Chapter 49: Du Yimo

The following day, a fracas ensued across the Lin Manor as two critical pieces of news rocked the minds of everyone. First, they heard about Donghai Lin's decision to leave the family by today. Next, was about the Xue Alchemy Union sending a Tier-3 alchemist to examine Donghai Lin's eyes and to elucidate the rumor regarding his colorblindness.

As a result, everyone came gathering toward Lin Han's quarters. A few of them came wishing for his journey whereas most came here to watch the drama as they were fascinated long ago by all the stunts pulled out by Donghai Lin.

Inside the mansion, Donghai Lin had already packed up all of his things and he was ready to set for his voyage.

But the only thing he was not was because he was waiting for the arrival of the Alchemist.

Donghai Lin came out of the mansion while carrying the twin with him in each arm.

Maids and servants followed behind carrying multiple white small bundles. They loaded over the gray mules back.

Donghai Lin's parents, Xuan Xuan and Lin Han also came rushing after him.

His father was calm as he had always been whereas anxiousness was written all over his mother's face.

"Does Dong Er need this so-called Tier-3 Alchemist to examine his eyes? For all I know, he is totally fine, and… and um, I feel like the thing that has happened to Yi Er is happening to Dong Er again." Xuan Xuan asked her husband. And then she further added, "Dear, can you stop this?"

Lin Han shook his head and responded with an awkward smile plastered over his face, "Sorry, I can't. The rumor this time is so big that this order came from the two Imperial envoys of our Xue Prefecture. Even the father's hands are tight this time since the envoys mention it would hurt our family's reputation and hinder Dong Er's future. And in addition, they recommended going through this process. Only Dong Er has the final say to go through this examination or not. If he agreed to forfeit from becoming the future Patriarch, then he can pass this test."

As Xuan Xuan heard his words, she felt even more worried as she remembered the exact words her first son had told her before he left.

On seeing her murky face, little Donghai Lin placed the twin to stand on the ground, approached, held her hands, and said, beaming, "Don't you worry, ma. I don't have any intention of becoming the future Patriarch."

"No, Dong Er, your Grandpa has invested so much in you. This will put us in an awkward position." Xuan Xuan responded and then she muttered under her breath, " Yet, I don't want to repeat the same mistake your Dage made before."

"Xuan Er, you are overthinking it again. If Dong Er has made this decision then, I'll not allow anyone from the Alchemy Union to be six feet near Dong Er." Lin Han said with a determined tone.

"But what about that decision coming from the two Imperial Envoys?" Xuan Xuan asked once again.

"Hmph!" Lin Han snorted and then he responded, "They are just two small fries. Even if the Han Emperor were to come here, I'll not let him six feet near Dong Er."

"As if you can, hahaha!" Xuan Xuan burst into a peal of hearty laughter and said, "You get me there. That is one really funny joke I have ever heard from you. But, husband, don't you ever rant that word ever again. This would bring a lot of trouble for our Lin family."

"Hmm, I'm just stating a fact here." Lin Han said with a sincere tone. But this made Xuan Xuan reach his hand out and pinched his waist.

But the former folded his arm around her dainty waist and said with a grin, "Alright, Dong Er, if that is your decision then you can start your journey. There is no need for you to wait for those nuisances."

'Hmm, pa seems to be so confident with his words. But I need to check something before I go.' Donghai Lin wondered in his head.

Then he asked, "Ma, what exactly happened to my Dage that you mentioned earlier?"

Xuan Xuan and Lin Han glanced at each other meaningfully once. And just as she was about to open her mouth, Lin Han responded,

Later it was found out about his Heavenly Dual Pupils' eyes."

He then clenched his hands tightly and said after taking a deep breath, "Making him leave us when he is just three years old. This is all my fault.

If only I was there at that time then, I would not let anyone near him."

At that moment, a commotion broke out in the crowd as a group of noble-looking men entered Lin Han's quarter.

Donghai Lin scanned that direction and saw a scrawny old man with a purple Daoist Robe heading his way under the guidance of his three uncles. It seemed they were fawning over the old man in the batch of Tier-3 Alchemists that had pictures of green, red, and purple pills on it.

"Du Yimu! It's him." Xuan Xuan blurted out.

Then the next thing, Donghai Lin felt a sharp killing intent directed toward the old man and disappeared in the next instant as if there was none from the very beginning.

He then glanced at his father and saw the glint of malice in his eyes.

Therefore, Donghai Lin approached him, held his both hands, and said, "Pa, calm down. If this is the guy that examined my Dage then leaves everything to me." Then he glanced at the Old man and further added, "Because I'm going to take care of him myself."

"Venerend Du, please, this way. Oh, that is my nephew Lin Donghai." Lin Zhou, the first Uncle said, pointing at little Donghai Lin.

Then they strolled toward Donghai Lin.

Just as they were about to reach, a loud voice chimed in the surroundings while stopping everyone, "Stop there!"

Old Patriarch Lin Ren along with the lanky Daoist Chu Yin sauntered toward them.

Just as they passed, Du Yimu cupped his hand and greeted, "Greetings, Patriarch Lin Ren. It's my pleasure to see you again."

But Patriarch Lin Ren didn't reciprocate as he passed by him without even batting an eye on him.

Patriarch Lin Ren was all smiles as he was before Donghai Lin.

"Dong Er, are you ready for your journey?..... Grandpa's at fault this time. Take this as my apology for making you pull into this mess." He said while sighing and then he pulled out another silver white space ring from inside his pocket and tossed it at him.

There was jealousy in the crowd as they looked at the silver-white space ring, making another commotion among them.

Donghai Lin caught it from the air and reacted with a jovial smile in response to his apology.

Seeing that, Patriarch Lin Ren beamed even more. Then, he turned around and bellowed at the top of his lunge, "Du Yimo, why are you here in my Lin Manor again? Do you have a death wish?"
