Chapter 47: Baguette

*tap* *tap* *tap* The blank surroundings became darker the further I walked down this road. Usually I wouldn't be here unless I went to sleep.

I'm starting to remember more and more, not like I have a choice in the matter.

*tap* *tap* *tap*

Well here I am again. On this wide golden road that leads to a dead end.

Except the only difference this time is I'm here on my own volition.

*tap* *tap* tap*

I've begun to notice that I've been having relapses in my memory. Not my past memory, just normal day to day actions. Such as when Akeno ended up against the wall with me pressing into her.

However that wasn't the only time it's happened. It's been happening more lately, and at first I thought it was that golden bastard taking over. But the more that I thought about it, he wouldn't do that. It's not his style.

*tap* *tap* *tap*

So I've decided to come here myself. The only place he will ever reside.

The tapping sound of my bare feet disappeared as I stood still. Just meters away from the dead end.

Sitting at the edge of the shattered road, the back of a man I knew all too well. His formerly blonde hair had become pale white due to age.

His majestic robes tattered, perhaps it was due to the vicissitude of time.

Or perhaps it became like that at the end of our failure. Either way, he hasn't moved from that spot in a long time.

"Well, look who decided to finally show up." The voice didn't come from neither him nor myself.

"Who... are you?" I asked, staring up at the man who looked exactly like me. His smirk ticking me off for some reason.

"Don't recognize yourself? Well I guess you've been blinded by your own fear all this time, so I guess I can't blame you." The other me shook his head and chuckled.

"There should only be me and him here." I narrowed my eyes, pointing at the still seated man who hadn't reacted to either of us.

"That actually hurts considering I've been here nearly as long as you." He sneered at me. Man I never thought I'd be irked off by my own face.

"Wait... You're insane me!" I pointed at him in realization. This guy is me when I'm high or drunk!

"Insane? Heh... please, the only one insane here is the one who's afraid to accept who he truly is. But in a sense I guess you could say were all insane here." I glared at him before halting myself. Deep breaths, no point in getting pissed off for no reason.

"Looks like were all finally here." He closed his eyes with a smile before gesturing towards the seated man. "The failure who's become uncertain of his own path."

He moved his hand towards me next. "The coward who's too afraid to move forward."

finally moving his palm to his own chest. "And myself, the one who's unwilling to simply rot in the same place any longer."

"Before you end up waking up again, let me make this clear to you." He took a step forward as I subconsciously stepped back.

"Sooner or later, I plan on moving forward." He continued moving closer to me until he was right in front of my face.

"With or without you."

"Did you just throw a biscuit at me?" Kiba Yumi asked incredulously as she stared at the blonde mage named Gold Aversis.

"Oh I'm sorry, normally I'm quite receptive of random people coming into my house for whatever reason but right now I haven't even thought of a name for my company!" Gold complained stressed out. After spending the last few days thinking of a name for his business, he couldn't think of a single viable name that sounded good to him. It reminded him of when he played any online game and tried to think of a name that wasn't taken.

So it was no surprise that on the second day when the girl known as Kiba Yumi barged into his room, talking about teaching her how to handle holy power like Akemi; His body had decided to reflexively respond with throwing a biscuit that he was eating at her face. It came completely out of nowhere, so even with her speed she was unable to dodge the flying bread hitting her face.

"I decline because I'm busy... with work. By the original R.O.Bs that sounds so wrong coming from a retired guy." Gold facepalmed as he realized that he's getting into work despite being retired.

"Please, I need to get stronger!" Despite having bread randomly thrown at her face, Yumi still kneeled down with her head on the ground and begged.

"I already have a student, Aversis generally only take one student at a time. The only exception would be teaching their own children or lovers some things, but that's family." Gold rolled his eyes. It was true, Aversis generally don't teach more than one student with the exception of family and lovers.

"Then..." Yumi stood up hesitantly but her eyes turned resolute in determination as she moved towards Gold who was still chilling on his bean bag.

Since the start, Gold hadn't really paid much mind to her as he was mainly focused on thinking of possible names for his business. So he blinked in surprise as he wasn't expecting the female blonde devil to straddle his lap.

"If that's what it takes, then I'm willing to do anything..." Yumi spoke lowly as she leaned in closer to him.

Gold for the most part was in a dilemma. In normal cases, he welcomes casual sex. But he felt like he shouldn't get sidetracked as he wanted to focus on his current business project. So he decided to just reluctantly say no as he didn't want to get distracted.

"Look..." Gold was about to reject the free sex, however all of a sudden his eyes flickered a golden hue. "Why don't we take this to the bed?" Gold grinned, lifting the girl up by the waist as she yelped in surprise.

Dropping the girl onto the bedsheets, clothes were ripped and thrown on the ground. "You know, I could get used to seeing you like this." he mused as Yumi turned red from his sweet whispers.

However before it could continue, the light in his eyes dimmed out as he blinked in confusion. Realization of what just happened dawned in him, on one hand he was annoyed, but on the other hand he didn't feel like stopping anymore.

"Aeughhh~" Kiba Yumi's moaned as he nibbled on her nipple before moving to seal the deal.

Gold decided that perhaps it'd be best to let off some steam before getting back to business.

DAYS LATER

"Now behold! For this is a product that I have recently developed!"

Within a meeting room at Kyoto owned by the West Youkai Faction, Gold was standing in front of a group of Youkai working under Yasaka. Gold decided he needed connections and backers because starting up your own business was harder than he thought! The main reason he was allowed this presentation was because Yasaka approved of it out of good will.

"Um, Gold-san. That's just a piece of bread." One of the Tengu couldn't help but point out the item in the protagonist's hand.

"It's not just bread! It's a baguette!" The blonde retorted waving around the french bread in his grasp.

"But that's still bread..." someone else couldn't help but comment as Yasaka remained silent throughout the entire ordeal.

"Well it's special bread, you know what. You! Get up here I need an guinei pig-.... I mean assistant to display the greatness of this product!" Gold pointed at a random Dog looking Youkai.

The Dog headed Youkai jolted in surprise as he just wanted to remain silent during this whole thing. He turned to look at their leader Yasaka, only for her to nod, indicating that she wanted him to go with it. With a mental sigh, he resigned himself standing up and reluctantly trodded over to the obviously insane blonde.

"Excellent, I thank you for your cooperation!" Gold chirped happily.

"Um... So do I just eat it?" The Youkai tentatively asked pointing at the baguette.

"Of course not." Gold shook his head. "Just stand still." he said as he raised the baguette into the air before promptly smacking the Youkai right on his head.

"Gah! What was that fo-aaAAaaaaAAAHHH!" In front of everyone's gaze, the Youkai started screaming as his voice raised up a few octaves until he slipped backwards on his butt. The Dog Youkai's eyes enlarged as he stared into the ceiling as if he was seeing some shit.

"Just one smack is all it takes for the product to take effect! I call it, trippy bread!" Gold spoke with bubbling excitement despite the man tripping balls behind him.

"Lord Gold, I would just like to say that we cannot endorse any of your product." Yasaka finally spoke as every other Youkai around her sighed in relief. "As you know, I have a child and would not like her to come into contact with these kinds of things. I hope you understand my position." The Nine tailed fox slowly explained to the blonde that she was sort of fond of.

"Yeah, I guess you got a point." Gold sighed in disappointment as he picked up his baguette and slowly left out of the room, obviously moping in sadness.

No one got up to stop him. However no one got up to help their fellow Youkai who was obviously still seeing shit on the ground.

'Well that sucked.' I thought to myself as I slowly walked away from Yasaka's place.

Starting a business is harder than I thought it would be. But I guess it'd be stupid to think it would be easy. Damn, I could be chilling right now but I need a source of income to pay the bills.

"I miss my job as an Isekai Truck Driver." I muttered as it was a pretty nice job.

Definitely better than that time I worked in an office.

FLASHBACK

Within a building on the 15th floor, flames spread like wildfire, water sprayed out from broken pipes and the entire office floor was in shambles.

A blonde man with an automatic gun in his hand was slowly trudging towards his downed co-worker despite the blood dripping down his head.

"Next time there's a sandwich with someone's name on it, don't eat it scumbag!" Gold growled towards the suited man who was backing up in fear.

"Please you don't understand!" The man held his hand up hoping Gold would let him explain.

"Oh I understand." Gold narrowed his eyes. "That lunch didn't have your name on it, but this bullet does!" He aimed the gun forward and opened fire.

The man backed off away from the bullets and crashed out the window, falling towards the ground from the 15th floor. "MY NAME IS GOLD TOO!!!" The co worker yelled out indignantly as he fell towards his death next to a bunch of police vehicles.

BACK IN THE PRESENT AS GOLD RETURNED TO HIS HOUSE

Man I had to go off the grid for awhile until I found that job opening for Isekai Truck Drivers.

Well the next people to talk to are Sirzechs, Azazel and Michael. I think Azazel will hear me out, Sirzechs should also hear me out since I helped out Rias. Michael will be more difficult considering I don't have any actual standing with the church.

"Think Gold! When and where can I meet all three of them at once?" I question out loud as I approached my house's bounded field.

I was so focused on my own self inquiry that I didn't notice the whizzing sound of a light spear flying through the air as it landed right in front of me.

*CRASH* The light spear wrecked a fair portion of the ground until it finally dissipated into the air. I blinked at the sight and turned towards the direction it came from. No one was there, so I enhanced my senses and realized plot was going on.

"Wait... plot!" Which means.... "Mine." I declared with narrowed eyes as I realized that those three people that I wanted to meet to pitch my business idea for was going to meet at the peace summit. However I don't have an invitation, which means I have to get involved.

"Mine, mine, mine, mine, mine!" I yelled out in a burst of wind towards the direction of plot!
