Chapter 5: Thanatos god of death

Awkward doesn't explain the moment between Adir and Killian as they drive to Birmingham. They didn't care about curfew if there was one.

Adir was still sniffing from the emotional moment he just had. Because he didn't believe that he just prevented his father from dying.

But if he did, that would be great.

Killian was having a hard time concentrating with a sobbing Adir on the passenger seat. He loosened his grip on the steering wheel and placed his one hand on Adir's thigh.

Adir looked up and sighed.

"What happens if-"

"Shh! Don't start with those ifs! The time you get hopeless is when the man acts!" Killian said and looked forward so he couldn't see Adir's reaction upon the mention of the man.

"What the man? As long as I remember, there wasn't any man right?" Adir asked but Killian was the one hopeless.

He didn't know what to say so he stayed quiet. Adir annoyed with the silence, he leaned in his seat and closed his eyes.

He thought that it's better if nothing happens to his father and what Killian saw becomes a lie. Not that he will see Killian as a liar, but it is better.

Killian slowly drove and they would stop here and there. He never knew someone could be awkwardly, uncomfortably bored as he was bored that day.

When it was still night, they entered Birmingham.

Killian parked outside Adir's house and softly shook Adir so he can wake up from his miserable sleep.

Adir squirmed and opened his eyes so he can see what is going on. When his eyes were set on his house he yawned loudly and opened the car door.

"Thank you for doing what you did! I'm happy that my father will be alright again!" Adir said and gave Killian zero chance of crushing his hopes into crumbles and went out of the car.

He walked slowly towards the door in front of him but his vision became equally blurred as he takes more steps towards the house.

Gladly, he went inside and closed the front door with a loud slam making the whole house wake and came to attend him.

Donald was the first one to come outside and caught him before he went to the floor. Adir never felt weak like that before.

Just being on the floor like that made him think that there is a situation like this one which will make him feel hopeless.

His mother ran downstairs holding her dress like a princess in a distress. She was having teary eyes and her eyes were fixed on her son as she ran towards him.

"What happened? Where were you all day? Do you know how I was worried? Your dad's phone wasn't picked up-"

"Wait what? I was with dad all da-"

"Mistress come and see this news!" Other servants came rushing. That made Adir's legs to acquire a sudden strength and ran towards that living room.

"On the shocking note, the driver was well saved and the one who sat in the back seat was badly injured and was dead on the way to the hospital. The dead man was indeed a young fellow who was recruited that day... And it was his welcome party after all! I will give Jimmy the mic so he can give us more info!"

"Yes, Brenda! It is shocking indeed! The chairman of the psychiatrist community said he was a genius little fella and they had great expectations of him... I wonder where God of death went wrong..."

God of death!

That's right!

Adir remembered when Killian said that there was a man! What if that man was the said god of death?

Nothing functioned in his mind at that time. He suddenly bolted out of the house and ran towards the house of his enemy friend.

Killian was outside talking to a man who was more like a cosplayer. He wondered what made that unknown man go crazy this early in the morning.

With tears of anger and frustration, he stomped towards Killian and the other man.

He did everything so he can prevent the death of his dad, but they were all futile. His dad is dead in the end anyway.

"Kai, who is that man you are talking to?" Adir said his voice a little high. Killian turned to him with a confused look.

Now that he looked at the man, the appearance seems familiar. Long blue-purple hair, big dark blue wings... They seem so real. He was decorated with gold all over his body... Necklace, Bangles to a waist belt.

Those gold seemed too real. Can someone go that deep for a cosplay?

If he is real, then he had an answer to his identity... He is been seeing the same man for 6 years now.

He calls him Mr. Natos because he looks like Thanatos, the Greek god of death-

When the realization hit him, his eyes went wide in shock. He turned to Killian who was starting to get worried.

"Who were you talking to? I heard you talking!" He said, trying hard to stay composed. But Killian saw through that.

"I don't know Adir! I only hear the voice, I don't see the man! Is everything okay?" Killian answered confirming Adir's worst nightmare.

He gulped and went near his friend who was visibly worried by that time. He looked at the man who now had a soft smile that he always wear when they see each other.

"Do you... Uh, do you think that man is the god of death?" Adir asked looking straight to the man's eyes that were shining gold. He looked away.

"Probably! When he says something to me, something bad always happens. Today was probably the longest conversation we ever had!" Killian said making Adir hang his head in despair.

"I can only guess the content!" Adir said and squatted his legs giving out. The anger he didn't feel before embracing him.

Tears streamed down his cheeks as he lamented and cursed everything.

Killian not knowing what to do, he just stood there looking at his friend crying.

When something heavy in his throat decreased, he stood up and cleaned his face. Soft rays of sun started to shine in the sky.

The morning was already here.

Killian's house door opened and his sister came out of the house. When she saw Adir she went to hug him.

Killian just stood there fidgeting.

Adir smiled and snaked his arms around Jessi.

"How did you know I needed this now?" He said hunting the sarcasm to his standing friend.

"I'm so sorry Adir! I can't-"

"Thank you, Jessi! Can you do me a favor? I don't think I can handle all tha-" he stopped when he couldn't anymore.

"Please take care of my mother!" Adir said and fainted.

I mean everyone knew about his "not feeling anything" phenomenon. But this was so strange too. He didn't have any sadness in his face... He was so composed and angry.

Jessi looked at his brother and looked down at Adir who was unconscious.

"Don't worry about him, he always shows the wrong emotion in the wrong situations! But he is sad trust me!" Killian said and helped his sister to get Adir to his house.

A/N: Time Skip because why not?😌😌

Adir never felt drained in his whole life like those three days. Wearing a black suit and a necktie. Greeting everyone, standing beside his crying mother patting her, taking people's sorry, and get them to talk behind him about his poker, dry face.

You know the drill.

When everything was over and his father was resting in the better place as the scary-looking Reverend keeps saying, they returned home.

Starting a new life without his father reprimanding him every day. Everything sucked. He felt like one piece of himself was cut out from his body.

It was so bad that he couldn't experience what that feel though. He felt something missing... So empty..but it didn't hurt.

That hurt even more. Why wasn't he feeling the pain of losing his dad? Ah, well... It's all in the past now!
