Chapter 2: Chapter I : Invite

My name is Alexander Angel, and I am a third-year high school street racer. Well, I know that street racing is dangerous, but adrenaline is in my blood. But it all started when I was little, when I was 4 years old.

My father was fascinated with vintage cars, Formula 1 and Nascar racing. He had a miniature collection of vintage cars. But your favorite ... It was not one, but three; Dodge Charger R / T, Impala 67 and Camaro SS 68. They were the ones he had dreamed of the most.

My mother was in love with my father, even though he found his taste in collecting automotive miniatures strange.

— Son! — my father calls me from the kitchen. — Come see what I bought.

I get up and run over to him, while carefully placing my PlayStation control on my bed.

As I leave the garage, I find my mom and dad hugging each other, smiling at each other.

— What... ? — I interrupted when I saw that machine parked in front of our house.

— You did it, love! — said my mother giving kisses to my father. - Made your dream come true.

— Yeah, I did it! — he confirms.

— I can't believe what I'm seeing. — I say, my eyes shining when I see that beauty. — It's the Impala you dreamed of, isn't it, dad?

— Yes it is, son! — He says and crouches in front of me, ruffling my hair. — In the future, you will have your classic.

— A Camaro SS 68? — I question, happiness invading my chest.

— Who knows? — He shakes his shoulders. — Actually, I already knew I would choose this one.

— Oh really?

— Yes — he confirms. — And I already ordered it for you, on your eighteenth birthday.

— Wow, how wonderful, dear! — Says my mother.

Today, at the age of 18 and about to finish high school, I run through the streets against other runners, but being very careful that I don't have the car seized by the police, or suffer an accident while I'm speeding.

My cell phone rings and I answer it.

— Speak Kleber! — I say a little exhausted from studying so much for the exam that would take place in three days.

— Hey, man! — he exclaims with his carioca way. — Let's take a crack? — He invites me.

— Ah, you know I can't — I reject your invitation. — I have proof in three days. I can't fool around. Otherwise I dance, you know? — I explained to him.

— Ah, I got it, bro — he looks kind of upset. But soon his spirits return. — Am I going to call Vitinho then? — he warns.

— Sure, call him,— I confirm. — He hasn't run with you in a while.

— Oh yeah, believe me — says Kleber. — So, I'm going for it. You said it, man.

— You did — I hang up the phone and go back to studying.

I returned to focus on my notebook that was in front of me to not go wrong in the Physics exam.

3 DAYS LATER...

After the proof, I was anxious to be able to get my car and pass Hector's house so we could go to Pedro's house.

I got into my Camaro SS 68 and started it. I see Barbara approach the window and lower the glass.

— Listen, Aleh — she says. — Well... my friend is interested in you...

— Or in my car? — I asked, showing her a smile.

— Well... I don't know, — she laughed.

— Listen Babi — I say — see if you ask her not to piss me off, ok?

— But... why are you saying that? — She asks.

— I already have a girl I want to conquer — I replied and winked at her.

— Oh yes? - she smile. — And who would that lucky girl be?

— Soon you will know — I replied and smiled. — I'm going now. See you.

I stepped on the gas and pulled out of the school parking lot. In the rearview mirror, I noticed that she waved goodbye to me. I smiled because I always liked her.

I was running at 60 an hour, taking care not to have an accident and run over anyone.

I stop at the red light and my phone rings.

— I'm on my way, — I tell Hector.

— Change of plans — he announces. — We are going to have a party in Copacabana.

— What? A party? — I asked, trying to understand what he meant by "party". I stop the car for a while.

— Yes, we will call several of our companions — he warns. — Kleber, Carlos, Miguel.

— Okay, but what about Pedro? — I ask.

— He's also on the list.

— Okay, but if it's going to be a party, shouldn't it involve girls? — I question.

— Obviously there will be girls, right, oh big head! — he says and I laugh.

— Right — I say. — What time will the party take place?

— Well, I'll call you and let you know the exact location of Copacabana.

— Right. But it doesn't make a hole, okay? — I said.

— Relax, bro — he confirms. — Stay in peace, okay? See you.

I hang up the phone and put it in the glove compartment of the car, and start walking again.

Arriving home I find my mother watching her favorite soap opera. I was so focused that when I called her, she was startled.

— Oh, what a scare, Alex! — she says, putting her hand on her chest.

— Hi son! — my father welcomes me with a hug. — How was your class today?

— Look, I think I did well in the test — I answer, placing my foot on the first step of the stairs. - I'm going to lie down and later I'm going out, okay?

— Where are you going later? — my mother asks, curious to know where I would go later.

— Hector is going to Copacabana, and we're going to have a party. - I explain.

— This is dangerous, — says my father. — You know that the police can interrupt the party and send you and your gang to the clink, don't you?

— Yes, I know, Father, — I replied. — But nothing will happen. We will be at a point where the noise of the music does not attract much attention.

— Son — my father approaches me. Put your hand on my shoulder. — God protect you.

— Thanks Dad. — I hug him.

My father is now 49 and my mother 45.

I went up to my room.

— Will he be all right, Israel? — my mom asks my dad.

— We have to have faith in our son, Carmen — my father kisses my mother's forehead.

When I got to the room, I deposited my backpack on my computer table and lay down on my bed. I closed my eyes and slept a little.

Later, I wake up to an irritating noise, followed by a loud beat.

I open my eyes and go to the door.

— Hector is there, waiting for you, — announces my father.

— I'm on my way, — I say, running a hand through my hair, a little sleepy.

— I think it's best to take a shower, — suggests my father, leaving the room. - Driving in these conditions... is not a good idea.

— You're right, — I say, and close the door after he's gone.

I choose a nice outfit to be able to have fun.

I chose dark blue jeans and a red polo shirt.

I go down to the bathroom with a towel in one hand and clothes in the other. I close the bathroom door, turn on the shower and take off my clothes.

After the shower, I had already changed. I go up to the room again while my dad warned Hector that I was leaving.

I take my Malbec and put it on my chest and neck. The aroma of this perfume is very good. Many girls looked at me when I passed them, giving off this sweet odor.

I go down again and say goodbye to my parents.

— Bye dad! Bye mom! — shout.

— Hey, wait! — says my mother, running with short steps towards me. — Where's my kiss, son?

I kiss my mom on the cheek.

— Go with God, boy. May he protect you. — Says my father.

"Mother, father, you stay with God," I told them. - Also, I'm not leaving.

— Take here — my father hands me a necklace that I didn't recognize immediately.

— Come on, Alex! — Cries Hector, looking impatient.

— I'm going! I shout back. — I'm going to this father. Mom! — I hug her.

I leave and leave them watching me take my car keys from my pocket.

— Are you sure you can follow me? — Hector joked.

— Look, my Camaro is a good car, boy! — I say laughing with him.

I take my car out of the garage and get into it.

— Can go. I close the garage.

— Thanks, Dad. — I closed my hand into a fist, and he did the same. We beat our fists goodbye.

— See you later.

— Up until.

I started and followed him.
