After receiving the reddish-blue liquid from the messenger, his instincts already screamed it was a danger. But he could feel it contained great power, a power that could make him stronger. 

That's why he picked these three people; he tested the liquid on them. Based on the results, he then understood how it works.

The liquid is mixed with insect DNA, and then it will randomly give those who drink it power or traits. 

The power strengthens their overall body strength while giving them unique abilities and the capability to transform parts of their body into insect weapons.
