Chapter 8: Dungeon Exploration (Part II)
"Look Out!"
It was Brian who said it with a surprised voice.
The member that went to the dungeon with the hero's party is Brian with 4 of his man. Up at the dungeon ceilings, there is a numerous ant-like demonic beast coming out from their nest. The ant color is bloody red, with a body about 30cm in length, it was a big demonic beast ant.
But the hero's party didn't panic, Yamato with a calm face do his job perfectly.
"Protect those who believe, punish them who rebel ,"Shield Interruption"."
Many lights in a form of a shield appear in the air. Next, The swarming ants fall down from the ceiling to attack the intruders when they came into contact with the light shield.
Boom!Boom!Boom!
The spell Yamato cast is a defense-offensive type, the moment someone that Yamato think of enemy came into contact with the shield, it will explode mercilessly. The blood and meat of the ants splattered everywhere that it turned into a sea of blood.
But because the number is way too many, the shield alone is not enough. There are still about 20 ants able to land unsnatched. But, they landed at where the blood of sea was, and it was as if saying to Shizuku "Please attack and kill me with your lightning," with no change of expression, Shizuku pull out her sword from the sheath, and with the tip of the sword touches the sea of blood.
"Quitely get burnt,"Eclair"."
The lightning is running through the blood and torment them slowly.
Kiiii!
A death cry is echoing inside the floor. After a while, Shizuku stops her lightning because all the ant's schorched for good.
"Good work."
Runa welcome Shizuku back with a smile that made Shizuku smiled back sweetly to Runa. And something grew inside Arata when she witnesses that scene before him. Somehow he can his own heartbeat, he himself does not know the reason.
"Let's advance."
With Brian taking the lead, the party advanced to the 10th floor without any problem.
"Come to think of it, Brian-san. Where is this light coming from? aren't we supposed to be underground?"
"Can you see something behind that light?"
After hearing that, the 4 of them looking closely to the source of the light, then they could see a mirror-like fragment scattered on the ground ceiling.
<Sun Mirror Ore: It released sunlight when there is mana nearby.>
Runa appraisal is activating on its own again. The reason is it takes Runa's curiosity as a trigger and appraise the object she takes interest at.
"A stone?"
"Yeah. But precisely it was an ore, the ore will shine a light when they sense mana near them."
"Is this one of the dungeon characteristic you said before?"
"It is as you said, Haruna."
And they keep advancing floor by floor with no problem. More like the dungeon is at easy mode for the heroes. It was to the extent the monster died within 1 hit. Maybe they're too cheat-like character for this world.
But Runa feels a bit frustrated, she hasn't shot even one monster. With a knight, and her party protecting her, she feels like a princess with a bodyguard all around her.
The dungeon floor farthest record a human reaches is the 35th floor. The party's advanced the 15th floor easily, Maybe they will surpass the record without sweating a drop, Brian thought.
They defeated a Treant that's said to be troublesome because of their surprise attack. The Treant body is huge, it was at least 2,5m in height. They used a camouflage skill to blend with the surroundings and attack from a blind spot, but whenever they move, they will leave a blur-like space that made Runa curious and her appraisal is activated on its own. And now, the appraisal always activating on its own when she sees a blurring space. So Runa just needs to tell their position to Arata and Shizuku to finish them off. Why she tells their position, but not kill it herself? Her bow doesn't have enough power to pierce the solidness of the wooden body the Treant had.
This made her realize how powerless she was. But she always thinks of a way to contribute something to the party. In the end, all she can do is take down 3 bat-like demonic beasts and telling the position of a monster that is hiding within the shadow.
After advancing the 17th floor, Brian decide to call it a day and return to the kingdom. Runa grips her own hand so hard, realizing how powerless she was.
The moment they returned to the kingdom, she practiced her Projection non-stop. When her mana runs out, she went to the library for data gathering. But because of mana exhaustion, she fell asleep inside the library.
"Wake up, Runa."
She heard a familiar voice, the voice gave off a warmthness every time she heard it. She can smell a faint medicine scent blended inside the room. She can feel her back touching a soft sensation of sheets. Last, there is a warmthness wrapping her right hand.
The source of the warmth was a woman that is around her 30, the eyes of the woman looked so lifeless. The woman has similar eyes with Runa, her still somewhat beautiful face with her hair braided.
