Chapter 54: Chapter 53

"Is there anything wrong?" Isagani asked her again. "Don't you like the food?" He put down his utensils.

Anna was dumbfounded. She never thought Isagani would notice her staring at her food, but he did and now he was calling her out. Everyone in the table stopped eating and stared at her, waiting for her to answer.

She could feel the cold sweats running down her brow as she looked for a better way to explain why she hadn't touched her food. She fumbled for words to say. How would she say it, so no one would be offended? Should she even try the food, maybe she'll know if it's human or not? What if the food had something on it that would make her crave for more human flesh? She already had one before, and once was far too many.

"Well, are you afraid that the food might have salt?" Isagani asked. "Or maybe, it had some sort of garlic?" He said while passing to her a meat of adobo.
