Chapter 7: 7. Injured Intensity

I couldn't help but smile as I placed the three rabbits on the table inside the cabin. I had hunted and killed three rabbits, which would provide me with enough food to last a while.

I decided to use the Dream Predator skill on each of them individually. The dreams of the first two rabbits were similar, depicting their daily routines of eating and fleeing predators.

The last rabbit's dream, however, was different. It had become more intense, more vivid. It showed the rabbit hunting other animals and leading a group of other rabbits. It was clear that this rabbit was an elite among its kind.

As the dream was sucked into my body, I felt a surge of energy, and I could feel my attributes growing. I checked my status window and saw that my Strength, Agility, and Vitality had increased by 3 points each, and my Intelligence and Dexterity had increased by 1 point each. "Leadership" was another new skill I learned.

Several Days Later.

After some time had passed, I found myself in the presence of a group of rabbits. There are a total of six of them. I activated my leveled-up <Stealth> skill and felt myself blending into my surroundings. I also activated my newly leveled Agility Enhancement ability.

I looked around the group of rabbits and noticed two Elite Rabbits among them. I knew that eliminating these two would be critical to eliminating the entire group.

I crept around the group, pulling out my handmade throwing knives and hurling them at the Elite Rabbits. My aim wasn't great, and I only grazed one and injured the other.

"Tch," I clicked my tongue, still not proficient enough.

The Elite Rabbits yelled and directed the other rabbits to attack me. I sneered, knowing that my Stealth skill had improved and that normal rabbits would be unable to detect me unless they were extremely close

I took advantage of the situation by kiting around the group, taking them out one by one. As I finished off the final rabbit, my gaze was drawn to the injured Elite Rabbit, who was just hanging on. The other Elite Rabbit attempted an attack on me, but I was prepared. I shifted my weight and smacked my elbow into the rabbit, knocking it into a neighboring tree.

After dispatching Elite Rabbit, I took up my throwing knives and despatched the wounded rabbit with one more throw.

I got a tingling feeling at the back of my skull as I was ready to place all of the rabbits in my inventory. I roll to the side, trusting my instincts, and avoid the claw that was about to take my head off. I swiftly rose to my feet and prepared for the next assault.

Then I saw it was a wolf, but it looked injured. Its back was scratched, and it was limping, but it was still faster than me. I quickly checked the Map function, scanning the area for any other enemies. After checking the Map, I sighed with relief, seeing no other enemies nearby. It looked like this wolf had been kicked out of its pack or its pack had been killed and it had managed to escape.

But it wasn't the best of conditions because I had lost the element of surprise and didn't know if I would be able to kill the wolf or not. I realized that I had to be careful and think of a strategy to take it down.

As I was thinking of a way to kill it, the wolf attacked me again. I rolled to my side and threw my knife at it, but it hit the mark and barely injured the wolf. Its hide was too thick for my knife to do significant damage. I took a deep breath to calm myself. It didn't look good for me.

The wolf attacked me once more, but this time I was prepared. As it lunged at me, I aligned myself with a tree, and its claw got stuck in the tree. But it wouldn't be stuck for long. Luckily, I didn't need that long.

I threw my other knife at the wound on its back and hacked at its legs with "The Hunter" knife. Even though I couldn't completely cut them off, I inflicted more damage on them, and it was no longer faster than me.

But now it turns around and starts running, and I follow it because I couldn't let go of the easy kill that had fallen into my lap. I was able to easily follow it because it was injured and I was faster. As I got closer, it suddenly turned around and tried to bite me.

I tried to pivot my feet, but at this speed, I stumbled, and the wolf lunged at me. I shifted my weight to the right quickly and stabbed my knife into its eye, using it as a makeshift handle. The wolf howled in agony as it thrashed around, trying to shake me off.

I knew I needed to finish it quickly, so I took out my throwing knives and started hacking and stabbing at the wolf's body. It took all of my strength and skill, but the wolf eventually lay still on the ground.

As I caught my breath, I heard the familiar notification sound.

<The enemy was successfully eliminated. Earned +1000 experience points.>

<Level Up!>

I looked down at my bruised and battered body from the fight. My clothes were ripped and had more holes than I could count. But I didn't care because I had won. I put the wolf in my inventory, too tired to even look at my newly leveled-up stats.

I decided to call it a day and headed back to the cabin, eager to rest and heal my wounds.
