddity.

"P-Please, tell me your name and the reason for being in Orario," I asked, maintaining calm in the surreal situation.

He stared at me for a moment before opening and closing his mouth.

"Wa...ter..." He said softly.

"What?" I asked, not understanding, wondering if he might be a foreigner with an unknown language.

"Wa...terrrr," he said, showing his dry tongue and pointing his finger to it.

"I think he needs water... Mr. Lian," a guild staff member said, visibly lost and bewildered in the situation.

"Bring me a bottle for this person, please!" I requested, and someone quickly brought the bottle. I took it and turned to the young man.

When I raised my hand to hand over the bottle, at a speed beyond my reaction, it disappeared. Looking up quickly, I realized the boy was taking the bottle as if it were the most pleasurable thing in the world for him.

COUGH

COUGH

COUGH

COUGH

AHHHHHHHHH

The boy in front of me became increasingly bizarre in my mind. He drank 2 liters of water as if it were nothing, and his skin and expression, which previously indicated dryness and malnutrition, suddenly became as healthy as that of a high-level adventurer. The transformation was so rapid that my mind could barely process what I had just witnessed.

"Shishishishi, thought I was gonna die of thirst!" He said cheerfully while laughing, completely different from his previous expression. It was as if we were seeing another person now.

"Are you okay?" I asked cautiously, never having witnessed something so bizarre in a decade here in Orario or in my entire life of over 35 years.

"My bad, my bad. I was dying of thirst; I ended up getting lost in the desert and ran out of money or water that grandma gave me. I only managed to find the city because the tower is really big, by the way, it's AMAZING!!!" His eyes turned into two bright stars as he looked at the tower when pronouncing the last word.

We all were left speechless. I wasn't the only one finding this individual very strange; even in the gate queue, people were at a loss for words in the face of everything that had happened so far.

"Well..." I tried to regain my guard composure. "I'm glad you're okay, but tell me your name and why you're here in Orario..." I returned to the first question I asked him.

"Ahhhhh! That... Shishishishishishi." He laughed while taking off his hat to scratch his head.

"I'm Monkey D. Luffy! I'm here to become an adventurer!" He said excitedly.

"Well, that's understandable..." I said awkwardly, but looking at this boy, as bizarre as he appeared, he reminded me of my first arrival in Orario, full of enthusiasm to make a name for myself 10 years ago.

"Tell me, Luffy, why be an adventurer?" I asked, knowing he'd probably say the most common things everyone desires: power, wealth, fame, glory, and women!

"Hmmmmm...." He made a thoughtful expression, as if his determinations were truly profound, taking time to reflect.

Then, as if he had remembered something, he made a realization face and looked at me.

"To eat meat!!" He said cheerfully.

This knocked me to the ground, along with all my colleagues. No one expected that. "Who the hell is this kid with such an empty head?" Everyone internally screamed.

"Wait!!! Are you saying you intend to risk your life in the dungeon for MEAT, like, MEAT, FOOD??" I practically lost my composure here now.

"OF COURSE I AM!!!" He shouted happily.

No one knew what to say after hearing something like that. Orario, as the center of the world, can gather the weirdest people in the world, but what happened today surpassed anything we've ever seen.

"Wait, young man, you really aren't seeking glory, wealth, power, fame, or women...? Think carefully about everything you can achieve here..." I insisted.

"Hmmm...." He started thinking again, but in such an exaggerated way that it seemed like his head could explode. "No! I want Meat!" He said again.

"It can't be possible, think carefully, there are more things than meat in life, just think!!!" I didn't want to see a young man die in pursuit of something as senseless as meat.

"HMMMMMMMMMMMMM" He started thinking again, but now in such a comical way that smoke literally started coming out of his head. "HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM" Everyone opened their eyes, seeing how he made an effort to think, his face turning red, hand on his chin, and smoke rising.

"HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. *Pufff*" His head suddenly exploded in smoke, and if it was bizarre before, now we had wide eyes for him. What the hell was happening?

Amidst the smoke, he looked at me with a big smile, as if his head wasn't filled with smoke.

"No, MEAT is better!" He said once again with confidence.

I think I'll need a drink as soon as my shift is over. This young man is beyond the understanding of the world and the Gods...

"Well... if that's it, I guess we can let you in..." I said defeated. I didn't see anything wrong with this boy. He's a complete airhead; it's a shame his goal here is something as common as food...

"Shishishishishishi, can I enter the city?!" He asked with anticipation right after laughing.

"You can. Since you want to be an adventurer, you can go to the tower in the city center. The guild will provide information about it." I said, not in the mood to explain what it means to be an adventurer to this scatterbrained teenager.

"THERE IT IS!!!! FINALLY!!!!" He shouted happily. Everyone had a smile for him. He was very cheerful and innocent, and it really was a beautiful sight.

*NHOOOOOOOOO*

A thunderous noise came from the young man's stomach, and his happiness turned into sadness.

*Grrrrrrrrrr*

(I couldn't find the exact sound of an empty stomach, if anyone knows, you can replace it.)

"HUNGER...." He said, making a comical face of someone suffering.

I remembered he said he got lost and came here without food and money. Feeling a bit sorry for him, I took something from my pockets and handed it to him.

"Hey, young Luffy, here." I said to him, handing a pouch of valis with 2,000 in value. That should be enough for him to stay in the city for a while until he finds a solution.

"MEAT? Hmm... What is this?" He looked at me surprised and then made a face when he realized it wasn't food.

"Well, this is money we use in the city. With it, you can buy meat and find a place to stay until you find a God," I explained, sighing as I saw that he had understood.

"Really!! Thank you, old man!! You're so kind!!" He changed his expression to someone very happy. I grimaced when he called me an old man; I'm only 35, you brat!

"You're welcome... I guess..." I said afterward, awkwardly, seeing the young man's enthusiasm again.

He took the pouch and stored it, making a big smile on his face as he walked towards the gate. At this moment, everyone was paying attention to this strange boy. He had caused quite a stir so far, and all the civilians and adventurers entering and leaving the city stopped to see this comical person.

Suddenly, he interrupted his walk under the astonished looks of everyone, putting his hat back on with a determined gesture. As we realized what he was about to do, he started a strangely theatrical act: he began to suck in the air, storing it in a peculiar way in his stomach, forming a small ball in his belly. The sight was so bizarre that all of us were dumbfounded, witnessing something that defied all conventional logic. Then, he raised his arms and let out a scream that seemed to be a mix of excitement and challenge.

"ORARIO!!!!! I'M COMING, AND I WILL BECOME THE GREATEST ADVENTURER!!!"

If the scenes were already strange before, his voice echoing throughout the city was even more surreal. Everyone nearby covered their ears when he started shouting; I myself was stunned because no one should be able to do something like that physically!

"Hmmm, I need to eat. Maybe in that tower, there could be meat!" He said to himself, as if the previous act was entirely natural.

I was about to ask what the hell he was when the young man added another touch of strangeness to his performance. His arms stretched up to the gate wall, defying gravity before the incredulous eyes of everyone.

"WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!"

"HE'S NOT HUMAN?"

Voices echoed in this tone of bewilderment in the frightened crowd. And before anyone could articulate a response, he took off upward with the strength of his arms, as if he were casting a spell that defied all known laws!

*SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII* He flew with a cutting sound into the sky of Orario.

Everyone, without exception, opened their mouths to see that wordless scene. What took all eyes off the astonishment was a scream that came from the space above the southern region of Orario.

"MEAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!"

**Third person POV**

Luffy soared into the sky and saw the magnificent city his grandmother had asked him to visit, where he could eat all the meat he wanted and become an adventurer. He wasted no more time and came to see the place where most gods lived. He looked at the city while flying with crossed legs, the wind hitting his hat and face.

"SUGOOOOOOOOOOOIIIIIII" He said, seeing the people below him. He saw races he had already seen in the queue, like people with strange ears and dwarves, but he also saw others with animal ears and was curious about these strange people.

"Shishishishishishishi, now I have to find a place to eat!" He said thoughtfully after laughing a bit; his stomach still growled in the air.

He sighed and began to inhale air, and his stomach began to grow.

Then he shouted, seeking what he was looking for.

"MEAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!"

Everyone in the city heard someone shouting to be the greatest adventurer. Many came out of their homes and shops to see what was happening in the south. Even the guild had employees outside the tower trying to figure out what was going on and who was the origin of the voice. Now that same voice was shouting in the southern sky of the city many kilometers from the ground. They thought that this person was crazy or something in their hearts. The most bizarre thing was that someone was shouting and flying in the sky of Orario. Everyone was surprised to think that someone could do that. Gods, adventurers, and civilians were paying attention to a single voice, a voice that no one knew anything about.

From that day on, Orario would never be the same again!
