Chapter 4: A True Love

After the end of the class, Shirley immediately walked into Mrs. Harrington's Cabin. Mrs. Harrington might be strict in the class, but during non class period, she always maintained her smile. This is because she always wanted to maintain her professionalism.

So as she saw Shirley entering her cabin, Mrs. Harrington smiled and asked, "What brings you here, Shirley?"

"I think you already know why I am here Professor!" ,Shirley sighed and said.

"Are you angry with your partner?" ,Mrs. Harrington asked.

"No, I am not angry. It's just that, I am rather confused." ,Shirley shook her head and said, "You know that he lives in my home as a paying guest. I told him this morning repeatedly to bring his record to the class as today was the due date for submission. He told me that he already placed the record in his bag last night. But since he is a "Fool", I personally checked his bag and found his record in his bag. There is no way his reason was believable for me. I feel that something is wrong."

"I know what exactly happened." ,Mrs. Harrington sighed and said. She took out two particular record books from all the submitted records and gave them to Shirley and said, "Take a look at all the content within the first book."

Shirley flipped the pages. She nodded her head and said, "This is my record book. This is my handwriting."

"You are right." ,Mrs. Harrington replied and continued, "Now take a look at the second record book."

Shirley didn't understand what was going on. But she did exactly as the Professor asked her to do. She flipped the pages of the second record books and observed the content with a little attention. And of course, she was shocked. She said in astonishment, "This handwriting... How could I not know? This handwriting belongs to The Fool"! He submitted his record book? Then why is he lying?"

"Things are not as simple as you think they are." ,Mrs. Harrington shook her head and said, "It is true that, that is definitely the Fool's handwriting. How could I not recognize such a terrible handwriting? But for the record, just take a look at the name of the owner of the book."

Shirley immediately opened the first page and was astonished. Even though the handwriting belongs to Kamanth, there was her name on the record book!

"What?" ,Shirley almost shouted loudly in shock.

"Now take a look at the name on the Record book with your handwriting." ,Mrs. Harrington calmly asked.

Shirley didn't gave it a second thought. She immediately opened the second book which was filled with her handwriting and took a glance at the owner of the book. She was astonished again as she clearly read the word "Kurt" at the opening page.

"This... How is this possible?" ,Shirley asked in terror, "Could it be..?"

"At the beginning I was shocked as well. As my favorite student, I naturally opened your book for evaluation and was shocked to see Fool's handwriting on it. Then I felt something was wrong and started to open every other book. Your Handwriting is something very pleasant for the eyes as it was one of your remarkable talent. So I immediately found a book with the resemblance to your handwriting. I opened Kurt's previous submitted old book and found that both the handwritings were completely different. It didn't take me long to figure out what happened." ,Mrs. Harrington shook her head and said, "Your partner sacrificed everything to protect your reputation. If my guess is right, he is in love with you!"

Shirley remained silent. She was on the verge on crying as Mrs. Harrington could see the tears at the corner of her eyes.

Mrs. Harrington said, "I am not a psychiatrist. But in my life, I have accumulated enough experience to judge a person. And Fool is even easier to read. Today, his sacrifice made me realize just how much he cares about you. I understood one thing though. He truly loves you. But because of his fallen self confidence and his lack of confidence and the lack of good looking face and physique, he never proposed you. He is afraid of rejection from you. I am giving you an advice as a mother. He might be clumsy. But he is an honest person. He didn't hesitate to sacrifice his career for your bright future. I know that marriage is a serious issue. So all I can advice you in the stead of your mother to not lose him. Honest people like him are scarce nowadays."

Shirley didn't respond. Tears were falling down through her cheeks which came from her eyes non stop. She couldn't control her emotions.

Mrs. Harrington rubbed Shirley's eyes and hugged her. She said, "Silly girl! Don't worry! I will fix the issue regarding the records. Just go and handle the situation with Fool. Make sure that you are not angry with him. His self confidence has always been at the rock bottom. So he needs you at this critical moment."

"Thank You, Professor!" ,Shirley rubbed her tears and said, "I think I know what I should do now."

"Go." ,Mrs. Harrington smiled and said.

Shirley nodded her head and hurriedly left Mrs. Harrington's cabin. As she left, she found both Umang and Kurt standing at the entrance of the cabin. It was obvious that they both were eavesdropping on the conversation between Mrs. Harrington and Shirley. As the partners in crime, they were obviously trying to stay out of any possible danger.

But before they could leave as they sensed that Shirley was about to leave the cabin, they never realized that Shirley would be this quick to come out of the cabin. They didn't have the time to hide as they were caught redhandedly by Shirley.

Shirley looked at both of them and anger swelled up in her heart. Looking at the extreme anger on the face of his crush, Umang wanted to cry. He knew that he screwed up big time. The situation has now gone completely out of his hand. It was now gone beyond repair. The relationship between both of them will never recover.

"Shirley...I" ,Umang wanted to say something and wanted to convince her. But alas, no words came out from his mouth. Cold sweat was drenching on his forehead. He knew that he was finished.

"Just you wait. I will definitely settle scores with both of you. But I know what is important right now." ,Shirley said coldly and left. Since Mrs. Harrington promised that she will fix the issue, Shirley knew which situation is more important to handle.

She always knew that Kamanth loved him. But if he would have proposed her, then she would have politely rejected him and would have said that their relationship is limited to just friendship.

But now she knew that her thought process was complete naive. She never imagined that Kamanth would love her to the point of not hesitating to place his career on the line to save her image.

She knew what she should do now.
