Chapter 3: The Estranged Saiyan 3

"Can you understand what I'm saying?" Kal asked as he sat in front of Kakumei. The Saiyan stared back at the Kryptonian and gave him a subtle nod. "Can you speak English?"

Kakumei shook his head, letting the Kryptonian know that he could understand him but not speak it back to him. Kal nodded his head, but smiled a little before letting out a sigh of relief. "Well, it's a start at least." Kal commented, then heard someone clearing their throat behind him.

The Kryptonian turned to find Wonder Woman standing behind him with a small smile on her face. "I hear that our new friend can understand us now." Wonder Woman commented.

"Understand, yes", Kal confirmed, "Speak, no. That'll take a little longer, so until then I'm pretty much the only person he can speak to."

"Well if that is the case, would you mind if we spared?" The Amazon questioned, then found the Kryptonian frowning at her.

"Diana, is now really a good time?" Kal returned her question with one of his own.

"I wasn't referring to you Kal." Diana replied, then centered her attention on the resident Saiyan who stared at her now. The two seemed to he sizing each other up, as if watching what the other would do. It wouldn't be long before Kakumei slowly rose from his seat, then narrowed his eyes on Diana. Not long after, she gestured for the Saiyan to follow her. Slowly but surely Kakumei did, watching her intently as his tail began to sway behind him. Kal watched this with a nervous look, not exactly sure if he was going to like what he was about to witness. He still remembered what happened when Kakumei had fought him. Despite being weakened by the red sun, he was under the impression that the Saiyan would have killed him had he not convinced him to try another path in life.

The Kryptonian could still remember how Kakumei's eyes were, right now they weren't those blood red irises that he was sort of use to seeing. It was like an intimidation tactic for Kakumei, blood red eyes that pierced into your soul.

{Warworld, 3 Months Ago}

Kal watched from his cell's window, seeing the Arena from where he was. His powers were slowly leaving him, but he could still use his x-ray vision to see Kakumei beginning to fight a monster of a Warzoon. The goliath of a Warzoon towered over the Saiyan, standing at 8"2. A cold and deathly glare locked onto Kakumei as they stood at least 20 feet apart. The crowd were cheering, shouting for blood and murder. The Arena grounds were littered with old and broken weapons, even a few body parts that were fresh or rotting away. They were speaking in an unknown dialect, though he was sure that it was their native tongue of Warzoon.

<Warworld!>, Came the boasting tone of Mongul, <Have I a treat for you today! My son, Mungol, wishes to challenge Warworld's champion! He wishes to prove that he is superior to our undefeated warrior! Will he be able to defend against the savagery of Kakumei? Will Mungol be able to last against the Demon Monkey!? Well...let us see who will emerge as the victor! Warriors are you ready?!>

<I am ready father!> Mungol shouted, raising a chest sized fist upwards as he kept his eyes on Kakumei.

Kakumei said nothing, he simply nodded his head as he gave Mungol a predatory glare. The Saiyan's tail wrapping protectively around his waist as his body tensed up. Mongul smirked, then raised a knife hand up. <Then let the battle...begin!> Mongul announced, then lower his hand to signal the two fighters to start.

<You have fought with barbarism as your ally, you've-> Mungol never did get finished with his pre fight speech. Kakumei had bolted at him in a burst of speed and cracked his fist against the Warzoon's jaw. The Saiyan had sent the larger son of Mongul flying to the other side of the Arena. Before Mungol could get his barings, Kakumei attacked once more, sending a rib shattering knee into the Warzoon's abdomen. A crack was heard, then a cry of pain. Mungol sent a fist into Kakumei's face, watching as the Saiyan took the blow with ease. Kakumei didn't utter any discomfort from being hit, he merely popped his neck then returned with a roundhouse kick that pushed Mungol into the Arena's wall. The larger Warzoon's back cracked against the wall, causing it to nearly cave in from the impact. Kakumei wasn't through unfortunately, for he grabbed Mungol by the sides of his head then hurled him towards the center of the Arena as if he weighed nothing.

Mungol groaned as he rose back up to his feet, then sent a backhanded fist to try and catch an incoming Kakumei. The Demon Monkey blocked with his forearm, then sent a punch of his own that left an imprint into the Warzoon's shoulder. Mungol growled from pain and frustration,. <You barbaric!-> A kick to his face silenced Mungol from Kakumei. The Saiyan never said a word, he didn't waste a breath or any effort in defeating the Warzoon. The Demon Monkey was in his fight or flight mode, and unfortunately for Mungol, the Saiyan was not choosing flight.

Mungol watched as Kakumei sent a punch right into his gut, punching a hole into the Warzoon. Kal averted his eyes, disgusted at the display what the Saiyan was doing. Kakumei pushed his fist further in, cutting Mungol's innards and causing him to grab the Saiyan by his head. The Warzoon immediately began trying to squeeze Kakumei's head as he had both of his chest sized hands on the Saiyan's head. He gritted his teeth as blood dripped from the corners of his mouth. That was when the Warzoon felt a burning sensation inside of him, then felt his back being blown out by an energy blast from the Saiyan. A gasp came out of the golitah, causing him to almost hunch over to the Saiyan. Kakumei removed his hand from Mungol's gut, his hand up to his bicep covered in blood and guts. Then he sent his clean arm into the Warzoon's abdomen, firing another energy blast from inside of Mungol.

That seemed to have been enough for Mungol, for he fell backwards onto the Arena ground with two holes in him. Sadly, instead of being dead he was still living. His breathing was labored and his vision blurred. All that the Warzoon saw was the Saiyan's crimson eyes glaring down at him as Kakumei moved to stand over his head. <F-father....please...> Mungol pleaded, calling out to his own father. Mungol stood near his balcony, a dark smile plastered over his face as he held up a fist. The crowd were chanting one single word, the damnation of all who faced Kakumei within this Arena, Death. The Lord of Warworld moved his fist sideways, letting out his thumb to show that he was damning his own son to death. Kakumei glanced to see what Mongul had decided, then slowly looked down to Mungol. Kal spared a look to find the Saiyan reaching down with both hands.

"Kakumei...for the love of God don't do it!" Kal cried, but his voice could not be heard by the multitude of chants that repeated the same word, Death.

The Demon Monkey pulled Mungol's head upwards, getting a good grasp on the Warzoon's skull. Then moved his thumbs back, watching as Mungol's eyes widened in horror. <M-mercy!> The Warzoon uttered in sheer terror. Then found his plea going off on deaf ears, for Kakumei shoved his thumbs into Mungol's eyes. Kal averted his eyes once more, covering his ears so that he could hear the Warzoon's cries of pain. The Saiyan ignored the Mungol's pain filled cries, the Warzoon's eyeballs having been mushed and covering Kakumei's thumbs. <Forgive me...> The Saiyan uttered, then in one swift move, snapped Mungol's head with an audible cracking noise. Kal flinched, his super-hearimg having picked up the sound of regardless of covering his ears with his hands.

The Kryptonian slowly turned to find Kakumei ripping Mungol's head off, ensuring that the Warzoon was dead. The Demon Monkey held up Mungol's head as the crowd cheered, enjoying the bloodshed on display for them. 'Dear God in Heaven...help me get out of here.' Kal thought, watching as the Saiyan's expression remained blank and devoid of any emotion. No remorse for what he has done, no regret for the life that he took.

{Present Day, Diana}

The Princess of Themyscira was wary of Kakumei, she knew a savage warrior when she saw one. The moment that Kakumei had arrived on the Watchtower, the Saiyan gave off this aura of a dormant predator ready to pounce. She didn't know how Superman had gotten Kakumei to not attack or even show hostilities towards them, but she knew that the Saiyan had certainly thought of killing them. The way that Kakumei viewed the world was different, she could see it in his eyes. He may have given off the idea that he was an introvert, but Diana could see it in his eyes. Kakumei was a savage warrior who would not hesitate to kill them if given a reason to do so. She wanted to see how the Saiyan fought, from what she understood about what happened with Metallo. Kakumei made quick work of the android, sparing no moment to allow Metallo time to recover.

Diana of course had seen the Saiyan in action, he showed talent but no skill. It was like a freeform of attacks that were selected to for his enemy. While Kakumei showed the initiative to give his opponent no time to recover, he showed no skill in fighting ability. At least any that belonged to Earth. Diana could feel the Saiyan's eyes upon her, Kakumei's eyes seemingly piercing through her. She knew that he was wary of her as well, like he could sense danger from her. The two finally reached the Training Room, the both of them moving to the center of the room. Diana turned to peer up at Kakumei, the Saiyan in the clothes that Superman had allowed him to borrow yesterday. It wouldn't be long before she gave him a small smile before speaking.

"This should be simple", she stated, "We will be sparring until the other yields, do you understand?"

Kakumei nodded subtly, then began to narrow his eyes dangerously on Diana. The Amazon felt as if the Saiyan was about to attack her, her instincts telling her to not allow him to get a hold of her. With a firm nod, she stepped back a few feet and got into a stance. Kakumei did the same, moving his arms to bend back a bit. "Right then....begin." Diana called and just as she blinked, she felt the air in front of her push back against her.

The Amazon immediately side stepped a fist that came close to smashing into her face. She had a look of surprise by Kakumei's speed, being remarkably close to Superman's despite the Kryptonian always holding back. She sent an elbow that connected to Kakumei's cheek, making him stumble over to his right. However, the Saiyan quickly spun around to send a back heel kick at the Amazon. Diana stepped back to get out of reach of Kakumei's attack, then held her bracers up when she found an energy blast headed her way. The attack was redirected at the Saiyan in an explosive shockwave that sent Kakumei skidding back. He held up his arms in an X motion, blocking as best as he could. Diana took the initiative, rushing at Kakumei and sent a straight punch at the Saiyan. Kakumei moved to block her punch, but in the last second, Diana put her body into the blow. The Saiyan's arm was pushed back, getting a grunt out of him. The Amazon then followed up with a knee heading for the Saiyan's gut. Kakumei caught her knee, then moved his free hand to grasp at her.

Diana however jumped up, then sent a kick right into the Saiyan's head. Kakumei winced and stumbled back, releasing his hold on Diana's knee. The Amazon expanded on her advantage, sending another fist towards the Saiyan. However this time, a shockwave hit her like a sudden gust of wind. She hadn't a clue as to what had happened, but once that Kakumei was responsible for it. The shockwave pushed the Amazon back, just as Kakumei began to let out a low cry of effort. She hadn't a clue as to what was happening, but she could feel heat radiating off of Kakumei. A white transparent aura surrounding him, coating him like a flame. The Saiyan's eyes had turned scarlet red, as if his entire attitude had changed. Diana got into a defensive stance, preparing herself. She didn't like how the heat and aura was erupting from the Saiyan. Her suspicions would he proven correct, for the Saiyan bolted at her with incredible speed.

Kakumei closed the distance between them, sending a fist at her. Diana had no time to dodge, so she blocked and felt how much force that the Saiyan put behind it. She gritted her teeth, feeling herself being pushed back. Kakumei sent a kick at her, but Diana caught his leg then hurled him into the air. She watched as the Saiyan spiraled wildly before catching him, he floated in the air for but a moment. Then dived back down at Diana with a dropkick. Diana jumped back, watching as his shoes stomped down and crumble up from him colliding with the floor. Kakumei however did not stay where he was, he was already coming at Diana, sending a haymaker right into her jaw. The Amazon soon realized that the Saiyan was not holding back, he was actually attack as if she were his enemy. Knowing this, she had to return the favor, otherwise he would kill her.

Taking a more serious stance, then throwing a more devastating fist into the Saiyan's gut. Kakumei felt said punch, but it did not stop him. He simply gave Diana a death glare and began trading blows with the Amazon. Both combatants were throwing punches, kicks, counters, even low blows. Diana would hit Kakumei with a knee to his groin, and the Saiyan would respond with a punch that hit her in the same place. Unlike Kakumei however, Diana was doing well to keep up with his speed, dodging where she could and blocking as much as possible. Kakumei however took the hits and continued on, besides that, the Saiyan was doing something else as well. Something that Diana wasn't expecting to happen. Kakumei was copying her fighting style, as if the more she fought him, the more he uses her own techniques against her. This all came into fruition when Kakumei sent a quick roundhouse kick into the Amazon's chest.

Diana fell onto her back surprised, then quickly rolled to the side just as the Saiyan came down to stomp her face in. By this point Kakumei's clothes were falling apart. He was covered in bruises from fighting Diana, but still pushed onwards. Never had the Amazon faced anyone as tenacious as Kakumei. The only person who came close to him was Cheetah, but already, the Saiyan was surpassing Diana's feline nemesis. Flipping back onto her feet, Diana moved her head to avoid being hit in the face by Kakumei's incoming fist. She acted quickly, grappling the Saiyan's arm, then moving him into an armbar. Kakumei grunted, then let out a growl as he tried to force his arm away from Diana. The Amazon kept a firm hold on his arm, her own body covered in a few marks and bruises from fighting him. She could feel his arm flexing, as if he were getting stronger despite what she was doing. So Diana did the only thing that she believed would make the Saiyan yield.

Diana let out a cry of effort, then dislocated Kakumei's arm. The Saiyan let out a growl of pain as the Amazon released him. She watched as he held his arm, kneeling on one knee as he processed the pain. Just as she was about to ask if he had yielded, she saw Kakumei move almost in a blur. Then felt his fist cracking against her right cheek and send her flying across the room. Her back collided with the prestine white wall as a groan escaped her lips. She felt something fall from her nose, reaching up, she found her own blood smearing her knuckles. It had been some time since she had seen her own blood. None of the members of the League would ever fight her this way. The Amazon felt her warrior spirit beginning to rouse as a soft chuckle escaped her mouth. She was beginning to enjoy herself, enjoy the intensity of what should have been a friendly spar.

Diana lifted her gaze, finding Kakumei already on his feet with a dislocated arm. His aura remained around him like a blazing flame. Diana looked over him, impressed that he was still moving as he was. Then began to breath in and out, centering herself before getting ready for another round. "I have yet to yield...what say you?" Diana questioned, then found him uttering her first word in English to her.

".....No." Kakumei answered in a deep baritone of a voice. Just when they were about to charge at one another, an emerald wall separated the two of them. Kakumei and Diana looked up to find the Green Lantern using his ring to stop them. A stern glare was on his face just as Kal rushed in to Kakumei's side. He looked over the Saiyan's dislocated arm with worry.

"I know I should have stopped this.." The Kryptonian uttered with worry just as John Stewart came descending down onto the floor.

"Are you two out of your mind!?", John scolded, "Your little spar was shaking the Watchtower! If I hadn't stopped you, then the Watchtower would have been knocked into Earth's gravitational pull!"

Diana frowned, allowing herself to capture down and her warrior spirit to leave her. She hadn't realized how much force that she and Kakumei had put behind their blows. She felt a little guilty, knowing that she could have threatened everyone's livelihoods on the Watchtower. "I apologize, I simply got a little too excited." She apologized, then watched as John turn his stern and scornful glare unto Kakumei. The Saiyan however had an emotionless look on his face, the scarlet pupils that he had were gone. He was holding his arm for a moment, then popped it back into place as if it hadn't been dislocated in the first place. Just as John was about to spout his reprimands to Kakumei, the Saiyan simply turned and began walking away. Kal walked after him, moving to converse with his Saiyan friend.

"Kakumei-" Right as Kal's hand touched the Saiyan's shoulder, Kakumei's aura erupted from him once again. The shockwave of it startled and pushed the Kryptonian back. Obviously, Kakumei wanted to be alone at the moment. Diana was the only one who understood why that was the case. The Saiyan was in his element, battle a strong opponent, wanting to see what else she could do. She was the same way, her natural Amazon instincts, her warrior spirit resonating with his. Diana watched as Kakumei continued to walk away, his body barely showing any discomfort from the beating that she gave him.

Diana, Princess of the Amazons, and the Wonder Woman was the only one who knew why Kakumei was upset. The Saiyan was a warrior, a warrior who had yet to met a very real challenge. She had assumed that he barely showed any emotion because he felt guilt from the people that he may have killed. Now she was thinking differently, Kakumei didn't felt guilt. The deaths did not bother him, the Saiyan was upset because he had met his match....and it ended before it could have truly began.
