Chapter 11: Return
"Ben it's getting close. He's planning to return to Earthrealm soon even though the tournament hasn't begun." Mileena burst through the door of their home and immediately snitched on Shang Tsung's plans "How ready are we? Are you sure to win again him? Do we have any escape plans in case of failure?"
I was a bit dumbfounded by the sudden information influx but it didn't stop me from getting the key points.
"Don't worry Mileena, as long as my feet are on the ground I'll never lose. Besides once we win against Shang Tsung we'll have to prepare for Shao Khan next. Shang is more powerful but Shao has a much bigger army. And his general Kotal isn't a pushover either. But by then we'll have back up."
"Your earthrealm friends?"
"Do not underestimate them. Sonya doesn't have an arcana but if she really wants to I'm sure she can play against you and depending on how angry she is, she might even kill you."
Mileena scoffed but made a mental note of this Sonya Blade, "Anyways he's coming shall we prepare?"
"Yea it's been a while so let's go back in advance to warn them. Call Jade and have her get ready, no matter what youre bringing Shang Tsung and his people to Earth. As long as they're there he can't call up more people."
"I see. I shall prepare for the jump." With that Mileena went to go grab some food. Jumping on world and through worlds cause a very different amount of energy.
I let her leave before slamming my foot on the ground to extend my range as I sense Jade in her home. I send up a small earth totem next to her which is my signal for an audience.
It didn't take long before Jade came jumping through my window. She always said the door was too boring.
"Yes my king?"
"Sigh I'm no King Jade. Anyways we're going to Earth to lay a trap for Shang Tsung and i want you to come."
"....I see." She said as a savage grin adorns her face as she leaps next to me "I'm ready, always."
Edenians are generally a very peaceful race despite their strength. Even their warriors preferred not to fight, yet Jade was a bit different. She's almost as blood thirsty as Mileena and as deadly as Scarlett.
"Good we leave in an hour."
Meanwhile on Earthrealm back in the temple of Raiden Sonya sat next to Jax as he slept after his arms were done being treated. Due to his flame thrower he wasn't as injured but his arms still became useless.
"Are you worried about your friend?" Liu Kang spoke as he entered the room looking at the warrior sleep after undergoing surgery to fill in the missing parts of his arms.
Sonya sat there in silence thinking about all they've been through too fast. Raiden, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, the injured Jax and the weird reptile Kenshi and Nightwolf killed. The temple and gods , just so much and worse of all she's still powerless hell even that asshole Kano played a bigger role than her.
"Its just a lot." She took a deep breath as she organized her thoughts.
"Lord Raiden has summoned us. All of us."
Sonya let out a long sigh as she stood up from her spot and the grief in her eyes were hidden behind layers of military training "Alright, lead the way."
Following his steps it didn't take long to come across the room with those arcana holders were still sparring to strengthen their abilities. Seeing us enter Kung Lao stopped beating the shit out of Kano to Sonya's disappointment, as everyone looked at them before looking at the man entering from the other end.
Raiden was an elder god who looked in his mid 40s. White hair with a white robe and a white hate with a blue trim. He took slow arrogant steps as if his our time wasn't worth his. Yet he was never late. His eyes glowed as he spoke.
"You have gathered because all of you are the last line of Defense for this planet. Earthrealm has lost the past 9 games and if we lose this one then the Earth shall be overrun by the Outworlders. Shang Tsung and his people have been quietly breaking the rules, because he knows he must win this game, but he also knows this game will be the hardest."
Everyone looked at the old man as he continued walking "We have fought and lost in the past. yet we have never given up hope. We will succeed and we will protect Earthrealm. You are the last defenders of this planet and the last chance to win. As long as you remain in this temple you are all safe. Until the tournament he won't reach you here."
"Oh I don't know about that? This place may be a bit out of the way but it's still pretty simple to find."
Hearing the alluring voice that has haunted her nightmares Sonya immediately spun on her heels guns drawn pointed directly at that bitch.
The others were a bit slower but not by much as all sorts of different weapons and the like started appearing as the Earthrealm fighters all readies themselves.
"My oh My, all these people gonna gang up on little ol me" With a Cheshire grin that slowly started stretching that revealed a mouth full of fang like teeth that gave everyone a shiver "But if you wanna play then please go ahead make my day."
Sonya didn't wait for her to finish as she pulled her trigger but a green wall of energy appeared in front of the purple clad woman as she didn't move a single muscle.
"You must be having fun Mileena, but please don't forget why we're here" Jade barely finished her words when a Tomahawk came flying towards her as she just tilted her head avoiding it.
As Sonya was ready to unleash her next round of bullets q familiar voice rang through the halls.
"Alright ladies, I think you had your fun. So stop scaring them already."
The slow footsteps resounded through the halls as the familiar face walked up amongst everyone surprise.
"BEN!" Sonya was ready to run up to him when a firm hand fell on her shoulder. She looked behind her to see Raiden standing there with his eyes glowing full of power.
"Earthling identify yourself and state your purpose for showing up unannounced and uninvited with Shang Tsung's people."
Both of the women frowned and was ready to open their mouths when Ben just raised his hand and they shut up. Very docile like. That was strange.
"I do believe it's proper etiquette to introduce one's self first before asking others."
"That may be true, if you weren't breaking into my temple."
"Fair enough, Ben Walkers, resident of Earth. Mileena you all know, girl in green is Jade. Anyways we're here to see my friends."
"They are not welcome here" Raiden said as he seemed ready to make a move.
"Thats fine, we're here, we can wait outside the temple no biggie."
As the trio turned to walk away Sonya finally yelled out "Wait Ben. Where are you going?"
"They aren't accepted in the temple of the failure then we won't stay. Anyways the Earth is big we can speak outside if we must."
Raiden radiated lightning as he his voice shook the hall "YOU SHALL NOT INSULT ME MORTAL."
Ben stood in place and said "Am I wrong? 9 tournaments 9 losses. Even this tournament alone, Mileena how many of Earthrealms champions have been killed."
"27 Champions in the past 3 years."
"Is that not a failure? Not only do you lead your fighters to failure you didn't even bother to find, train or recruit any of the others? Hell if Sonya, Jax and I didn't gather the ones here would you even have a team?"
"ENOUGH"
Raiden blasted a giant bolt of lightning right at the trio under the bewildered gazes of his fighters but to their surprise when the light died down they just saw a green pole covered in Iron sand stuck in the ground before their feet.
"Look at that another failure."
"Why have you come to this temple? Surely it's not just to enrage Lord Raiden." Liu Kang spoke out to settle the turbulent waters.
"We came here for one reason" Ben said as his slightly aged face became serious. Sonya wondered how much time has he been on that planet? Is he still the same guy she knew? "We're here to kill Shang Tsung."
"Impossible, why would he be here?"
"Simple. Because we're gonna bring him."
Under the confused faces of everyone present Ben just let out a smile that he only has when someone is gonna get screwed over majorly. Sonya let out a breath she didnt know she was holding. It seems at least somewhat. He hasn't khanged.
