NEW FRIENDS AND OLD MEMORIES
After the hug Ayo was stunned to see chopper with a teddy, He watched as she dropped it in his ward.
"I've dropped bunny here for you feel free to talk to him, I'll come back and check up on you" Chopper said as she left his room.
Ayo was still speechless after all this,the sign he was looking for could it be Chopper?. He asked himself if it was a mistake, the fact that she arrived the moment he was about to take his life and the way she looked like one of his daughters that died during the fire outbreak. His house got completely burnt by the flames and part of his body got burnt in the process.
Ayo noticed something in his pocket when he removed it he saw his wife necklace. She gave it to him to repair it for her two days ago, after alot of deep thinking Ayo realized taking his life was the last thing his family would have wanted, his wife and kids would have told him to live on even if it was just for them.
Ayo made a vow that day to live on for his family and repay Chopper in anyway he can. Ayo finally found a reason to live, a new light through the tunnel, for him it was hope.
After a while Chopper was back with a cardboard box, Ayo obviously confused and still speechless had no choice but to observe the kid that just saved his life.
"Come with me Mr bunny, I want to show you something" Chopper picked the bunny then they left his ward. As Ayo followed her he noticed how Chopper interact with the staffs and even other patients, it was as if she was the owner of the hospital or a worker in the hospital.
"Charles don't forget that your scan is by 3:00pm" Chopper continued "Yusuf you forgot to iron your lab coat again"
"They took the light before I was able to iron it again" Yusuf replied chopper while laughing.
"Mrs David even after donating your blood every three months you're still looking beautiful and chubby than ever. Chopper said that with a wink directed towards Mrs David. "Thank you so much dear " Mrs David said while drink a big bottle of cold milk.
Chopper and Ayo arrived at the roof top of the hospital, they sat down and not too long they noticed how noisy and the not so peaceful environment surrounding the hospital. It was next to the road side where cars and trucks passed by and the sound of pedestrian walking by the road and not to mention the hold up and constant horning from cars and construction sites and factories near by only made it worst.
"Mr bunny do you know that I come here once in a while because this is my peaceful place, I know it's noisy and all but hear me out when I start thinking I hardly notice my surroundings and at that moment I feel at peace with myself" Chopper said this while she leaned back on the chair. Ayo was so shocked to see a kid at her age to be this composed and we'll spoken, she was acting like an adult at her age.
"Where are your friends kid?, you should be playing with them instead of coming here and thinking about life"
"My friends are working right now and I can't disturb the patients all the time" Chopper replied Ayo question with a smile.
"So how long have you been in this hospital?,like when will you leave this place ?" Ayo asked again
"Mr bunny you should know by now that I live here, this hospital have been my home ever since I could remember. The nurses said my mom abandoned me when I was just a baby, they took me to an orphanage home but they realized I was too sick and weak to even be in the orphanage. Infact they later realized I can't stay three days outside a hospital. Am a sickler and Dr Chioma said I have a weak heart that needs to be checked up at least once a day.
So the staffs in the hospital took me in, the staffs,manger,and even long term patients are my family. Ayo was heart broken after hearing all this, she was a kid who had no idea who her parents was,she hardly even know what the outside world was like, she had little or no friends around her age. Now Ayo felt stupid for trying to take his life, if a child like Chopper was living in this kind of condition and still save his life, who was he to take his life. At this moment Ayo had only one thing in mind and that was to find a way to help Chopper. He did not know how but he was determined to do so. Chopper pulled out the box and it was like she was ready to show him what was inside of it.
