Chapter 29: The Beginning of the Journey pt6
On his way to school, Alduin stopped by Sovngarde to visit his reborn fellow tribesman, or rather, tribeswoman.
"Alduin Thuri!" greeted Walburga.
"Drem Yol Lok, Kreinzulfen" replied Alduin. "How are you doing?"
"I was able to sort out my memories, Thuri. But it's strange to be in the body of a two-legged joor (mortal) and not be able to speak our language. I apologize, Thuri."
"Now that you've sorted out your memories, can you use this?" Alduin asked, handing Walburga a music player.
"Yes, Thuri. Before you restored my soul, I was able... able to use it and understand this language of mortals" said Walburga, pointing to the notes.
"Then I want you to be able to sing all these mortal songs written on the notes, keeping up with the rhythm" Alduin said. "I too was reborn in the body of a mortal but was able to regain my Dovah powers. I'm offering you the shortest path. You have until tonight."
"It shall be done, Thuri. Milord, I wanted to inform you. We shouldn't use our real names..."
"I know about the possibility of a mage subjugating a supernatural being by knowing its true name. I don't think anyone has the power to subjugate a Dovah's mind though, but extra caution won't hurt. We are few, and the souls of our brothers are defenceless, so in the mortal world, we'll use the names of our mortal shells."
"Understood, Thuri."
"Tonight, I'll see your progress, and if I find it sufficient, I'll teach you how to take your true form. Do not disappoint me" Alduin said, bidding farewell to Walburga and returning to Tamriel.
All day long, Alduin drew portraits of Hermaeus Mora in his notebook, ignoring the cautious glances of Koneko Toujou. Hermaeus turned out even better than he had been in reality, and after a little thought, he was about to sell the drawing of the cluster of tentacles to the manga drawing club when the vice-captain of the kendo club, Shina Katase, caught him in the hallway.
"Tatsumi, can I talk to you for a moment?" asked Katase, blocking the boy's path.
"If you were sent by Muruyama, my answer is still the same. I won't join the club" Tatsumi replied. "But we can talk for a moment."
"Let's go" said the girl, pointing in the direction of the karate club's dojo.
After a few minutes of walking in silence Alduin asked
"I'm even afraid to ask, why did you lead me into the bushes?"
"Um... I heard from your brother that you play Silmarillion?"
"Well... yeah."
"Muruyama and I decided to have a get-together during the next raid on Ancalagon, and we decided to invite you. It will be easier to communicate in person during the raid than through Discord."
"What makes you think we'll be in the same party?" Alduin asked, raising his left eyebrow.
"Well... we found out your gaming nickname from Issei, and it turns out that you always run with us in the same party" answered Katase.
"Hangov? Carnifex?"
"Lancer. Carnifex is Muruyama."
"What a surprise. Why didn't she say anything before? It was all blah-blah, club, blah-blah" grumbled Alduin, taking out his phone. "Can I get your number?"
"Of course" Katase smiled, pulling out her phone.
After saying goodbye to Tatsumi, Katase stood in place for a moment before Muruyama approached her.
"How did everything go?" Muruyama asked.
"Better than you did" Katase replied.
"And how is that?"
"I don't feel any auras. Are you sure you regained that ability after talking to him?"
"Yes"
"Then it seems that he has nothing to do with our recovery." Katase said thoughtfully
"Hmm" Muruyama pondered, "Well, it's expected that I would recover faster than you. I was stronger than you even before the fall."
"Don't be sarcastic. I feel sick enough already." Katase replied, with a hint of annoyance in her voice.
