Chapter 3: Chapter 1: That's how it is

Eguru woke up. "Ugh... I'm still tired but whatever." He's actually pretty lucky to not have any big injuries on him after getting chased by horrifying creatures. Well, besides that wound on his shoulder. He ripped off a part of his clothes and bandaged it. The bleeding had already stopped once he woke up. So how do I get out of here?"

It definetely was a question worth asking. He's still hanging around in the chamber and nothing has changed since he woke up. The monsters are still frozen up.

"Huh?" he then realized. "There is no new system announcement.. In fact it seems to have disappeared completely. Not that it was something I didn't expect anyways though. But still strange", he scratched the back of his head.

He glanced at the wall in front of him. Finally, this massive hall had changed. The wall moved, the creature let go and allowed Eguru to take a peak to the outside world. A bright light was now shining right onto Eguru's face. "Woahhh, it's about time I finally get to go outside!"

Grinning, he stepped forward into the bright new world that awaited him.

"It.. feels great! The breeze strafing my skin feels great and the air is refreshing too!" He observed his surroundings with all the different senses the human body has. Green grass, a few tall brown trees and a vast, clear sky was everything to him right now.

"Heh, it's been so god damn long!! Oh how I missed living!!!"

Tears were running down Eguru's face. Not "living" for several hundred years made him feel empty and he just wanted to vanish. The void was dark, cold and consumed everything. Even the feelings of mankind.

But here he was, living, breathing, smelling and hell, even tasting fresh air and the warm sun. Eguru of course cried because of joy - how couldn't he be happy?

"Man.. I am so glad I passed the trial!" Eguru continued to celebrate for quite a few more minutes before eventually calming down. "But now that I think about it, why am I even here? Was I reborn into another world?"

He glanced at an insect that crawled up a tree. "No. If I was reborn I would be a baby again which is not the case. I'm still the same "me" I used to be hundreds of years ago. Nothing has changed."

And it's true. He's still the same handsome man in his twenties that died while being in the wild. Eguru wasn't married or even had a girlfriend at that point of time. All he cared for was his job and to gain more knowledge. It didn't matter if he had to read books, watch videos or research something completely on his own. That's what he had found interest in.

"Well, it's time to get going. I may be able to find out something about this world I'm in."

He then noticed. "Ugh, why did I have to get out on a cliff? Now I have to climb all the way down..." He let out a sigh. Disappointed, he searched for a safe spot to descend this cliff.

"Welp, that's just how it is I guess. Time to get exhausted again", he laughed. "Sucks that I don't have a rope."

First, he looked for any rock he could set foot in. Then, he continued to put his second foot in position and slowly traveled down the cliff.

About 40 minutes later, he finally reached the bottom and safe grounds. He was soaked in sweat again and wiped it off with his shirt. "Man, I needa take a shower as soon as possible. I really hope this world is technically advanced."

Putting that aside, the next matter was water and food. He's been transported to this world without anything, so this is going to be the main focus right now.

With that in mind, he scouts the area he's in and makes some observations. 'Not too far away is a forest.. Probably in the east.. Ahead of me is a landscape with flowers and some trees. But it is so vast I can't see what's ahead without actually taking that route. In the west, well there's this huge cliff beside me. So I don't know about that either." He sat down on an rock beside him.

'It would be smart to first explore the forest as there might be food but I feel like going south. I haven't noticed it at first. A tight gap between those huge boulders behind me.'

Eguru let out a sigh and stood up. Unarmed and with empty pockets, he squeezed through the rocks and came out on what looked like the other side of the world.

"Just what have I gotten into?..."
