Chapter 2: Chapter 1

The worlds known all start somewhere, those worlds are all connected by one. We call this world as the First. The First was a world divided by several races.

The humans still learning as they're world struggles through the old days of yore. The demon and Angel races. The rulers: Cassiel of the Angels, and Lucifer for the demons. The Angels were a powerful race that balanced out the Demons. And finally, the Dragon born race, those in power were a part of the Legion of Elders, the only ones that could turn from a humanoid form to a full dragon form. The most powerful of the races were called Elementals. They were the children of both Demons and Dragons. Those who were called Elementals were powerful, possessing an ability to take in the magic and use it as their own.

Both the Angels and Demons wanted this power. The Dragon and Demon parents were watchful of any of their children. Those discovered as Elementals were taken and trained as weapons.

The Dragon Kings were on the verge of war with the Demon Kingdom, and a child was discovered. She was born of the first demon princess, Lilith, during the birth the princess was attacked and taken, the child was born in the arms of a Dragon. Lilith was murdered by the Dragons, the child remained nameless. She was raised until she was a year old. Demon soldiers found the child and brought her to the King.

"You were my future wife's child" the King bellowed, the raven-haired small infant in his arms, the court advisors and guards stood absolutely still. The death of Lilith was an impactful moment in the war. "I shall raise you as my daughter, and your name shall be," He looked into the light purple eyes of the small child.

"Marie, Heart"

The child was born into luxury but remained humble, her own world built upon her siblings. Despite Lilith being the future wife of Lucifer, he had many children and a wife before her. The oldest children were Marcus, Alastor, Catherine, and Isabel. Then her closest sibling, Emily Hope Heart, she was always there during the war. As Marie grew older there were always moments, she wondered about who she was in the vast world of politics and power.

The world was kind in her younger years and as she grew, so did her powers. She mimicked her elder brothers' magic, manipulating time slowly, seconds and minutes, and learning how to control plants, from seed to trees.

As she watched her elder sisters Catherine with her ability to twist reality, and Isabel able to freeze any form of liquid matter, from metal to water in the air. The small reality shifts Marie made were slight, a change in her eyes, her lips, any change that wouldn't be noticed. She turned the water in the air into snowflakes before working on harder magics.

Of course, no one noticed this. Not even as Marie turned 10 and her Father had taken on a human wife. Yuri. She was beautiful, kind, and caring. The woman had given birth to twin boys her sons. James and Harry. Harry and James carried her Father's blue fire. She would watch but never attempt anything other than a small ember.

Marie would try to watch the two toddlers when Yuri was busy. The small squishy, charcoal haired twins with bright blue eyes. She would make small snowflakes for the small children to watch fall then. She'd sit and play with them as small embers danced around their hair and fingers. She smiled and made a small blue flame, the babies watched her intently. Her face twitched as one of them, Harry smiled at her, babbling happily. Yuri returned and Marie sat with the babies, not caring how her stepmother saw her but she instead played with the babies. Her stepmother smiled and her fingers brushed on Marie's head.

"Thank you, Marie," She said. Her voice was soft, soothing almost. Marie nodded; she didn't know how to react. What do you say to a mother when you never had one? She kept playing with the babies, a small fire on the babies joined becoming larger.

"Harry, James no," Yuri said, pulling James away from Harry. She gave a soft smile as Marie picked up Harry, "They like you" Marie looked at her Stepmother. Despite being a fit mother, she had a grace to her that seemed almost, angelic. Not like the murderous angel's from above but those in the texts of old that would be the object of worship to humans.

"Thank you, I just like children" Marie admitted silently cursing herself for speaking. Harry tugging softly on Marie's black hair. She kissed the child's forehead. "They are my brothers as well so I could only hope they like me." Yuri smiled kindly. Her brown eyes were warm and bright. She sighed as the two began whining. Setting her son down, she watched Harry and James attack each other, playing as babies do.

Marie enjoyed watching her younger brothers. She would perform small magical tricks for the small babies as they grew into toddlers. She was noticed by some of the courtiers as she turned 12. At this point, the war had gone on for so long that Emily had disobeyed their fathers' command to stay home and instead chose to join the military secretly. Leaving a note for her sister:

'One day you will understand why I chose to do this. But you must understand we are no longer just children. We are princesses soon to be Queens of our relm. We must fight for our home.'

If not, who will? These men that know nothing of this painful truth of death or the truth after they are taken home broken and torn?

I will go and I hope you will see me again.

Marie followed her sister, kissing her baby brothers and her stepmother's cheeks.

"I hope you return to us," Yuri said. Her Stepmother's white flowing dress brushing against her figure beautifully. Marie gave her a letter a small smile on her face, her eyes glowing in the darkness.

"I want you to give this to my father, he will be furious no doubt, and I wish for him to understand why I'm doing this" Marie said. Yuri nodded. Emily waited at the entrance to the castle some other guards patting me in farewell. Marie walked to her sister, her bright blue eyes glowing in the early morning darkness. She wore a charcoal cloak with a soldier's uniform beneath her cloak. She didn't have ranks visible but merely gave her sister a smile, her black hair falling into her face.

"Are you ready?" She asked. Marie gave her a look that read, Are you? She shrugged her hands shoved into her cloak's pockets.

"Well I guess we should leave right; I mean I still don't think you are prepa-" Marie opened her mouth; a small tendril of ice appeared at her sister's throat.

"I've been prepared for a while" Marie spoke, her voice soft but deadly. Emily gave her sister a smile, it was a soft smile one that was of respect and admiration. The tendril turned to vapor as Marie walked past her.

"Let's go, I'd hate to be late" Marie whispered. Emily gave a knowing smile as her sister led the way. Their cloaks billowing against the wind.
