Chapter 14: Clue's of Past
"Papa, Papa. Catch me" said a small 8 year old girl giggling as she ran around the dining table while a man named Marcus kept following behind him laughing and making faces.
"I'll soon get my princess back" he said acting in a haughty manner eliciting the girl to giggle.
"Alright dinner is ready." came a sweet voice of a beautiful woman who entered the dining room carrying a pot as she smiled at the father-daughter duo.
"Coming Mama" said the girl aloud.
"Alice, how many times I have said to wash your hands before eating" the woman reprimanded causing the girl to act shy and she ran away to wash her hands.
"Elize baby, she's just 8. No need to be so strict." said Marcus to his wife Elize
"Hmph, it's because of you she's spoiled" pouted Elize as she looked sideways.
"Hahah, you look so cute when you pout." said Marcus as he pinched her cheeks.
"I Love You both so much."
Suddenly the scene changed into pitch black with now Elize lying in his embrace devoid of life and Alice in a small cage sobbing quietly while murmuring about her father.
Seeing this scene Marcus immediately woke up from his bed with a jolt breathing heavily and sweat on his back while his eyes became colder with a strange resolve visible in those blue eyes of his.
"Rayiys! Rayiys!" screamed a man outside his tent in what looked to be in Egyptian.
"What?!" exclaimed Marcus still having hard breaths.
"We have found a man who can tell us about Prince Khufu."
"Tell me where he is. We're leaving immediately"
Marcus was right now in Africa, specifically Egypt for the past month searching for anyone who could give him clues about the legacy of Prince Khufu, the first human and cursed reincarnate to come in contact with the Thanagar warships made of the Nth Metal.
Marcus knew if he wanted Nth metal then he needed to find where his supposed tomb laid for beneath that was the treasure room that he seeked, a room full of artifacts possibly half of them made with Nth metal or if lucky more.
He along with the guide he had arranged through his men seeped into various government position had now reached a very old dark skinned man who could die at any moment and a early teenage boy beside him named Sadiki.
Seeing the curious boy Marcus smiled and talked with him and learned of their family situation.
Apparently Sadiki and his grandfather were the only members left in his family where his grandfather worked as an artisan and he took care of his grandfather. Seeing them Marcus again remembered the past he had kept a distance from until this morning and decided on him sponsoring him which came as a very welcome surprise for them and mostly the old man for he could possibly relax for his grandson's future.
Later on asking about Prince Khufu, the man told him of the tales his grandfather had told him about a Prince and his wife who gained powers of god and along with it a curse.
Apparently, Prince Khufu was an Egyptian prince during the reign of Ramesses II in the 19th dynasty of ancient Egypt. A practicing priest, Khufu was engaged in a feud with his then rival, the Egyptian priest Hath-Set.
One day, as prophesied by a wizard, a vehicle of god crash landed in Egypt. Prince Khufu, Nabu, and the champion Teth-Adam searched the desert and come across the remains of the Thanagarian ship and a dying female space traveler.
Teth-Adam lifts the vehicle back to Khufu's palace, where it was studied inside the Temple of Horus at Erdu. Alien metal from the ship, dubbed "Nth metal", was examined and its ability to negate gravity was discovered. The sample was melted and used to create several remarkable devices; including a scarab which allowed Khufu to fly, a deadly knife, and a battle glove referred to as the Claw of Horus.
Prince Khufu and Chay-Ara were eventually killed by Hath-Set with the Nth metal knife. However, the properties of the metal and the strength of the pair's love created a bond between them, preventing their souls from journeying on to the afterlife and forcing them to remain in the mortal world, reincarnating as various people throughout time, always finding true love with each other but cursed to be repeatedly killed at the hands of a reincarnated Hath-Set.
Asking for the possible location of the tomb, the old man informed him that his empire ruled over the reigns of the Queen Cleopatra and had their tomb built a few kilometers west of hers. This was all the clue Marcus needed to scale down his search and find possibly the rarest reserves of a metal that could possibly make someone even immortal, though the sense of in which it is achieved maybe debatable.
With that Marcus set off towards his destination in a leisure manner for many people may know Egypt for ancient treasures and rich history, but there is more to this nation than you might expect. From surreal waters and golden sand beaches to remarkable architecture and natural therapies which Marcus had full intention of taking advantage of for he had really been busy for a long time and having a chance at therapy may prove him beneficial and maybe come to term with the unforgettable tragic past of his then family and the actions he took to make him the person or define him as the man he is today.
[A/N: So considering the reader's opinions I have decided to blend Marcus's past as a form of daydreams or nightmares that he will get at random or at occurence of actions similar to his past.
Thus his past would be revealed at much slower pace.]
