Chapter 114: Underworld & Heaven II

The Sixth Heaven, Home of the Four Great Seraphs.

High above the clouds in the Heaven dimension at the sixth level; there was a gigantic golden gate, and past it, an immense palace floated in the beautiful light clouds. At one of the courtyards of this palace, there was a beautiful blonde lady with golden armour, her twelve wings sprawled freely, she was a delightful Archangel.

Her blue eyes fixed in the skies longingly, as if waiting for something to suddenly pop up and take her away, sadly... such a thing wouldn't happen today.

"Gabriel?"

Beside her, a light magic circle formed from which a man of equally blond hair appeared, the Archangel Michael, the current leader of the heavens; he called for her sister with worry, noticing that she had been standing there for several days now, in that same position.

"I'm sorry brother, I was just distracted…" Gabriel focused her attention on the newcomer with a half-hearted smile.

"Is it about the Golden Dragon?" He questioned immediately.

"Yes, I just… didn't think he'd ever come here, Lady Calliope never said he would."

"Do you think he would recognise you?"

At the inquiry of the archangel, Gabriel frowned as slight tears began to form at the edges of her eyelids; she had a clear answer to that question.

"He won't. It has been so long... moreover, in front of him in that golden world I was nothing short of insignificant".

"Don't be so hard on yourself, Gabriel... back then, the system wouldn't have allowed you to perform that task, it couldn't be helped" Michael patted his sister's head, he had heard her whole story and despite it having been more than six hundred years ago, he still recalled every bit of it coming from her sorrowful mouth.

A story about a beautiful golden angel summoned to another world to perform a task she was unable to perform; only to end up falling in love with a Golden Dragon. But, unable to accomplish the mission she surrendered.

The Golden Angel returned to her world with a broken heart.

Gabriel couldn't help but hug her brother as she sobbed.

"Brother… it is just, even if for a second I'd like to speak to him again" she expressed her desire and Michael felt troubled about the situation.

"The Brave Saints have gathered information; it says that his position is unknown, after the event in the dimensional gap; he went into hiding together with his mate. If it will make you feel better… I wouldn't mind paying the underworld a visit. We're supposed to hold one together with Grigori soon enough, it is just... this meeting might end up taking place in Japan instead, I can't assure his presence there"

Michael was wholeheartedly supportive of his sister's feelings, Angels were not supposed to love, and that was according to the system. Any such love would be penalised as the sin of 'lust' and the angel would fall from grace, becoming a fallen angel.

From the beginning his sister was sent to a task she was unable to accomplish, but it was only after Lady Calliope ascended to the heavens that everything became clear, it had been her all along. The moment the system changed, Gabriel's feelings sprouted like a lotus flower. Alas, the object of her affection was missing, sending her into a cycle of grief and regret, hoping that one day she'd be chosen to take on this task again, but it never happened.

Instead, Lady Calliope's presence in this universe only meant one thing for Gabriel.

Someone else had accomplished the task and it wasn't until now that she realised that the individual to have done so was a quite infamous devil, Grayfia Lucifuge.

What was more astonishing was that she brought along the Golden Dragon, something that according to Lady Calliope, wasn't supposed to happen.

Headquarters of Grigori.

At a round table several cadres were having a meeting, leaders of the fallen angel faction, unsurprisingly, also divided by those who wholeheartedly hated the devils, and also... those who were neutral, the side which the Fallen Angel leader of Grigori, Azazel; belonged to.

As for the side that liked the devils, such a side didn't exist.

"Kokabiel is gone..." A man with closed eyes had his hands together in a grim position, clearly troubled.

"What about his group, were they with him, Baraqiel?" Azazel inquired, sitting lazily on his chair as if he wanted to get this over with.

"Everyone is gone, none of them has come back to report themselves after the incident; they were together with some members of the devil supremacy faction, all gone... to think the destruction would be so great".

"The vampires and the gods... despite the dragon's humongous power, I doubt they will remain hands-tied... the situation is so tense that any movement could be devastating, it is better if we wait for someone else to make the first move" Another one of the generals, Shemhazai, spoke.

"Who do you think that will be? in this cluster of chaos who do you think would benefit the most, the fallen god faction?" Azazel spoke simple words that made all the cadres in the room look at each other and sigh.

"Ares... with the world on the brink of war, he would be the one that should make a move, the breach of the peace is as simple as triggering the golden dragon, so far... his only reverse scale is not someone we can touch, Grayfia Lucifuge... that woman was able to defeat Sirzechs Lucifer; it is not someone we can easily trigger, Ares should have this information as well."

"Then?"

"Can't we rip off his actions as well?~ it will cause chaos among the devils, it is our perfect opportunity to-"

*BANG!*

"The devils are not our enemies, Shemhazai!" Azazel banged his fist on the table, making his friend shut up and roll his eyes.

"Tch!" Shemhazai stood up -irritated- and departed the room, leaving a solemn atmosphere in the room.

"How truly troublesome... the devils should be holding a meeting in Lucifaad soon, keep the agents of Slash/Dog stand by Azazel..." The chief secretary of Grigori, Penemue, considered the meeting as good as finished and departed, she was from the side that despised the devils.

One by one the cadres began to depart the room, leaving Azazel on his own, the cadre opened a bottle of wine and began drinking on its own in this room.

"What to do...? damned Golden Dragon, coming to mess up the hard-worked peace... all of Lady Calliope's work, for nothing..." He took a big chunk of wine and exhaled, waving his hair aside. Another day in which he would waste himself in Alcohol, trying to recall the angel that made him fall out of grace due to lust, Gabriel.
