Chapter 11: Finally feel me
"I thought it would take this whole world to finish until you could finally feel me."
A mocking voice was floating around in her mind. It carried a hint of mischievousness and devilry. At the same time, a mass of air was denser than the surroundings just above her head, declaring its presence to be dominant - those below him should submit to him.
"Close your eyes."
When Zhi obediently closed her eyes, a peculiar being had appeared in her mind!
That being was suspended in the air, graceful but overbearing, in a vast and unending white space. He had his arms crossed on his chest, one leg also crossed the other. His demeanor was that of an elegant young master but based on his bearing, he was definitely more than meets the eye. At a glance, Zhi's first impression of him was definitely a younger brother to her. It did not matter if he really was a great young master, in her eyes, he was just a haughty teenager.
Even though he was extremely gifted with good looks, it was unconditionally filtered out by her glass.
"These are the compensation rewards from the system:
'Absolute Strength',
'Unparalleled Beauty',
'Aberrant Talent',
'Genius Brain' and
'Relentless Athlete'. You may choose one that you desire..."
Holographic banners lined up in a row under his feet. They were glowing with a golden backlight. Each banner represented the five rewards, with persuading and powerful illustrations on them. These items would be a rare or epic treasures one could only acquire after completing a high difficulty rating mission.
Ensuing a long silence, Zhi frankly blurted, "How about giving me something to avoid being stabbed or kidnapped? And safely arriving at the world's destination..."
Remembering how she first came to, and then the arrows and fire, and last night's incidents... She felt that even though this body had nine hearts (life), her own heart could not take another life threatening situation. All those traumatic events might have scarred her for a lifetime if not because she had a considerable aptitude in 'taking in or accepting everything on her way including pain'.
"....." Sounds like a good idea. He could not help but nod his head in affirmation.
He was reminded of the difficulty to warn her of the impending danger last night. Additionally, getting her out of her misadventure without communication was a troublesome challenge. Furthermore, the actions she had taken was unpredictable. He was displeased that his ability to calculate others' behavior was challenged.
He shrugged it off as he judged Zhi to be an imperceptive specimen. It was not his own lackings that he failed to anticipate her uncouth actions.
Out of the blue, he started to explain things regarding the system, the 'players' and the various worlds where the clients lived in.
The holographic banners were retracted back and in its place was a widescreen display. The screen showed a full data on the system and the worlds, with some video play that visualized the variety of worlds available.
The first half was a full introductory course mainly establishing the relationships between the four. The second half was the system's clients' success stories. Whether it was about achieving love, success, wealth, fame and glory, the players could deliver at almost 90 per cent of what the clients wishes.
Initially, Zhi digested what had been delivered thoroughly. Somehow, not for long, information just flew into her right ear and out her left ear. Naturally if she had a skip button, she would pressed it numerous time. Just like how she felt like skipping the home shopping channel on tv.
She thought she had already get the gist of it.
Her body was a villainess character (not a current client) but since this was an unregistered entrance (the real player was already in this world) she would gain nothing and possibly lose nothing.
He advised Zhi to treat this world as a tutorial or an open-world free roam. On condition that she must strictly remember that the butterfly effect was still in place, this original host body's life after system player's disruption would take on a divergent effects on the outcomes.
And he just then recollected that as shortly as she possessed the villainess' body, she had overturned the destiny of the villainess. Was my warning a tad bit late?
'Oh well...' Shrug, shrug.
"Hey, how about this body and my own memories?" Zhi's reluctance was reflected on her small voice.
