Monsters are Ranked on the Dangerous Scale based how much damage they can cause, however there are various complicated intricacies in assigning a new monster a rank based on toughness, damage output, and intelligence.
How a species of Monster differs from a Race is a closely guarded secret of the Monster Research Society but for species whose Monster status is up for debate are marked with (contested)
[androphagos] --- indicates the monster is an obligate man-eater
[cosmopolitan] --- indicates that the monster is found worldwide
Undead are in their own section
Most Plant Monsters are also medicinal and therefore found in the Junior Wood Cub's Guide to Medicinal Herbs, however plant monsters that are not medicinal with be found here
Dangerous Scale
Please note that the Dangerous Scale is not absolute and instead offers more of a set of guidelines
1- Harmless, basically regular animals, may be damaged by bullets and unenchanted weapons
2- Can defeat a child; About as dangerous as a starving or frightened wild animal, can be damaged by bullets and unenchanted weapons
3- Can defeat a civilian; can only be damaged by enchanted weapons and magic; individual monsters of this rank or higher have the ability to use Mana/Qi
4- Can defeat a novice adventurer
5- Can defeat a group of civilians
6- Can defeat a group of novice adventurers;
7- Can destroy a small village
8- Can destroy a large village
9- Can destroy a small town
10- Can destroy a large town/ a ship
11- Can destroy an unfortified city
12- Can destroy a fortified city
13- Can wipe out a province
14- Can wipe out a small kingdom/ a fleet; sapience possible
15- Can wipe out a medium-sized kingdom
16- Can wipe out a large kingdom
17- can wipe out a small empire
18- Can wipe out a medium-sized empire
19- Can wipe out a large empire/ an armada
20- Can wipe a continent; Only one record of a Rank 20 monster being defeated exists and that was by another Rank 20 monster

Acid Orchid: Rank 5; one of the few plant monsters that does not double as medicine, spits highly concentrated acid, sometimes used as a security measure
Aggro Remipedes: Rank depends on number; a predatory version of remipedes; more venomous than regular remipedes
Assassin Shrimp: Rank 8; monster version of a spearer type mantis shrimp; about the size of a dwarf
Black Wyvern: Rank Varies; a nocturnal species native to Talamh Aisling, has an extraordinary sense of hearing compared to any other member of the dragon family (race or monster)
Bladed Mongoose: Rank disputed; can hunt snake-type monsters regardless of Rank, it is speculated that it has an ability that scales its strength to its prey
Blood Willow: Rank 7; one of the few plant monsters that does not double as medicine, nicknamed the Vampire Willow
Blue Mindsucking Tang: Rank 7; a Tropical fish monster that attacks with mind magic
Boxer Shrimp: Rank 5; a shrimp monster the size of a toddler with a powerful punch
Catoblepus: Rank 11; an ox-like monster with poisonous breath that is native to the Continent of Earth, invasive species, can survive in toxic environments
Celestial Honeybees: Rank depends on number; the most prized honeybee, immune to any sort of possible damage by plants
Chimera: Rank Varies; A monster born from the fusing of several creatures which can occur either naturally in a Mana Storm or artificially in a laboratory
Copepods: Rank depends tech; a strange crustacean that is fairly weak physically but augments itself with strange unreplicable tech
Cowardly Porcelain Crabs: Rank 2; a scavenger monster
Dandy-Goblins: Rank ---; wiped out by the Druid and a horde of Venomous Rats, artificially created
Daredevil Leopard: Rank 10; a monster that loves challenges
Dream Flies: Rank Undecided; a small insect monster that travels in swarms, their bite is used to put their prey to sleep so it can be devoured without a hitch, extremely vulnerable in terms of defense
Elemental Hamsters: Rank 4; each hamster is uses one type of Elemental magic which depends on which continent they are from [cosmopolitan]
Feathered Sickle Claw: Rank depends on number; a bipedal lizard-like creature covered in feathers, no bigger than a human, a pack hunter, intelligent, native to the Saurian Jungles of the Earth Continent and Forest of Fun Guys of Talamh Aisling
Fossil Fuel Monster: Rank 20; an artificial monster said to resemble a creature Madtouched call Hedorah, mixed with fire, ash, and smoke, some say it created by ghosts within oil or coal originating from monsters that were angry at being removed from their resting place to create what would have been the world's first power plant, the birth of this creature halted any plans for an "industrial revolution" until studies could be finished, Reduced the countries between Feng Long and Sakura (including Trexia, the country it was "born" in) into a chemical wasteland in its battle with the Protector of Sakura, another Rank 20 monster where it was vanquished, Some believe it was Trexia's Guardian Beast Owldye, currupted [Author's Note: Basically half-Hedorah, half-Balrog]
Furry Stone Crabs: Rank 3; scavenger, monster version of hairy stone crab
Goblin (contested): Goblins are considered to be stuck in classification between monsters and races and as such, are often used as the dividing line between the two [cosmopolitan], all the brains go to the females
Hellhound: Rank varies; dog monster that uses fire magic, believed to be descended from Pyre Wolves [cosmopolitan]
Hyper-Venomous Manticore: Rank 6; a more dangerous relative of the Manticore, has three scorpion tails, [androphagos]
Ice Viper: Rank 4; a snake monster skilled in Ice Magic, native to the Frost Mountain Range
Imperial Lobster: Common (blue, brown, green mixture) and is Rank 3, Soldier (blue) are Rank 4, Knight (red) are Rank 5, Baron (calico) are Rank 6, Viscount (orange) are Rank 7, Count (yellow) are Rank 8, Marquis (split-colored) are Rank 9, Duke (orange and black) are Rank 10, Heir (albino) are Rank 11, Sovereign (cotton candy) are Rank 12; an unique social monster found in tropical waters, the rank of an individual is determined by its color, an individual's rank can change upon moulting, "promotion" or "demotion", size depends on age, ranging from the size of a cat to the size of a large dog
Kamaitachi: Rank 6; monster native to Sakura
Kraken: Rank 14; cephalopod monster who's range is still being studied
Lamia (contested): a female-only species that with the reproductive characteristics of a fictional species Madtouched call "New Mexico Whiptail", favorite food is humans and yet somehow, romance between a Lamia and a human sometimes develops
Manticore: Rank 4; a monster with the body of a lion, the tail of a scorpion and the head of a man, found in warm climates, [androphagos]
Mountain Cleaving Bear: Rank 3; a bear monster with foot-long claws, temperate climate
Nightmare Conch: Rank 7; a sea snail that has a shell made of Coralite and shoots an average of a dozen poisonous harpoons from its mouth
Parasitic Ivy: Rank Varies ; one of the few plant monsters that does not double as medicine
Pegasus: Rank 4-10; a flying horse [cosmopolitan]
Plague monster: Rank 14+; goes by different names depending on the language (Avis-Poulí: Aerico, Aerica pl.) Form varies more research needed
Poison Spiked Frogs: Rank 2; spikey frog, the poisonous spikes on its back are used for defense, live under Emerald Lily Pads
Protector of Sakura: Rank 20; shapeshifter identified by a Sakura petal mark found on its body, it has taken many forms such as a giant lizard, a giant turtle, a giant moth, a giant humanoid, etc... it actually doesn't care about the kingdom of Sakura, the people just decided to hide behind it from the giant monsters in the sea.
Pugilist Shrimp: Rank 8; monster version of a smasher type mantis shrimp; about the size of a dwarf
Pyre Wolf: Rank 3-7; a wolf monster skilled in use of flames
Ramidreju: Rank 4; a monster that resembles a serpentine weasel-like creature with green fur which radiates a healing aura that speeds up healing and it has an uncanny knack for finding buried treasure, native to the Continent of Fire but brought to the SOTA by sailors
Ruby King Crab: Rank 5-6; A crablike monster covered in spikes, one set of spikes resemble a crown, exoskeleton resembles rubies
Sea Serpent: Rank 10-14; an aquatic monster found throughout the oceans
Sickle Mantis: Rank 5; a mantis monster with partially serrated blades
Silverwing: Rank 4 with regular feathers, Rank 8 with complete set of silver feathers, Rank 16 with complete set of mythril feathers; raptor (bird) monster with blade like wings, everytime an individual moults, a few feathers are replaced with silver, once every feather has been replaced starting with the next moult the silver feathers will gradually be replaced with mythril feathers during each moult, has been known to attack/harass larger flying monsters but never ones weaker than them [cosmopolitan]
Soldier Crabs: Rank 3 on its own, Rank 5 in a group; a crustacean monster that uses weapons and armor made from the seashells of of mollusk monsters
Stone-Skinned Jackal: Rank 4; a monster that excels in defense
Tiny-Armed Sharp Teeth: minimum Rank 9; a huge, almost dragon-sized, lizard-like monster that can swallow a man whole and is known to be quite territorial, native to the Saurian Jungles of the Earth Continent and Forest of Fun Guys of Talamh Aisling
Unicorn: Rank Unknown; immunity to all poison, rarely seen, Rank is unknown because no one has ever been attacked by one, but numerous accounts exist of them holding their own against other monsters (especially those that are part lion) of various ranks [cosmopolitan]
Venomous Rat: Rank varies; semi-sapient, favorite food is dandelions
Violinist Crabs: Rank 3 by itself, Rank 5 if with other monsters; a musical crustacean monster that supports other monsters in battle
Warg: Rank depends on number; a large semi-intelligent wolf monster [cosmopolitan]
White Wyvern: Rank varies; a mute member of the dragon family and is native to the Frost Mountains range located in the southern part of the continent Talamh Aisling and northern part of the Continent of Water
Undead [Cosmopolitan]
Banshees: female ghosts with a deadly cry, watch over and protect their loved ones that are among the living
Draugr: zombie made from a corpse of a fallen "warrior"
Dullahan: a headless undead rider and its mount, can exhibit abilities of other undead
Ghosts: incorporeal undead, many variations, usually have unfinished business that is keeping them from passing on
Ghouls: Undead corpse that eats human flesh
Liches (contested): undead magic user
Mummy: undead created from a well-preserved corpse
Phantoms: kleptomaniac version of ghosts, have a taste for doing things with a flair
Revenant: corpse possessed by a ghost
Skeletons: pesky undead that can only be defeated by blunt force
Shade: murderous ghost
Specter: ghost with an aura
Vampires (contested): nocturnal, become really pissed off if you try to kill them with sunlight (not only does it not work but the opponent may be subjected to lecture on stereotypes if they are lucky)
Wights: Skeletons possessed by their own ghosts
Wraiths: ghost that has lost its sense of self
Zombies: Undead corpse
