Chapter 46: Chapter 45
"What's the plan?"
Kid asked over the communicator.
"We're going to attack together and make sure no police officers get hurt."
Robin replied from a few kilometers away on top of a building with Speedy by his side.
It's not a good plan, but given the situation, there's nothing else they can do. Their enemy doesn't seem to be the type to use his head, and the police are too proud to retreat and leave everything to them.
At least they were kind enough not to shoot in the back, which would be one more thing Dio have to worry about.
One interesting thing Dio discovered about his demigod powers is that he was not bulletproof.
To be more precise, sharp things can cut his skin. Dio really didn't understand this.
For example, Diana can fall from a hundred-story building and not be seriously injured.
They can absorb the impact and heal almost instantly, but a bullet can kill them. That's why they receive so much training to compensate for this weakness.
Dio stopped thinking about it and focused on the battle again.
Starfire hasn't tried to get closer and has started firing her green blasts from a distance, but it seems she's holding back because the giant didn't seem to be suffering much damage.
Kid Flash then entered the fight and ran at high speed towards their enemy.
Kid jumped and kicked the giant squarely in the head, and when the giant fell to the ground, Kid Flash sped away before getting hit by a punch from his opponent.
"You missed, Bigfoot!"
Kid taunted.
"Bigfoot? I'm Mammoth!"
Mammoth shouted for the first time in response.
"Look, he can talk,"
Kid Flash continued to tease.
In response, Mammoth went to a vehicle on the sidewalk, lifted it, and threw it in the direction Kid Flash had passed, which Dio's direction.
When Dio turned around, he saw that dodging would hurt several police officers, so he put his shield and sword on his back and held the car in front of him while using both hands.
"Watch out, Kírix!"
Starfire yelled.
While holding the car in front of him, he couldn't see why, and before Dio could set it down, Mammoth's arm pierced the car's body and hit him directly.
The punch didn't hurt much, but it caused the car to explode, and sent Dio flying backward.
Dio did several somersaults in the air to avoid falling and hurting anyone, then he used the shadow's movement to reappear on the second floor, on the roof of a building.
"Kírix, are you okay?"
Robin asked through the communicator.
"I'm fine."
Dio replied while walking to the edge of the roof where he was.
Funny, right?
Dio can be injured by a bullet, but not by an explosion like that.
"Let's finish him off by attacking together!"
Aqualad shouted over the communicator.
"I agree, Kírix, come back here soon."
Robin yelled.
Dio looked down and saw everyone attacking at the same time.
Robin, Aqualad, and Speedy are now engaged in a closer combat, while Starfire is still in the distance and firing her blasts.
Dio was about to join in and end the battle when he saw movement outside one of the perimeter.
Soon, four big black police cars with the police logo on them stop a few meters from their vehicles.
There are a lot of troops getting out of the cars with tactical black clothes and big guns and surround the barrier.

Dio thought they would just stay and protect their position while they fight, but to his surprise, one of the SWAT members grabs a grenade launcher and pointed it at the center of the battle.
Dio jumped from the building where he was and landed a few inches from him, ripping the weapon from his hand.
"What are you doing, kid?"
One of the SWAT members angrily shouts.
The likely SWAT leader has all the typical of a lousy cop, which is short with a big belly and a terrible mustache.
"You were about to shoot at my friends; of course, I'm stopping you."
Dio replied and then twisted the barrel of the weapon to render it useless and throw it on the ground.
"I was trying to stop these freaks from destroying my street. Arrest this kid now!"
The police officer yelled.
Before Dio get attacked and start a battle against the police because of their useless leader, he teleport to the other side of the perimeter and run toward the battle.
They need to end this quickly before this idiot attacks.
The first thing Dio saw is Robin swinging with his Bat-Claw and hitting Mammoth's head with both feet.
Speedy passed under him and fires a point-blank arrow right into his chin, causing a small explosion.
Mammoth then took a few steps back only to be hit in the back of his leg by Aqualad, who had turned his water into a spiked club.
The force of the blow made him raise his leg, and Kid Flash enters the fight, running around Mammoth so fast that he creates a small tornado, sending him flying into the air.
Starfire jumps out from above and hits him in the stomach with both arms spread out. He is five meters high and can't avoid the blow.
This sends him flying to the ground.
Dio attack at that point.

(I Summon the Cold of the River Cocytus!)
Dio used the shadow's movement to appear beneath him a few inches from the ground and attack.
A black mist like pitch covers Dio's sword, lowering its temperature and coating it in ice.
DioI point the sword upward and thrust it into Mammoth's shoulder.
The force of the hit made both of them spin in the air and left Dio facing the ground.
When the Mammoth's weight is about to flatten Dio, he twisted his body, which caused Dio to fall face-first onto the ground.
Dio pushed his sword even further, pierce Mammoth's entire body and reaching the ground, his skin is quite hard, and he had to exert some force.
"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Mammoth screamed in pain and tried to move his body on the ground, but Dio's magic begins to take effect, and ice slowly starts to cover his body.
"Let me go!"
Mammoth shouted, and his two hands wrapped around Dio's neck, trying to choke Dio.
"Starfire and Aqualad, help him."
Dio heard Robin shout from somewhere.
Starfire appeared by his side and pulled one of his arms from his neck, forcing it to the ground with her two hands.
On the other side, Aqualad fired his water whip, which wraps around the second hand's wrist and took it off Dio's neck as well.
Meanwhile, Dio was still paying attention to his magic. He couldn't freeze him completely; he would die if that happened.
He also couldn't freeze him too little, as he could escape. So, he was guided by his instinct.
The ice then covered Mammoth's legs, stopped his struggles, and then his entire torso, leaving only his heart unfreezed.
Finally, his arms and head were covered and turned him into a frozen Mammoth.
"Shifff!"
Dio withdraw his sword from his shoulder and get off him.
"Thank you both for your help."
Dio thanked Aqualad and Starfire, who just nodded.
"Did you kill him?"
Speedy asked as he approached with the rest of the team.
"No, he'll thaw in a few hours."
Dio replied while monitoring his heartbeat.
Robin then raised his wrist and typed something on his mini-computer.
"The metahuman transport unit is on its way. We just have to make sure he doesn't escape until then."
Robin said.
"It was truly a beautiful use of magic, my friend. It takes a lot of skill to freeze a living being without permanently harming them or worse."
Aqualad said so and examined his new ice sculpture.
"The invulnerability helped a lot. I wouldn't try something like this without that."
It was the same situation with the Psions; their physiology allowed Dio to let loose a bit.
"If you two start talking about magic, I'll take a stroll around the city."
Kid said while twitching his mouth.
After spending some time together, Dio told them about some of his abilities.
Wally is a man of science, but he's not foolish enough to deny the existence of magic.
"I don't trust the newbie's parlor tricks either. We should handcuff this guy."
Speedy said as he approached Mammoth with an arrow nocked on his bow.
"Don't do that; the ice is very fragile. Any sudden action, and it will shatter like glass!"
Dio said that and stopped Speedy.
In fact, Dio was lying and wanted him to look even more stupid than he already is.
It worked.
"Guys, the police are here."
Kid said while pointing to the SWAT team with their leader in the front coming their way.
"Great."
Dio sighed.
"Any problem?"
Aqualad asked as he noticed Dio's unhappy tone.
"Their leader is an idiot. Let's try not to beat him from now on."
Dio said something, and everyone just looks at him like they don't understand it.
"From now on, I'm in charge of him. Get out of here before I arrest you for damaging public property."
The officer said this to all of them.
"Seriously, man?"
Kid exclaimed in surprised like everyone else by his attitude and audacity.
"That's no way to act with your elders, kid. Well, what can you expect from people like you?"
The officer looks at each one of them disdainfully until he looks at Starfire and freezes.
Of course, all the men here understood why, and they didn't like it one bit.
