Chapter 5: Orario
The journey was relatively boring as the distance to Orario is only two days away.
In the late afternoon of the second day, he could see the tower and later the city.
It looks like a wheel lying down and the broken axle up to the sky.
The main streets in the 4 directions could even be seen from here.
He needs a place to stay, but an inn is to expensive for a long stay. So he needs to go to the guild.
After climbing down from the wagon, he asked a guard after the inspection where he could find the adventurer guild. Following the information he stood at the steps of a nice but simple-looking building.
Going inside he goes to a counter.
"Hello, how may I help you?", a redhead with foxears asks me.
"My name in Alex and I want to register as an adventurer. If you have some information on cheap housing or whereI could get those, it would be helpful."
"Do you have received a Falna? Without one you can't register."
"Yeah, do I need to show it here?", I ask her as I don't think every adventurer likes to strip in front of the whole crowd.
"If that is so, please follow me to another room where I will verify it and search for your required information."
"That would be appreciated, thanks Miss...?", I say while letting the end open.
"You can call me Rose, Mr. Alex"
I thereafter follow her to an office. I take off my shirt and show her my back.
"I don't recognise this symbol. What familia are you from?"
"Is that information also required for registration?", I reply as calm as I can, while getting a little nervous.
Also I have a guess as who the god could be, I can't be sure.
"Sorry, I will get the information and ask a superior. You can put your shirt back on. I'll be right back."
While she is away, I think about the god who bestowed me his falna.
Greek god, who had something to do with light. Many would guess Apollo, god of the sun, but because of the abilities of my Blessing, which didn't entail archery, I could rule him out.
In greek mythology there is a primordial god as old as chaos.
His name is .. "Sorry for the wait. My superior said to register you, but would like to copy the symbol for paperwork, if it's alright with you.", Rose interrupts my thoughts.
As I guess my god I related to Ouranos, who resides over the guild, I don't have a problem with it as long as it wouldn't become public knowledge as he isn't the only god in the city, who would know which entity is behind it.
"As for the information you asked for, I categorised it in three parts. Inns, housing prices and rental accommodations."
"I don't think I have enough money to buy a house, so could you tell me about the other two."
"I thought that you come from outside, so you might not know there are some cheap ruins in the west district and some cheap ones in Daedalus street, but I wouldn't recommend those as the crime rate is the highest in the city there."
I know the Hestia famila lives or will live in the west district, but don't know if I want to get involved with her.
"Okay, then please lay it out for me."
"Of course. Inns are cheaper the longer the distance to the center. The prices range from 100 valis a night to a 1000 around the tower. Ruins in the west district are related to the size of the land and how good the condition of the building is. But even then, they cost around a million .
Rentals are paid per month and compared cheaper than inns, but you still need around 20000 to 30000 valis per month for the normal ones. Big apartments cost a lot more."
Houses are outside my pricerange for now, but I plan to buy one in the future as I can't join another familia.
I'm even short for rental, but maybe could only deposit a part and pay the rest after I eadned more this month.
"I would like a rental place, but can only pay 500 valis up front and the rest after the month. Are there any places with such conditions?"
"Not many.", she sighs. "I know one place and can ask another, but they may ask for a few hours of labor as they are restaurants who have rooms for employees."
"As long as it doesn't interrupt my own work, I can work a few hours in the evening, but I tell you upfront, I don't have experience in this business.", I say honestly. I mean I only hunted. In the last life relics and this life prey.
"That shouldn't be an issue. You are most likely working as dishwasher. Hostess of Fertility would let you stay or I can ask a little restaurant of an old couple I know. What would you prefer?"
Getting to know a lot of beauties or an old couple. Normally a easy answer, but do I want to be on Freyas radar so early? I must risk it as my favourite character also works there!
"I would like to work at the Hostess of Fertility."
I won't risk my life, but I know how short it is and will enjoy it to its fullest.
