Skye Brown froze for two seconds, unsure whether to answer the phone.

Obviously, when a child is missing, you have to inform the parent; otherwise, how worried would the child's family be?

Perhaps the previous 100 missed calls had already told Dylan that no one would pick up, so after a few rings, he hung up.
