Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Sanguinem

Words: 2,386

...

[3rd POV]

The room was silent after the two Progenitors finished telling the Third Progenitor Krul Tepes about what had happened.

Their sudden appearance was unexpected enough because their mission was to destroy the walls of the human stronghold in the city and then attack the Imperial Demon Army itself.

Later, she would join the battle herself, but after their' words...

Krul frowned and clenched her fists.

Krul thought a lot as she looked at the two seemingly carefree Progenitors and their subordinates who stood at a distance on their knees.

The information that they had not just been beaten but literally branded like... like cattle was shocking to her.

They were both not weaklings but, of course weaker than her. However, easily dealing with all of them in an instant was... disturbing.

"... and after all of that, did he tell you to tell ME he would come here soon?"

Krul asked, her voice slightly raised and clearly irritated by what was happening.

Krul Tepes had a very petite figure, pink hair, red eyes, and long ears. Her cute face didn't show the oppressive aura she was emitting.

"Oh yes, he clearly hinted that he would come here for a visit."

Ferid nodded with a smile.

"Uh-huh, he wants peace, but for that, he plans to destroy all those who disagree. That's what I understood from his words."

Crowley spoke up.

"So... Crowley, do you really want to betray the vampires?"

Krul asked with a "sweet" smile.

"This guy is a monster, and I doubt even the Second Progenitor can do anything with him. Besides, he returned my emotions. You know, how wonderful it is to feel everything again and to feel... alive? I'll tell you, it's the best thing I've experienced in the last eight hundred years."

After he finished his words, he noticed her sharp movements but didn't have time to dodge them. He received a blow to the side that sent him crashing into the wall.

"The Council will not be pleased."

Krul Tepes said gloomily while clenching her fists.

"For some human, one of those dirty and endlessly greedy creatures, to dare to set conditions for me..."

"Oh, that's not all."

Ferid hurried to say it and caught her attention.

"He also said, 'You can even say that I know where her beloved missing brother is.' What was he talking about, do you know?"

Ferid tilted his head slightly.

"... "

Krul froze, her eyes widened, and her fists clenched even tighter.

"Ferid, if you're deceiving me... I'll be furious. Crowley, what do you think about the situation? After all, you helped him to some extent."

"You clearly have something similar... you like to help those who don't deserve it."

Ferid was clearly hinting that she saved orphans from the Hyakuya sect where experiments were conducted on Seraphim, but she should have killed them.

Then a moment of retribution came in from Krul who effortlessly approached Ferid and punched him in the floor.

"Shut. Your. Mouth."

Krul said.

"Does anyone else know anything?"

She glanced at the kneeling vampires to the side.

"We need to kill this pathetic human. How dare he..."

One of the vampires who had rushed in with the two Progenitors tried to insult Anthony even more but suddenly fell silent.

A moon sign appeared on his forehead, and he began to scream hysterically for a couple of seconds and then exploded while splattering everything around with his dark blood.

"I would recommend surrendering."

Crowley emerged from the wall, shrugged, and casually inspected the exploded vampire.

"It really was some kind of magical bomb."

Crowley scratched his forehead.

"To have vampires surrender to another human experiment by greedy humans?"

Krul said, settling back into her throne.

"But we can talk to him... maybe you're just lying about his strength to confuse me, Crowley. Traitors cannot be trusted."

Krul concluded by thinking about Ferid's words.

Does that man really know where her brother is?

...

"So, Shikama Doji is a very very old vampire who manipulates the Higari family to achieve his goals, and the Japanese Imperial Army was created with his help?"

Shiinoa calmly asked... sitting on my lap.

"Exactly."

I nodded.

"So he can cause quite a lot of trouble... but it's not in his style, but such a possibility should not be ruled out."

I said this and glanced at Mikaela who was still hugging Yuichiro.

"It's all so confusing..."

Mitsuba murmured quietly.

Guren is surprisingly sharp with his own quirks and plans.

However, our plans overlap, and if not exactly the same thing, then something close to it.

Moreover, Guren saw what I was capable of.

I also promised to help him with Mahiru Hiragi who was turned first into a vampire and then into a demon and imprisoned in his sword.

After taking Kureto's body, he told the other soldiers to follow him and gave us one last look.

"You should have thought about it before threatening the commander."

Shinoa snorted.

"Although I'm glad you believed in me and in Yui..."

"Just all your words and Guren's behavior towards us fit well into the new world picture."

Shiho adjusted his glasses.

"I have a sister and took a big risk by trusting this feeling, but I couldn't abandon you and Yui. It's out of a sense of duty, not because I like you."

Shiho said, and Shinoa suddenly chuckled.

"Tsundere."

Shinoa chuckled and then tilted her head thoughtfully.

"Tony... can you really bring back my sister?"

Shinoa asked, not raising her gaze at me.

"I'll be able to create a body without any problems, and if she wants, she can occupy it. I talked with Asuramaru, so I have an idea of their essence."

I stroked Shinoa's head.

"What are you planning to do?"

Shinoa asked her squad.

"I'll go to my sister... she was the only one who was younger than thirteen and got infected because of the virus eight years ago. Looking at the Imperial Army from the other side, I realize it's not the safest place for her."

Shiho spoke up and stood up. We were currently in one of the destroyed cafes with a beautiful view... of the dead city.

"I-I'll help you. "

Yoichi said, then glanced at Yuichiro.

"And... when will Yuichiro wake up?"

"I think by morning."

 I shrugged.

"I treated him after he passed out and won't need much time to recover... He's not human anymore, but one-tenth of a Seraph of the End."

"Is it because he's a Seraph that this Progenitor of the vampires is interested in him?"

Mikaela spoke up.

"I'm not sure, but he somehow gave the best result to all the experiments. I think I've given Crowley enough time to get to their base."

I said that and slapped Shinoa on the butt to get her off my lap. But she just got more comfortable and leaned against my chest.

"Do you... really want to kill everyone there?"

Mika looked at me.

"It's possible, but not necessarily. Don't you see what these years spent with vampires have done to you? You've come to hate humans yourself and consider them if not cattle, then definitely somewhere close."

"Because they're always to blame! No matter who planned anything, it's always humans who experiment on them!"

"Maybe. But humans also want to survive and have the opportunity to fight vampires. That's why it's necessary to put an end to it, even with the blood of thousands."

This time, I stood up and held Shinoa with one hand.

"Maybe I'll negotiate with Krul Tepes, but I'm more than sure that vampires from other countries won't go for talks easily and will just try to kill me."

"... a monster."

Mikaela murmured quietly while looking at me warily.

"He actually saved you, just like Yuichiro."

There were some hints of protectiveness in Shinoa's voice... as if a little wife were defending her husband.

"A... where are we going to live?"

Yoichi asked timidly.

"We're now listed as deserters..."

"Where did you get that from?"

Shinoa interrupted him.

"The general is dead. Guren will be in charge now. He'll figure something out, so I don't think they'll attack us... unless, of course, the head of the Hiragi family and the Imperial Army decide to kill him. But he hasn't been giving orders much lately; it's mostly been Kureto... I think Guren will manage."

Shinoa waved her hand and gracefully jumped down, letting go of my hand.

"If you want, you can stay here for the night."

I said, and with the help of alchemy, I easily created several beds and fenced them off with a small wall.

After all, we still need to do good because I recently killed a person and another dozen vampires... There will be many more deaths soon.

But judging by their looks, they still want to take the risk and return to Shibuya...

...

Sanguinem is the third vampire capital in this world and the third largest city they occupy.

The city itself is located beneath "Kyoto," so it's quite far from Shibuya.

Still, vampires can move around the world quite quickly especially since they have access to various technologies including planes and soldiers.

This vampire city can be considered the political center of vampire society where meetings of the nobility often occur.

I headed to such a city while using the marked vampires who had gathered roughly in one place.

"An entire city underground."

I spoke when I found myself above Kyoto.

I'm no longer trembling at the thought of killing hundreds of sentient beings and I was completely calm and aware of this.

The pride and arrogance of vampires and the greed and mistrust of humans make it impossible to settle things quietly.

I won't stay in this world for long, and the problem needs to be solved sharply and decisively... if I have the strength to do it.

"Where's the entrance?"

I tried to sense, with magic where to go. There were several entrances or exits... but it wouldn't be interesting to sneak in quietly.

After a minute of shaking the ground under my feet, I simply made a hole in the ground that led straight to the city.

"It's quite nice... In a way, it reminds me of some districts of Gotham."

I said this while watching the city.

"Intruder!"

I heard some vampire screams and took out a walkie-talkie.

"At the aqueducts!"

"So these are your aqueducts? To feed people?"

I tilted my head while landing next to the vampire, who immediately drew his sword.

"The cattle came to us on their own."

He said that and lunged at me. I stepped back slightly, letting his weapon pass by me, and then struck him in the chest with an open palm.

The slow blow hit its mark precisely, and blood sprayed from the vampire's back, as well as from his nose, mouth, and eyes.

It was one of the moves Bang used to practice when he was young. The vampire stood for another second, then dispersed into dust.

I picked up the walkie-talkie.

"Anyone who doesn't want to die, stay in your positions. If you attack, you will die. It's time to restore the current order."

I turned off the walkie-talkie and headed further towards a huge mansion where Krul Tepes most likely lives.

"Oh, children."

I noticed frightened children who saw the panicking vampires rushing around the corner and heard screams and moans.

The kids looked like "cattle," meaning they were all white with black pockets.

"Don't be afraid, I won't hurt you..."

I noticed that they were still afraid of me anyway.

So I put them to sleep and carried them to the nearest house, where I had to deal with some vampires.

After that, I kept going.

"An attack by one person, what a pitiful sight."

One of the nobles said this while looking at the crowd of vampires who decided to flee from me.

"Look at him...

"Is it necessary?"

I asked while standing beside him.

"Is it interesting? Can you demonstrate?"

I tilted my head slightly to avoid his sword.

"Slow, and such arrogance..."

I shook my head and, after another attack from the vampire, struck his arm holding the weapon... that exploded while splattering blood all around.

Bang's techniques are something else.

I was manipulating the energy of the strike and concentrated it not at one point but all over the vampire's arm after the blow.

"Oh, worm!"

He screamed while clutching his stump of an arm.

"Attack him!"

He ordered another group of vampires.

"Yes, attack."

I smiled at them, and they still decided to obey the vampire while hoping to overwhelm me with numbers.

It didn't work out, and they became perfect moving mannequins for practicing strikes.

"Don't..."

The noble tried to shout something, but it's hard to do when your head is separated from your body.

It's especially difficult when your head flies and smashes through a wall while splattering its contents across the city.

I had some short fights with regular vampires along the way, but in the end most of them gathered near the mansion I was heading towards.

I could see vampires that I knew immediately.

"You got here quickly."

Crowley remarked with a crooked smile.

"Well, it wasn't difficult; I have marks on all of you."

I shrugged.

"Are you surrendering?"

"A dirty human deciding to attack our city and hoping we'll just surrender."

She scoffed while stepping forward.

"Know your place!

"I know my place. Do you know yours?"

I asked with a smirk.

"You know, I had a couple of ideas on how to fight people like you with technology. Maybe I should use that idea?"

I took out a large suitcase from my ring that immediately opened, and... well, they wouldn't see nanobots with the naked human eye.

"Although I could just punch the old-fashioned way. Krul Tepes, right? Are you not planning to surrender? Crowley..."

I looked at the Crowley.

"What? I tried to tell her... and she beat me up and promised she'd give me to the council, and I don't want to burn under the sun without blood and everything else, so... I'm counting on you."

Crowley said, and Krul scoffed while looking at him as if he had betrayed his homeland... well, he did.
