Chapter 42 — Ning Chen vs The Emperor Team.
Ning Chen went toward the training ground which was specially built for the Emperor Team. Arriving there, he saw everyone had already arrived along with an unfamiliar man.
He was a middle-aged man with ordinary appearance, neat black hair, simple and unadorned clothes, only his eyes were especially bright.
The man quickly noticed Ning Chen and looked at him.
"It's good that you've finally arrived, Ning Chen. I'm Qin Ming, the teacher supervising the Emperor Team. It's nice to meet you," Qin Ming said with a quite humble smile.
"It's also a pleasure to meet you," Ning Chen responded with a smile too. He felt that Qin Ming appeared to be humble compared to the other teachers with noble origins.
Yu Feng silently approached Ning Chen and then whispered something into his ears.
"Our teacher, Qin Ming is actually not a noble, but despite that, he's considered as a genius, being the youngest person to ever reach the spirit emperor rank at age 34."
Ning Chen was astonished and thought that maybe he could have a short spar with Qin Ming.
Ahem!
Qin Ming coughed lightly to get all of their attention and then instructed, "For today's training, we will first have a sparring session and it's Ning Chen versus all of you guys, so you all can learn each others fighting styles."
All of the Emperor Team were shocked except for Ning Chen who found this development interesting.
"Fighting against all of us? Even if Ning Chen is the strongest, he'll have a hard time winning against all of us," Yu Tianheng was puzzled at Qin Ming's instruction.
"Are you sure about?" Qin Ming asked before looking at Ning Chen, "Do you agree with I'm saying?"
"Yes, I'll agree to fight all of them," Ning Chen nodded.
Seeing Ning Chen accepting it, the others could only accept Qin Ming's instruction too.
"Okay, all of you get into your formation," Qin Ming said while clapping his palms together loudly.
The seven members of the emperor team agreed reluctantly while still feeling this was very unfair toward Ning Chen.
All of them soon entered a small battle arena and quickly formed into a 2-1-3-1 battle formation.
The Shi Brothers were at the very front and Yu Tianheng was standing behind them.
Dugu Yan was at the middle with Yu Feng and Osler standing at both of her sides. Xie Lingling was at the very back and just sat there to heal the others.
Ning Chen faced them all silently and calmly scanned them. He then furrowed his eyes after seeing Xie Lingling just sitting on the ground.
He find it unpleasant to see support system just completely relying on their teammates for protection when they could also do other things to make it easier for the others.
However, Ning Chen didn't uttered anything and thought it was because Xie Lingling was always told to act like this by the other people.
"You guys better fight at your full power since even all of you combine can't win against me if you fight lazily," Ning Chen mocked loudly and clearly to them.
It was a short test, to see if they could control their emotions under provocations.
In the Records Of Mind Sword that he learned from the sword dojo, the first record was to always assess everything and build the spirit before drawing the sword.
The second record was to always provoke the opponents to make them lose their composure.
The third record was to always remain calm and clear-headed.
The fourth record was to not throw away all emotions. Allow the various emotions and desires to compress within inside and let it sharpen the mind.
The Shi Brothers, Dugu Yan, and Osler grew irritated after being provoked by Ning Chen.
Yu Feng only felt that Ning Chen was joking and Xie Lingling still remained expressionless, looking like nothing will affect her.
Yu Tianheng still remained calm and wanted to first know about Ning Chen's ability since few was known about it.
Qin Ming stood at the side of the arena and sighed seeing his four students getting moody.
He raised his hand and then announced the sparring session start.
"Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon!"
A blue lightning symbol flashed across Yu Tianheng's forehead. The sleeves covering his right arm exploded into ashes as a blue bulky scales covered his entire arm that quickly transformed into a claw.
The Shi Brothers formed an immense dark-yellow tortoise shell around their body and Osler gaining the constitution of a black leopard.
Dugu Yan's lower body turned into something that looked like a snake tail and a green, beautiful apple flower emerged out from Xie Lingling's hand.
As for Yu Feng, a pair of large light brown wings which had sharp feathers that appeared to be hard and flexible.
All of their spirit rings appeared behind them, causing a heavy suppression force to descend over Ning Chen.
It was a suppression force created by 21 spirit rings.
Ning Chen felt his body growing heavier, but he just summoned Kel'al and held it at his waist.
Four spirit rings slowly appeared behind him in a sequence and were rotating in a unique formation that reinforced their already heavy presences.
Yellow, purple, purple and black.
The suppression force created by the Emperor Team quickly dissipated after Ning Chen's spirit rings were released.
The Emperor Team still felt amazed and surprised seeing Ning Chen's spirit rings again despite seeing it already in the past.
However, they only saw it briefly before as Yu Feng was quickly defeated by a sword strike that seemed to reduce everything into ashes.
The Shi Brothers were the first one to charge toward Ning Chen. Their tortoise shell glowing dimly as they charged toward Ning Chen like a cannon ball.
Ning Chen's eyes flashed in crimson color and unstoppable strength soon began to course through his veins.
A pure destructive power was needed to break a terrifying defense.
<Flame Stance: Reduce All Creation To Ash>
Ning Chen's sword started to release crimson scalding flames as he slowly unsheathed it, slashing horizontally toward the Shi Brothers.
Qin Ming widened his eyes after seeing the crimson flames created by Ning Chen.
Although the Emperor Team didn't seemed to know it, Ning Chen was definitely using sword intent!
The Shi Brothers started to sweat profusely as the flaming sword neared them. However, they didn't ran away from it and were confident in their defense.
Having confidence was good, but excessive amount of it was a poison.
Boom!
The Shi Brothers received the sword, but they quickly saw their tortoise shell melting under the flames of the sword.
They were horrified as the sword was slowly slashing deeper and it's heat was burning their flesh.
They were left with no other choices as their tortoise shell suddenly glowed brightly and abruptly exploded into countless sharp shrapnel.
Ning Chen clicked his tongue and wondered why the Shi Brothers were focusing in offensive abilities.
<Earth Stance: Guardian Domain>
A formless domain spread from Ning Chen and his senses spread everywhere. His pupils turning into a vertical slit that was glowing in brown color.
Ning Chen could now activate his instinct awakening without releasing any aura of it outside.
Ning Chen felt himself perceiving things slower as his senses heightened to its limit.
He then sensed someone flying above and saw Yu Feng, unleashing a rain of sharp feathers upon him.
<Two Color Dragon Mode>
Agility and Defense.
After awakening his Vigor, Ning Chen was able to constantly use this mode freely without worrying much about his energy consumption.
<External Spirit Bone: Sword Wings>
A large wings abruptly grew out from his back and Ning Chen started to block the shrapnel and as well Yu Feng's feathers.
His sword and wings supported and helped each other as they blocked and deflected everything.
The Emperor Team was quite surprised to see Ning Chen having the rare and most sought out external spirit bone, but they quickly thought it must have been given to Ning Chen by his clan.
They would have never expected this was something Ning Chen acquired by going through a life and death battle that even made him taste despair.
Ning Chen managed to completely block everything and his draconic eyes noticed Yu Tianheng approaching.
His draconic eyes quickly glowed in crimson and green colour. Ning Chen quickly sent the defenseless Shi Brothers out of the arena.
A poisonous fog then suddenly started spreading around the arena. It was created by Dugu Yan that only affected Ning Chen.
Ning Chen didn't have any poison resistance and he wasn't sure if his vigor and natural energy tempered body could perfectly adapt to the poison.
He decided to quickly fly toward the sky and charged at Yu Feng.
"Wind Stance: Scattering Wind Blossoms," Ning Chen suddenly scatted into many green blossoms that overwhelmed Yu Feng.
He continuesly thrusted his sword to attack Yu Feng from several directions with his body and sword completely hidden.
Yu Feng tried to avoid the sword thrusts, but it was all simply too unpredictable and fast, causing him to get struck at different spots.
Thankfully, there was no blood or wounds appearing on Yu Feng's body because Ning Chen made his sword's edge duller with the use of his spirit power, but it was still a painful sensation to Yu Feng.
Ning Chen reappeared in front of the helpless Yu Feng while grinning widely, but then suddenly noticed a green light covering Yu Feng, healing all of his bruise.
He looked toward Xie Lingling and pouted at her.
"You—!" Yu Feng glared at Ning Chen because this was also the same move Ning Chen used at the combat test to defeat him.
"Swallow Reversal!" Yu Feng activated his second ability and his large wings spread widely.
His speed increased greatly, his wings hardening like steel and also extremely sharp.
Yu Feng charged fiercely at Ning Chen and attacked him at three different kinds of angles. His speed was blinding and his sharp wings was enough to cleanly slice through steel.
He was certainly fast, but not fast enough since Ning Chen was able to block her two instant attacks with his sword and the last impact with his durable scales and sturdy body.
Ning Chen found Yu Feng focusing too much on power, neglecting his greatest strength which was his formidable speed.
"It was a good move, but a shame that you're not fast enough. Next time, don't just focus on power and train your speed properly. Extreme speed will also bring strong power," Ning Chen said with a smile and slashed his sword toward Yu Feng.
Yu Feng was angry hearing that, but the sword soon hit him, causing his wings to deactivate and he started falling toward the ground.
"Oh my bad," Ning Chen quickly flew toward Yu Feng and carried him like a princess.
Yu Feng was startled, but felt embarrassed while within Ning Chen's embrace. His face couldn't help but reddened as Ning Chen's muscular arms held his small waist firmly.
However, he soon grew angry again after Ning Chen dropped him outside the arena roughly.
The poisonous fog was already gone and Ning Chen saw Osler charging toward him.
"Sit Upon The Frozen Heaven," His draconic eyes glowed icily.
An enormous ice dragon soon emerged from the tip of his sword and roared deeply.
Osler was frozen in shock, feeling the terrifying dragon aura of the ice dragon. It soon crashed toward him, sending him flying out of the arena.
The only people left were Yu Tianheng, Dugu Yan, and Xie Lingling.
Ning Chen didn't worry about the two girls since they were both support system with Dugu Yan only being able to create poisonous fog.
He was instead interested on fighting Yu Tianheng, the leader of the emperor team and the only true attack-power system.
The two of them faced together and the solemn atmosphere grew slowly.
Yu Tianheng was feeling complicated after seeing four of his teammates already being defeated by Ning Chen.
He wasn't confident on defeating Ning Chen all alone, but there were still Dugu Yan and Xie Lingling.
Yu Tianheng gestured Dugu Yan to give him a buff and told Xie Lingling to heal him whenever he got injured.
He then faced Ning Chen and decided to immediately go full power.
"Instinct Awakening: Blue Tyrant!" Yu Tianheng's pupil turned into a vertical slit and his draconic eyes flashed with blue lightning.
The blue lightning surrounding his right draconic claw grew denser and brighter.
The dragon aura radiating from his draconic claws also grew more powerful.
Ning Chen quickly noticed Yu Tianheng awakening his dragon instinct.
Ning Chen's own dragon instinct was reacting to Yu Tianheng and it was also the same for him.
Their draconic eyes stared at each other and it was at this moment that they knew this was a battle of dragons. A battle of supremacy.
"Thunder Claw!" Yu Tianheng's draconic claws formed a huge and dense thunder claw.
He rushed toward Ning Chen and his thunder claw thrusting toward his chest.
<Earth Stance: Guardian Domain>
Ning Chen became one with the boundless earth and he blocked the thunder claw with his stone-covered sword.
Boom!
The thunder claw and brown sword clashed with each other, causing lightning to spread to the air and crackled deafeningly.
Yu Tianheng had thought his lightning should have already travelled inside Ning Chen's body, but he was surprised to see him looking well.
Ning Chen smiled seeing his expression. His sword wasn't made of steel, but crystal and the earth element was a great counter against lightning.
His draconic eyes glowed with crimson color and he raised his sword, slashing it downward toward Yu Tianheng.
Yu Tianheng quickly blocked with his draconic claw, but even it's scales couldn't endure Ning Chen's power.
The scales shattered and the sword cut his flesh.
Yu Tianheng didn't feel any pain because his nerves were numb by Dugu Yan, but he quickly retreated.
Xie Lingling soon healed him and the cut on his arm fading away.
A poisonous fog soon started to spread across the arena once again.
Ning Chen stares at Dugu Yan and pointed his sword toward her.
"Sit Upon The Frozen Heaven!"
An enormous ice dragon was released from the tip of his sword, roaring loudly as it charged toward Dugu Yan.
"No you won't!" Yu Tianheng leaped toward the ice dragon, his draconic arm transforming into a thunder claw.
However, the ice dragon suddenly seemed to become alive as it's whole body suddenly ascended to avoid Yu Tianheng.
Ning Chen was controlling the movement of the ice dragon through his precise control.
The ice dragon reached the sky and soon descended down quickly, devouring Dugu Yan and sending her flying out of the arena.
She was slightly injured with her lower body completely frozen.
"Yan!" Yu Tianheng grew extremely angry after seeing Dugu Yan getting injured and roared loudly.
"Thunder Fury!" A large amount of lightning covered his whole body.
It crackled extremely loudly as it responded to his own anger.
Yu Tianheng soon charged fiercely toward Ning Chen while leaving a blue lightning trail behind him.
After getting close to him, Yu Tianheng pounded his fist forward to the air.
"Thunder Crash!" Yu Tianheng roared as the accumulated lightning suddenly gathered into his fist, transforming into an extremely concentrated thunder strike.
The thunder strike charged toward Ning Chen and turned into a lightning dragon.
<Flame Stance: Reduce All Creation To Ash>
Ning Chen shook his head and his sword soon transformed into a flowing flame like blade. He slowly drew it out from it's scabbard.
A clash between strength.
Ning Chen's destructive power against Yu Tianheng's penetrating power.
"Game over," Ning Chen muttered quietly and a blinding light exploded from his place.
A terrifying heat was released from his sword and it cleaved the lightning dragon into two instantly without any resistance.
His sword didn't stopped moving and transformed into a fiery sword arc that rushed toward Yu Tianheng.
Boom!
Yu Tianheng was hit by the fiery sword arc and his clothes was reduced to ashes as the shockwave made him fly out the arena.
Ning Chen then looked at Xie Lingling who was the only remaining person. He smiled and slowly walked toward her.
Her expression didn't change as he approached.
Ning Chen crouched before Xie Lingling and then smiled lightly.
Xie Lingling looked at Ning Chen's bright smile and her expressionless face showed some changes.
She felt her heart beating rapidly for some reason.
"Time to sleep," He whispered gently into her ears.
Flick!
Ning Chen then flicked her forehead with his finger, sending a stream of spiritual force to knock her out.
Xie Lingling soon fell asleep and fell toward ground.
Qin Ming quietly stared at Ning Chen and although he had somewhat expected for him to win, he didn't imagined him completely dominating the Emperor Team...
It almost felt like Ning Chen was just toying with them...
Ning Chen vs The Emperor Team.
The final result was Ning Chen's overwhelmingly victory.

I've also thinking of kinda posting some chapters to the naruto fanfic I did because I left it at a cliffhanger lol.
I had said about posting two short chapters, but forget that. I posted two chapters which are long. This is almost 3k, needing just 50 more words.
