Chapter 11: battle of concepts

"That's bad; the league knows that very well," he said, to which I nodded.

"The league has several experts in the field of demons like Shazam, Dr. Fate, Zatara, and, much as it pains me to say it, idiot John Constantine. Some others, if you ask them kindly, are Etrigan or Asa the nightmare nurse," I said, listing a few.

"Honestly, it's good that the team was created since it gives us an advantage over everyone's mentors. If we think about it, each of their mentors had to join forces due to an Appellaxian invasion. No one knew each other, but we can learn and be more useful than them," I said, with Aqualad nodding upon hearing the reasoning.

"You're right," he said as we returned to the center. There, we saw the satellite map and the mark of Red Tornado approaching, as well as two boom tube entrances.

"Acknowledged B01 Robin, BO3 Kid Flash," the electronic voice said, with both young men coming out. We were all dressed in civilian clothes with jackets.

"Hey old man, that smells so good," said Kid Flash, smelling the aroma of the tarts.

"Blueberries and apple, one pie," Robin said, running when she saw Aqualad looking at the map.

"You asked him, and what did he say?" said Kid Flash, looking at the map.

"It's coming now," Aqualad said, turning to the exit.

"Then what are we waiting for?" said Kid Flash, hitting Robin's shoulder and running. Aqualad followed them, and Conner crossed his arms, looking at us. Megan relaxed, and I shook my head, and we followed them, watching the Android go down.

Kid Flash yells "Red Tornado," Wally said, waving as we descended. The Android sees us, "Greetings, is there a reason for me to be intercepted outside the cave?" said the Android. Aqualad stepped forward. "We were hoping you had a mission for us," he said.

Tornado looked at him, "Mission assignments are Batman's responsibility," said the android, with Robin, Kid Flash, and Aqualad annoyed, which Tornado noticed. "But more than a week has passed, and nothing," Robin said annoyed, to which Tornado raised his hand.

"You will be tested very soon, for now, enjoy each other's company," said the Android, looking at them. "Guys, don't you think something is up?" Megan said telepathically.

"Yes, we haven't received any mission or anything from the league for 10 days. It's annoying; they treat us like children," Conner said. "It's cunning, the league is actually seeing how we interact with each other as a team. A mission is dangerous, and we can lose our lives in it or risk civilians. It's not a game; there are many people at risk," I said mentally. "Ethan is right; it would be terrible if one of us or an innocent person dies," Megan said, horrified to understand why they left us without missions.

"One point, but seriously Batman, hurry up and give us a mission. I don't want to go back to the simulator; I still have nightmares with that hellish training," Conner said annoyed. "By the way, I can't read Red Tornado's mind," Megan said, surprised to see Tornado.

"It's because he's an Android, Megan. The funny thing is that he develops a human soul and quite pure," I said, with my eyes shining a little. "Something like what you explained to me," Conner said, raising an eyebrow.

"No, he earned it by saving people. My Uncle Zedkiel, who is in charge of justice, must have given him a spark of a soul, and his actions slowly filled it up. My grandfather gave you a blank soul so you can do the same," I said mentally, nodding.

"This is not a social club," Aqualad said annoyed.

"No, but I've been told that social interaction is an important exercise for team building.

Maybe you can keep busy familiarizing yourself with the cave," Tornado said, testing everyone's reactions.

"You just gave them a hint," I said mentally to Megan and Conner.

"So that's his intention, the formation of the team in 10 days," Conner said mentally.

"Well, that's obvious, Megan. They want us to do the work that the three of us developed in the virtual camera," Megan said, looking at both of us.

Kid Flash looked angry, "Keep busy," he said, smacking Robin's arm.

"They think we don't know what they're doing," Robin said, entering Mount Justice.

"We can't know either. My mind reading doesn't work with him; he's inorganic," Megan said lamentingly.

Boy Flash flirted, "Hey, that was a good plan, so you know what I'm thinking," he said, trying to attract her.

Robin angrily told him, "We all know what you're thinking now," and nudged him.

"Hey," Kid Flash said. Aqualad seemed self-conscious and lowered his head.

"Now we will visit the clubhouse," Aqualad said annoyed.

"Well, Superboy and I live here. We can give you a tour," Megan said, with the three of them looking at Superboy.

"Don't look at me," he said, to avoid bothering to guide them.

"We won't, a private tour sounds like fun," said Kid Flash.

"Uh, she never said private," Robin said with a laugh. "Team formation, we will all go," Aqualad said seriously.

"Hey Megan, you didn't leave a cookie platter in the oven, did you?" I said, remembering the cookies, which Megan was surprised.

"I completely forgot about the cookies," she said, flying quickly, to which the five of us went back inside.

"By the way, Ethan, where do you live?" Aqualad said, knowing that I wasn't included in Megan's phrase about living in the bush.

"A 5-minute walk from the entrance of the hangar, the Church of stone and white wood," I said, pointing to the back.

"Old man, you take the role of an angel very seriously," said Kid Flash, not believing that I was an angel.

"What can I say, churches are a good refuge. Devils cannot step on sacramental ground, just like people who sold their souls, only if they are consecrated," I said, laughing.

"Yeah, sure, that thing stopped Wonder Woman and half a league from going through the gate of the fence," Conner said seriously.

"Oh, come on, the worst was taken by Amanda Waller's boys. What surprised me was the Harley Girl. Knowing the Joker's madness, I'm surprised that the barrier didn't carbonize and erase her," I said, remembering that fact, which surprised everyone.

"Task Force X, Batman has a headache with them. What was Waller looking for with you?" Robin said, questioning me.

"Apparently, they saw me with The League the day they were at CADMUS, mistaking me for an alien. So they had the intention of arresting me and experimenting on me, but in the end, seeing that it was in person, my charm affected her," I said in response.

"Wait, it would be your charm, you hypnotize or something like that?" said Kid Flash seriously, since he was dangerous.

"No, in my presence, the person has to speak the truth, and those who have a soul that will go to hell will be terrified of me, although I don't like to use the first one; it is extremely invasive. I only use it if necessary," I said, I knew that my father revealed the deepest desires of humans.

"Come on seriously, someone believes that," Kid Flash said incredulously to which he rolled his eyes and was going to annoy him a little.

"How did you get your powers and what color are you wearing your underwear?" I said, laughing. "I recreated the experiment that gave Flash his powers, finding his notebooks, and it's red with the Flash symbol," Kid Flash said, covering his mouth, with Aqualad surprised and Robin laughing.

"Come on, some kind of gas or pheromone?" Kid Flash said incredulously, holding his breath. To which we laughed and went inside to see Megan with the burnt cookies.

I looked at Conner and told him to eat them to which he looked at me, and we took some, but Kid Flash started eating them.

"Too bad, I tried to make the recipe that Ethan's Grandpa gave me," Megan said, although no one seems to be surprised by the part that my grandfather gave them to him, which surprised Conner. "That I have a super developed metabolism," said Kid Flash with a face full of burnt crumbs.

"Luckily there are still cakes that we prepared earlier," she said, taking out both.

"It was nice of you to do this," Aqualad said, looking at all of us.

"Thank you, Aqualad," Megan said happily.

"We are out of order, call me Kaldur'ahm, in fact, my friends call me Kaldur," Kaldur said, smiling.

Kid Flash leaned on the counter, "I'm Wally. Once, I already trusted you with my secret identity, unlike the guy with dark glasses on that side; Batman forbade the wonder boy to say his real name," Wally said, with Robin looking at him angrily.

"Mine is no secret; it's M'gann M'orzz, but you can call me Megan, like Ethan and Conner," Megan said happily.

Conner growled, "As you heard, I decided to call myself Conner Kent," Superboy said, to which Robin raised an eyebrow.

"My name is Ethan Asher," I said quietly, waving, with Megan and Conner looking at me.

"Ethan, aren't you going to tell them your whole name?" Megan said mentally worried.

"No, it would only upset me; it's not a very dear surname that we say Morningstar on earth," I said mentally while moving my shoulders.

"Your father," Conner said, crossing his arms and looking at me.

"Exactly, it's a bit... Oh, I have the Son of the King of Hell, the evil incarnate, the rotten scion, among other nicknames that some guys gave me," I said, shaking my head at Conner. The three of them looked at us in surprise.

"Hey, what are you three doing?" Wally said, looking at us seriously. "Ah, telepathic communication. While we were training, we decided to create a telepathic network to support each other," Megan said cheerfully.

The three of them were surprised. "Seriously, the same as those CADMUS Genomorphs; those things left us very touched," Wally said with a little fear.

"It's useful, if used correctly, you can coordinate attack and defense in various situations without an enemy finding out," I said quietly, eating a piece of cake.

"Well, what else is there on Mount Justice?" Robin said, probably hoping that Batman or Superman would add a few things.

"Well, there's only one place left to see, which is the virtual training room," Megan said, touching the wall and revealing an elevator.

"That was not in the original design of Mount Justice," Robin said surprised. "Ethan's grandfather installed it; Batman was furious because no scanner detected it," Megan said, entering the elevator, being followed by the others.

"Nobody notices that this elevator is bigger than it should be," Wally said, measuring the space. "Too much, about 3 or 4 times bigger," Robin said when analyzing.

"Magic, this elevator is enlarged with magic; I feel it very weakly, but this one," Kaldur said, to which I denied.

"He just doubled the space; the divine and the magical don't mix well, it's all a Kaldur theme," I said as we reached a silver room with a touch panel, a door, and a glass window.

Robin ran to the screen and began to analyze it. "Wow, it has simulations of hundreds of events; it also has some configured as Apocalypse and Old Rules," Robin said, studying things.

"What are the Old Rules?" Wally said, looking at the screen, to which everyone looked.

"The Old Rules are a rather brutal means used by the Angels in the rebellion of Heaven; only certain beings can use them," I replied, looking at them fixedly.

"I really want to see it," Robin said, waiting to see what those battles were, perhaps to analyze what they were or what power they had.

"Well, choose one of the lists and stay outside, but they are not as you imagine; it is not a fight in the sense of the word, it is more a battle of concepts," I said, entering when my Uncle Amenadiel materialized.

"Seriously, Robin, you choose Amenadiel out of all of them," I said, shouting, which surprised everyone. This was going to be bad, very bad.

Amenadiel spread his gray wings, forming a black leather jacket, to which I spread mine in a white suit. Our surroundings became chaotic and distorted.
