Her initial burst of emotions is a mix of anxiety about his feelings for her possibly having waned, grief about her family, as well as overall stress. XD
And no, he did not use Ye Ling as a substitute for Wu Mengqi, although they do indeed look quite alike. Since she knew that they looked alike before even developing any feelings for him. And he fell in love much later, recognizing her as a separate person. But it was true that it was that likeness that brought the initial impulse to listen to her in him when he was in his soulless state.
